- In this video, we are going to talk about, when a woman says that she needs a break.
I'm going to try to really dissect everything in this video. Because I want this to be a one-stop-shop for you. I've created other videos which I'm gonna put up here on the link above about when she says she needs space, and what "I need space" typically means. So I want you to also watch those two videos after that because my coaching practice is revolved around helping you men get the answers and really change and impact your love lives, and get that love life that you want to cultivate that healthy relationship.
So a lot of times when a woman is asking for a break, she is either asking for a break because maybe she fell out of love with you, or maybe she just doesn't truly really need love herself. So you might have heard "Oh, I need a break because I need to work on myself" or "I need space because I need to work on myself", or "You need to work on you, and I need to work on me".
Here is what 90% of the time ends up happening when a woman says that. You beg and you plead, and you tell her "No, no, no, like, we can do this together, don't do this, don't break up with me, are we breaking up?" And then she is telling you, "No, we're just on a break, we need to take some time away from each other". Typically, maybe that will happen or maybe she'll just tell you "Yeah, we are breaking up".
But here is the thing then. You can have full control to get this relationship back, but you have to do exactly opposite of what you're programmed to do. And what I mean by programmed to do is emotionally, we react. So first instinct is we react, and our reactions are always trying to convince that person that they're making a bad decision.
But here is the thing when it comes to relationships, and I talk a lot about in my videos is individuality is so pure in human behaviors and in a relationship. And what we start to do when we're in relationships is we love that person, but we tend to forget that you are your own individual, and even though it's a partnership, you only have control of yourself. And that's why self-love and self-dignity and self-worth, all of that stuff that I talk about in some of my videos, I tell you that that's why it's so important that you have a 100% of this, so that you can have that healthy relationship, because when you come to a time where your girlfriend is saying that she needs space, possibly it's because the relationship had some flaws, let's just say, in it, and she is asking for you to work on you, and for her to work on herself, which is a great thing.
But here is how you take full control of this whole meaning of "I need a break", and "I need space" in order to get this relationship back if it's meant to be back. And I'm going to tell you that, and I'm going to give you tips on how to do this. What I want to emphasize here, men, is do not try to gain control of her. She is her own individual, just like you're your own individual. And you can't convince someone to be with you unless they decide that they wanna be with you. That's how they stay, that's how they stick. Convincing is only temporary. Do you understand what I mean by this now?

Just give her the time she needs. Don't force her not to have that time. Believe me she loves you but she needs to regain control of herself. I know it's difficult guys. Support her, comfort her, respect her decisions and understand her. Trust me after few days or weeks. She'll come back. It's her right.

This is different though. She was looking for options in this situation. To put rules for you to follow, you’re showing her that she can do as she pleases with you and that you don’t value your own time and have self respect. It only gets worse. I hardly eat and get maybe 3 hrs of sleep a night. Up until 4 - 6 am then wake up at 7. Mind is racing a mile a minute. Keep picturing her with another guy. Stomach is in knots. Every time I try to ask if I am chasing something that is not there, she says I am pressuring or harassing her. Now, I have to shut up and try and gauge this on my own. I love this girl but I am going down the toilet with lack of sleep, food, etc. Do I go back to FL and slowly see her possibly and see if it can be repaired?

Glad you mentioned how the woman may suffer from depression or anxiety. Many don’t realize how mental health issues can have an effect on that. So yes! I need a break to figure out and think things through. If a guy isn’t willing to go to couples therapy with me, it’s a done deal.

When she says she wants a break, it's a prelude to a breakup. It most likely means she met someone else, or she's interested in someone else and she wants to go explore it. If it works out, she'll come back and break up with you. If it doesn't work with the other guy, she's going to try and come back and pretend she wasn't intimate with the other guy.
Or just tell her if you want a break this relationship is now open. Monogamy doesn't work long term anyway. People are fooling themselves if they believe so.

I'm going through this now. I can honestly tell you that i have never been so lost in all my life. I love her deeply and she asked for space which i agreed to but let me tell you I'm so frightened that she already knows the answer. My mind is in overdrive. Day 3 right now.. the way I said it was unhealthy but when we have been arguing about him not doing the little things since we don’t see each other as often because of our hectic schedules. But you must have your own. Fill your life with passion and purpose. Just like I would be entitled to keep on my path toward a purpose meaningful life. I don't think she was banking on the fact that when she said she needed space, I needed it too and found that I was better off. It hurt because you spend so much time getting to know someone and of course you'll miss them but at the same time you find that there was some codependency, how your happiness had to revolve around hers and my god that's so exhausting. Every relationship is different. To me I asked for space because of my mental health problems and because I don’t wanna affect my partner negatively when dealing with it. Not because I’m not interested anymore or I’m screwing anyone, usually most men think of it this way but it’s not really like that. You still hurt your partner. Break says I don't want you around anymore -regardless how stressed you are. Especially if you have not had a talk about it and discussed the parameters of the break.
Greatest hurt of my life was about 15 months ago when she said she needed a break. We had been together for 2.5 years and she had never voiced an issue with our relationship. I was getting ready to propose to her because she was really the one for me. We had been looking at an apartment together just weeks before.
That break ended up just being her not having the guts to break up with me. The same that she never had had the guts to voice any concerns about us before.
She broke my heart utterly and completely. I loved her. I loved her family. My family loved her and most importantly, my kids loved her a lot. My youngest still talks a lot about her and says she wants to go visit. It hurts like hell still after all this time and sometimes I feel like I will never heal again...

Most girls are very influential by her friends and the people they spend time with. A lot of girls suffer from FOMO (fear of missing out) if they are in an exclusive relationship and their friends are single and going out they can feel they are missing someting which es just an ilussion....they are not missing anything. Actually been in this situation. I was a hairdresser at the time dating a male model. He made a decent amount of money and was obviously very handsom.
BUT he turned out to be a violent abusive person 6months into our relationship. Oh and had a wicked bad coke habbit!
Long story short I left. Left the fancy condo and nice cars. He later over dosed and passed away in 2017. Wish I cared more but honestly he deserved it.

Wow! This is such great advice but jeez it’s so difficult to refrain from my natural tendency to “fix” things and like you said convince her to not take a break. I’m going through this right now (happened within the last 2 weeks) and emotionally I’m feeling everything you described, why me, what did I do wrong, how can I fix It, angry, sad, etc. Our relationship was great in my opinion but some external family and work stresses were her reasons for taking a break and that she just can’t give me the time and attention I deserve right now. My initial reaction was emotional and I called her and tried to convince her that I can help her get through this. I didn’t beg and wasn’t pushy so hopefully I didn’t do too much damage. Sometimes if a wife or woman needs space its because has done everything in her power to give him a chance to change and he continues to betray her trust or does not realize what he has. She is just rethinking everything that you said and how your actions and words do not line up. What makes it worse is she has no real plan on how the break would work since we live together and are raising 2 kids. I’ve done the exact method she recommends on doing. I left my ex to focus on our individual selves and she had a need to sleep with other men. Currently going through this situation right now and it really helped me see the whole taking a break thing from a different perspective. She had told me she's had stress and depression and family issues wanted a little time apart and she said to focus on myself and she's going to focus on herself. Its painful and hard to go through but I agreed to give her the space that she asked for. You should not think you made a mistake for trying to communicate. It is natural to have emotions, which she does not respect. You should respect yourself and promise yourself not to ever contact her again. Even if it hurts to think about it. One day you may find yourself in a different position which someone who does not need space. Or you will find someone who will say I am breaking up with you because I want something else. And then you will compare these two women and feel more respect for the second. At that point you will realise how good it was to forget the first one.
A break is the same thing as wanting space. She is basically tired of something you keep doing and just wants to move on.
