ive loved him as an actor in everything he does. any interview he always puts others above himself. even starring in a lead role, he always talks about the production crew and the lower end people who usually do more of the work in a movie. hilarious how he's such a good dude, but plays characters like shane on TWD. (It wasn't shane's fault that Lori was manipulating Him and Rick to kill each other so she didn't have to make the choice on who to choose). Thomas Jane was great, i saw the punisher when i was a kid and didnt really read comics then to know the back story. But i feel like John's Punisher is much more relatable. He IS the Punisher. Charlie IS DD. need more of them in the future.
He's a great guy in real life too. Very down to earth. My husband, daughter and I met him in 2019, and he was a really nice guy. We talked growing up on the East Coast (he's from D.C., I'm from Maryland), talked a little smack about each other's football team (all in good fun), etc. I love him so much as The Punisher, I got a tattoo of him as The Punisher. He should be allowed to continue on in the role, for however long he wants to do it. He's a fantastic actor, and a great guy

He or Frank Grillo....they only need to follow waht we have in Daredevil Season 2 and ignore what the series did...because nothing from Season 1 and 2 have anything from The Punisher.

I wouldn't say he's the most comic accurate. He portrays way too much emotion. In the comics Frank Castle is usually depicted as showing 0 remorse or guilt, he doesn't scream or cry much, he usually kills with a completely straight face. However I think he made the Punisher much more interesting and I LOVE his performance. Like RDJ playing Iron Man, I think Jon really refined Frank Castle in a way that's even effected the way he's portrayed it comics now, because his version of Punisher is just that good.

Well, he isn't going to be a murderer or anyone malicious in intent, but I understand you. He doesn't always play hard ass characters, sometimes he plays the bad guys who get beaten up, but I do agree that his acting skill is decent, his range is surprising.
I would not be envious of whoever plays Wolverine next. Hugh Jackman is the only Wolverine most people have ever seen, so I don't see how they could make him a short, stocky wall of muscle like how he is in the comics. The execs are going to want another Hugh since those movies were so profitable.
considering Hugh Jackman is Wolverine I can see Jon playing him but although Wolverine is my favourite X man the acting in Punisher is way better than the acting that would be required as Wolverine !!!
I watch the Punisher series from Netflix at least 2-3 times a year and I agree with Jon, its the power and grittiness of the character and the desperation to survive and keep fighting. I think we all have a little Frank Castle in us and if provoked by the right situation it can come out. I don't know how anyone else outside of the group that made these will ever be able to do it justice.
In the comics it's not desperation to survive. It's not desperation at all. It's methodical effectiveness and punishment. Fighting crime, without remorse, without mercy. Netfix got it all completely wrong about the character and looks like Bernthal got it wrong too.

Personally I believe actors should honestly look at a possible role then themselves in comparison and if the shoe doesn't fit then just stand back from the role. I personally can't see Jon play wolverine but he killed it as punisher.
Honestly, Kevin Feige shouldn't touch it. The MCU is too watered down, sequel-reliant CGI entertainment. Daredevil, Punisher etc are well written art. Too good for the MCU. Which is wjat he touched on. He only wants to be part of it if done right. Charlie Cox also sais the same thing when he said fans should be careful what they wish for

Bernthal was born to play The Punisher and much respect to the way he responds to this. I would love to see him reprise his role in the MCU but Disney would never do his character right especially in todays culture. Netflix Daredevil S1 and 2 is the best comic book adaptation ever on screen and Bernthal IS Frank Castle… period.
Yeah I always preferred the Punisher that was in Daredevil’s show rather than the Punisher that had his own series. I thought the Daredevil Punisher was a little more true to the character.

How humble is this guy!! What an amazing attitude. There is no one who could play Frank Castle better. This character was made for him. Hope to see the Punisher again. This and Daredevil are the best of the Marvel Netflix shows by a million miles.
When you listen to Jon's background, his stories on Joey Diaz podcasts, and then look where he's at now, it truly brings the most respect towards him forward. I hope he's able to continue his role as Frank. It'd be great to see him on the big screen in cameos in different Spidey movies, Avengers, Hell even Guardians.

Wolvie is my favorite character of all time but Frank "The Punisher" Castle is a close second. Him as both of these characters would blow my mind. He's such a great actor and a great guy. To me Jon is The Punisher as much as RDJ is Iron Man and thems big words I know. Bring Jon to the MCU, let's go.
Jon Berthal and Frank Grillo are both amazing 'fighter' actors, yes they have stunt coordinators but you have to draw on 'real' for method and they both bring it.
That’s why I prefer Jon’s Punisher from the Daredevil series, and not so much from his solo series. You got to see more of the “vigilante with a strict code of justice who will kill to serve that justice” Punisher, there was a lot of the Punisher series that deviated away from that.
He was so damn good as Frank Castle and props to the casting director that picked him. The last scene of the last episode when he kicks in the door,guns blazing,he looks exactly like a Tim Bradstreet painting come to life.
What really drew me in to Jon as Frank was the emotional chaos he brought to the character. You know Frank Castle is truly hurting inside, and in the emotional and action scenes. Jon was always the Punisher. edit: Heck, he almost convinces the Devil of Hell's Kitchen that killing is good.. 😇👿
Brilliant actor, one of my favourites. He's basically saying that he's true to his trade and would only pick up a job if the role was right, not just for him but for the fans. You genuinely can't get better.
just like any other day, I got punisher in my recommendations today on youtube and then I thought that I should watch some scenes because I was legit obsessed with the series it was a few years ago, and then just before going to sleep I see this video also in my recommendations which were published yesterday and I was what a convenience btw I took my time to write this down because I'm really a big fan of the show and especially, of course, the legend, maniac Punisher. I really want him back as the PUNISHER he is the only and one.
Jon is such a GREAT actor. I hated Shane in the walking dead, but I loved him as Frank Castle in punisher. That just shows you the kind of acting chops this guy has, I really hope he comes back for anything Marvel related.

Yeah he is coming back and he already knows it but he is trying to keep it hidden cause his constant looking away from the camera cause he knows he’s lying so he is trying to make sure he doesn’t have a tell for his bluff, he is also looking at something specific every now and again while looking away and I think he is watching someone that is making sure he doesn’t give to much information and saying the key notes probably wrote down on cards to make sure he stays on point about him not knowing what the future holds for Frank Castle, he also said in this interview that sometimes it’s way better not knowing the future of the character till we actually see him again as punisher in a upcoming movie cause the reaction will be amazing after all this doubt about him not playing this character anymore and we are all bummed out but then he appears out of nowhere in a future movie to save the day.
Late to see this video here but I agree. Look at 1:40 when he covers his mouth suddenly when talking about the possibility of playing Frank again. It's almost like he's hiding something. Lol.
His voice surprised me. Hahaha. I have seen him in a few shows but this is the first time I've ever seen him in an interview. He's even better as an actor than I realised. I was convinced his natural voice was much deeper. Also, his role as The Punisher is amazing. I'd love more from him. Though I preferred his characters persona in DD more than the standalone.
He at least needs an opportunity to do something like the "Dirty Laundry" Short that Thomas Jane got. I liked Jane's Punisher as well, for wildly different reasons, and was happy to see that short. Seeing Jon Berntal get to do a small story like that that he would get to pour his creativity into would be magical.

I'd love to see him back, but I doubt that Disney will do it. They don't want to allow a competitor (Netflix) use a property or character (the Punisher) that they now own. If they could transfer the show to Disney+ they would, but Netflix isn't likely to agree to that for the exact same reason (their competition with Disney+).

Being a Marine Veteran, I would love to see Jon back in the role as Frank Castle "The Punisher." A funny thing, I've had friends ask me if I was like "The Punisher", (having been part of 1st Force Recon) and I would reply, do I look like "The Punisher" much less behave that way?
@@Darian.. Get someone who is either currently in the military or is a veteran to help train you in both mind and body. Too many of today's recruits come in and aren't ready for basic training. I was in a different time period (1968-76). Additionally, start running and doing calisthenics, not weight training. That's going to be the main type of physical training.

@@Darian.. Realize that it's mostly mental and that you're being prepared beyond basic. Basic is a foundation and give your best each day. In the Marines we had Drill Instructors that helped build us and we referred to them with "Yes, Sir" or "No, Sir" or anytime we addressed, we did so with "Sir" (or "ma'am" for female Marines). In the Army, you simply would call them "Drill Sargent" with no reference to "Sir" as only Commissioned Officers are addressed that way. Again, if you can deal with the mental tension, you will be fine. And when you feel that you can't go any farther, know that you're only at 60% there and you have 40% in the reserve. Stay focused on your studies and keep your focus on what you're learning there, not what you left back home. Nowadays for me, many commissioned officers call me sir or simply Dr. Bob (me having my PhD in clinical psychology and in neuropsychology). Or is it because I'm 70 years old? Hmmm lol
I would love to see the Punisher and Karen develop their relationship within the basic storyline, but not overpowering the brutality and abilities of Castle.

Yes, when I watched punisher, I felt like this wasn’t even marvel. It in no way feels like a super hero world because punisher is great.

Honestly, Kevin Feige shouldn't touch it. The MCU is too watered down, sequel-reliant CGI entertainment. Daredevil, Punisher etc are well written art. Too good for the MCU. Which is wjat he touched on. He only wants to be part of it if done right. Charlie Cox also sais the same thing when he said fans should be careful what they wish for

Bernthal was born to play The Punisher and much respect to the way he responds to this. I would love to see him reprise his role in the MCU but Disney would never do his character right especially in todays culture. Netflix Daredevil S1 and 2 is the best comic book adaptation ever on screen and Bernthal IS Frank Castle… period.

How humble is this guy!! What an amazing attitude. There is no one who could play Frank Castle better. This character was made for him. Hope to see the Punisher again. This and Daredevil are the best of the Marvel Netflix shows by a million miles.
When you listen to Jon's background, his stories on Joey Diaz podcasts, and then look where he's at now, it truly brings the most respect towards him forward.
I hope he's able to continue his role as Frank. It'd be great to see him on the big screen in cameos in different Spidey movies, Avengers, Hell even Guardians.

That’s why I prefer Jon’s Punisher from the Daredevil series, and not so much from his solo series. You got to see more of the “vigilante with a strict code of justice who will kill to serve that justice” Punisher, there was a lot of the Punisher series that deviated away from that.
He was so damn good as Frank Castle and props to the casting director that picked him. The last scene of the last episode when he kicks in the door,guns blazing,he looks exactly like a Tim Bradstreet painting come to life.

What really drew me in to Jon as Frank was the emotional chaos he brought to the character. You know Frank Castle is truly hurting inside, and in the emotional and action scenes. Jon was always the Punisher.

just like any other day, I got punisher in my recommendations today on youtube and then I thought that I should watch some scenes because I was legit obsessed with the series it was a few years ago, and then just before going to sleep I see this video also in my recommendations which were published yesterday and I was what a convenience btw I took my time to write this down because I'm really a big fan of the show and especially, of course, the legend, maniac Punisher. Yeah he is coming back and he already knows it but he is trying to keep it hidden cause his constant looking away from the camera cause he knows he’s lying so he is trying to make sure he doesn’t have a tell for his bluff, he is also looking at something specific every now and again while looking away and I think he is watching someone that is making sure he doesn’t give to much information and saying the key notes probably wrote down on cards to make sure he stays on point about him not knowing what the future holds for Frank Castle, he also said in this interview that sometimes it’s way better not knowing the future of the character till we actually see him again as punisher in a upcoming movie cause the reaction will be amazing after all this doubt about him not playing this character anymore and we are all bummed out but then he appears out of nowhere in a future movie to save the day.

His voice surprised me. Hahaha. I have seen him in a few shows but this is the first time I've ever seen him in an interview. He's even better as an actor than I realised. I was convinced his natural voice was much deeper. Also, his role as The Punisher is amazing. I'd love more from him. Though I preferred his characters persona in DD more than the standalone.

I'd love to see him back, but I doubt that Disney will do it. They don't want to allow a competitor (Netflix) use a property or character (the Punisher) that they now own. If they could transfer the show to Disney+ they would, but Netflix isn't likely to agree to that for the exact same reason (their competition with Disney+).

@@Darian.. Get someone who is either currently in the military or is a veteran to help train you in both mind and body. Too many of today's recruits come in and aren't ready for basic training. I was in a different time period (1968-76).
Additionally, start running and doing calisthenics, not weight training. That's going to be the main type of physical training.

@@Darian.. Realize that it's mostly mental and that you're being prepared beyond basic. Basic is a foundation and give your best each day. In the Marines we had Drill Instructors that helped build us and we referred to them with "Yes, Sir" or "No, Sir" or anytime we addressed, we did so with "Sir" (or "ma'am" for female Marines). In the Army, you simply would call them "Drill Sargent" with no reference to "Sir" as only Commissioned Officers are addressed that way. Again, if you can deal with the mental tension, you will be fine. And when you feel that you can't go any farther, know that you're only at 60% there and you have 40% in the reserve. Stay focused on your studies and keep your focus on what you're learning there, not what you left back home.
Nowadays for me, many commissioned officers call me sir or simply Dr. Bob (me having my PhD in clinical psychology and in neuropsychology). Or is it because I'm 70 years old? Hmmm lol
