As charming as you are , the video would have been much better if the pictures were presented full screen, for the period of time you were talking about them.
Thank you! I totally agree and it’s something I worked on on my last few videos haha. If you’d like I recommend to check out my video titled “So you want your home to feel like a 90's RomCom... Here's How.” Link: ua-cam.com/video/9wBczDbRBKE/v-deo.html
Try the 1960 Parent Trap with Hayley Mills. The California hacienda set design is so beautiful you could live in it today without changing a thing. I was so disillusioned when I found out it wasn’t a real house. I also think it’s a better movie with more star power. Namely Maureen O’Hara and Brian Keith.
This is meant as constructive criticism, not denigration. Love the topic because I love Nancy Meyer's interiors in her movies. This video would be much more effective if you switched across to full screen views of the interiors. I would like to see the detail of the interiors. You are literally taking up 3/4 of the screen and the interiors are reduced to 1/4 of the screen. Switching the view, with you in and out in minor interludes, would allow your viewers to really see the interiors that they are there to view. Having you and your setting dominate the visual aspect of your video is a mistake. I hope you take this with the goodwill which is the intent. Otherwise, a good comprehensive video of an interesting topic.
Hi!! I actually TOTALLY agree with you!! After I posted it I thought the exact same thing! I’ll definitely change things up and do it differently next time I do a video like this one! Thank you for watching!
The Holiday…have watched it 20 times, at least. I love that movie so much I want to marry it. 🤦🏽♀️ Beautiful storylines underscored by amazing interiors. It is the definition of beautiful living. ✨
@@tomasrosaless me, too! I watch her movies over and over to absorb the beauty and comfort these homes evoke. Each home is amazing with its own perfect charm and personality! 🏡💕
Thank you so much, this was such a great tour, and I love how you discuss all the elements of design, including great lighting. I'd love to see you talk about the main home's kitchen and summer home on the coast in the 1995 remake of Sabrina, and the apartment that Marie and Jess (Carrie Fisher's and Bruno Kirby's characters, the best friends of the main characters) share in When Harry Met Sally, if you get a chance and would like to. :-)
Thomas you're so knowledgeable when it comes to home Interiors in film I really like your interpretation of the Holiday Movie the London and LA homes are very different but still they are both very Charming in a old Fashioned and Modern take on design Jude Law's home was also very Charming as well Do you think you can do something on the producer Shonda Rhimes and all of the work she has done as a writer and Producier in movies and her television work .
I have seen all the Nancy meyers movies countless times over the years. They are all so fun and so happy, and so beautiful. Your podcast is the best if any I have ever watched or listened to, and you have restored my confidence in pretty, cozy, traditional style…my own style my entire life. Your focus on the the ways in which Meyers’s style is always beautiful, and yes, fashionable, while remaining true to her classic roots is refreshing to hear. Thanks so much for sharing your insights on traditional home design. Please keep it up!
This is a long video which I love, Big fan of hers. Please can the music be better on the the Video………Awful repetition. I wish more people would take that into consideration when they decide on the background sound.
This was a great idea but it was unfortunately only average viewing because you only showed little thumbnail pics in the corner and a big picture of you. With all due respect it would have been much more enjoyable if you reversed that.
Nice video, but the word curated was so overused, it was too distracting. There are so many words that convey the meaning and add to the visualization, e.g., arranged, coordinated, carefully selected, hand-picked, and many more.
You did a great job reviewing every house and pointing out the consistencies that Nancy Meyers does in each film. The bookcases, the islands, the slip covers and the bedding‘s! She also gives that pop of color with flowers on all her kitchen islands it really brings life to all the neutrals. Most of the homes were either country or urban except for the fabulous Hamptons and the brownstone in The Intern -would that be considered country urban? It was so different but it looked perfect for that movie. Thanks again! Only suggestions I would have is to name some of the paint colors and leave the picture up while you’re talking. 💕
I am a fan of all her movies (you know it 😜) This video was amazing! Two of my favorite homes ever are here! The cottage and The Hamptons house! Please keep doing these videos.
My favourite set was in “It’s complicated” until I saw “The Intern”. I love the two NY city townhomes equally, with a slight preference for the De Niro character kitchen.
19:29 This “Amanda” home, the exteriors anyway, is a real home designed by renowned architect, Wallace Neff. It went on sale within the last few years for ~$11 million. (Is that all?) The interiors of the home are completely different; they are a complete Nancy Meyers creation built on a soundstage.
Great question! When I say the spaces feel “curated”, I’m referencing the look they give of being selected, organized, and presented within the room in a methodological way! Curated over time means that it looks like the characters have been collecting the items within the home through the years, rather than looking like a catalogue or showroom with all new decor items! I hope that makes sense 🤣
I feel all the American interior design youtubers love English design, particularly traditional aesthetics. Makes me kinda proud to be English. We have rubbish food but our interior design taste is unbeatable.
Too much you, too few photos! You should be in reduced size in the corner against a larger size photo of your subject. It's too boring just watching you in full screen.
Hey! Thank you so much! It was actually a DIY! I thrifted a lamp that had the shape I liked, then I painted it using a mixture of paint and baking soda! Once it dried, I did a coat of mud over it and let it sit. Once it fully cured you wipe away the excess! And then the lamp shade I just got at Target! Hope this helps! I could also do a video showing the process of some of my DIYS!
Loved this!!! I have long been in love with Nancy Meyer' sets!!! All of these are favorite movies, and favorite rooms/kitchens!!! One teeny - tiny - small suggestion: As handsome as you are, it would be awesome to have the photos of the rooms be the larger, and your video/photo the smaller. I think your channel is fantastic - I want it to be the best it can be!
It’s so nice to see a handsome guy who isn’t FULL of tattoos…can you turn your music down for the next video….please don’t use the word curated so much…great job
Yes the background music is distracting. Better without. You have wondetful talent. It is so rewarding to see these interiors. Love Nancy Meyers. You will figure out a way to present...thx.
Definitely “Father of the Bride” is my favorite of her movie homes.
Such an incredible home! So beautiful and definitely a classic!

Makes me want to watch all of these movies again. Except Parent Trap... just can't do Lindsey Lohan

I think it's a shame that nobody ever mentions Nancy Myers's production designers, the ones who actually create the look - Jon Hutman and Beth Rubino.
1000%! I may have a more in depth series coming up about these films, I’ll make sure to mention everyone involved!

I always loved “you’ve got mail” The apartment of Meg Ryan in the movie was so endearing Loved her bookstore too
LOVE that movie! The book store and her apartment are so dreamy and cozy!!!
How did the interiors/set for Meet the Parents? It was brilliant. I stopped being afraid of color after that one.
Meet the Parents is another one with beautiful interiors!
