Still no explanation of his dramatic drop in ability. Rule changes don't explain why he rebounded and scored less (if anything, it'd help him score more).
Poochie Collins He was to slow on defense and teams would force him to play on the perimeter on the defensive end and he wasn't a good enough scorer to consistently take advantage of smaller players so his minutes started to decrease which lowered his scoring and rebounding.
Poochie Collins Hibbert had literally no effect on the game outside the paint. All teams had to do was switch him onto perimeter players or just big men that were good at shooting 3s and he would be rendered useless. Small ball fucked him over big time.

I had no idea about that verticality rule and that the league changed it. I think that was the biggest thing that got him to regress so badly. "Going straight up" was his calling card on defense. It was taken out and he literally looked like trash. And yeah playing in the East overinflated his value as a big men who is more limited than how he was praised.

I remember Coach Vogel even said all they asked of hibbert to do was go straight and contest shots on defense because he was so tall. Dude wasn't talented at all and he got exposed when he went to LA

Hibbert was a relic from the bygone era of dominant centers. Basketball just evolved into something different. The lines between positions became blurred and every player could stretch and play at least 2 positions.
Don't know if the Pacers tried to develop his outside game? After the 2013 season teams slowly wanted 3 ball bigs or stretch 4s that could helpful to the team. Draymond with GS, KAT with Min, AD with New Orleans, Julius with New Orleans, Krispas with NY, Cousins with GS, Gasol with SAS and so on. It is the timing and possibly the work ethic that ruined Hibberts career.
That 2012 - 2013 season is when Curry first made a name for himself. Back when there was no golden state bandwagons and everybody called him "Seth Curry"

If he uses his money wisely, he won. Time flies your prime, could be now. Everybody prime years are different
Hibbert making an all star team was misleading, because they were still picking centers, where there were not that many. Career highs of 12 and 8 is not all star calibre, so a decent drop off in a game that is getting called more and more soft, to advocate smaller players shooting 3's, and driving to the rim in open lanes, could easily lead to a player like him not being used anymore.
The 2014 Indy/ATL seris is the moment I realized Vogel was a shitty coach. He refused to bench Hibbert when Indy had a backup that could play D outside of the paint. Nobody is THAT bad of a player unintentionally. Hibbert got his revenge on the Pacers by tanking the series as a big "Fuck You' to PG for beating the brakes off his girl.

I thought Hibbert was too slow in college and even more so in the NBA game. I am not surprised at all that this happened to him. Seems like a nice guy tho, and I wish him the best in his future endeavors. But my oh my he had some irritatingly frustrating performances when his game and confidence fell of a freaking cliff.
@@ColonelZeta You know what thats a good point. Capela didnt cross my mind. Hes on the perfect team for his skill set. Rudy Gobert cant shoot either but hes 7"2. I take back what i said.

Hibbert's replacement in Indiana, Myles Turner, is another example.

@@grapas100 ok that is straight off Google/wiki and almost every player is worth millions off their name alone.. even antoine walker was worth 10 mil when he was 10 mil in debt lol. Just because you CAN sell your image doesnt mean you know how to
@@TheRegularGamersEE - Yeah, you're right, it was right off of the net, what's your point?
This Had me thinkin. Anyone Remember Josh Smith? Im sure he's still in the NBA. Last played for the Clippers i think. Remember how he was once a force to be reckoned with in Atlanta?
Do a video on Damon Stoudamire!
Let’s not forget that PG smashed his girl
I thought Hibbert was too slow in college and even more so in the NBA game. I am not surprised at all that this happened to him. Seems like a nice guy tho, and I wish him the best in his future endeavors. But my oh my he had some irritatingly frustrating performances when his game and confidence fell of a freaking cliff.
The same thing is happening to Joakim Noah
Except he had serious injuries that have slowed him down and decreased his athleticism
Noah is just too injury prone. He could have easily been averaging a solid 10 & 10 while protecting the rim
@@ColonelZeta Not in today's NBA, Noah cant shoot and hes under sized.
TheRealtalk617 I’d say Capela and Noah are the same size . Their skill sets are comparable are they not ?
@@ColonelZeta You know what thats a good point. Capela didnt cross my mind. Hes on the perfect team for his skill set. Rudy Gobert cant shoot either but hes 7"2. I take back what i said.
He hit his decline fast... but modern day bball is nightmare for him. He was never athletic and slowest player. More teams built stretch 4s and permeter 3s like warriors and after that i think he lost his confidence and forgot what he is good at...
Do josh Howard from the Dallas mavericks
