You're philosophy at the end is what has helped get my 32 year old self out of the rut I was in. Went from no job, never leaving my grandmother's house two years ago too where I am now. Working for myself doing drywall and trim work, married, with a 10 year old step son and a baby boy of my very own that's due in January. Life is a gift and each and every moment is a present.

Thank you for sharing this video. I’m a young mom, and I lost my husband a year ago. Since his passing, I’ve tried to cope by learning some basic home improvement skills. I have a large gap in my basement stairwell that looks just like this and I’ve been intimidated to try and fix it but your video gave me confidence to give it a go!

"Every moment is a gift from God, and that is why they call it the present." Really powerful message brother, for every aspect of life! Doing home improvement has actually dramatically helped me to live in the now.
So often we want to distract ourselves and escape from the present moment. But falling in love with the process is like what you said, where the present is truly at! 🙏

Love watching your methods sand tips, tricks and experience. Been watching you for years from when i started as an apprentice. I can now say im a good finisher and tons of people will stand with me on that. And youve really helped me understand the meaning of drywall and i feel youve played a big role in my experience and want to thank you for that . Id feel disrespectful if i didnt include the many men (and women) who have taught me stuff along the way becasue they who were what molded me. But watching your videos in my spare time has really educated me. Thank you. Keep on keepin on. -live in the present

I took up meditation about 5-7 years ago and I'm going to add to your wisdom with the most life changing words I have ever heard. They were spoken by the amazing Lauren Ostrowski Fenton. I was listening to one of her guided meditations here on UA-cam and after telling listeners to "forget the past" she then explained that she's not saying to discount the past, nor is she saying to discount the future.. for we learn from the past and we plan for the future, but (paraphrasing here) our "true happiness does not exist in the past, nor in the future. You can not FEEL happy in the past. You can not FEEL happy in the future. We can only feel happy in the present moment. Our happiness, our true happiness, can only exist in the present." It seems so obvious, yet I had never thought of it that way. It's not easy to remember that all the time, but it's a journey!

I was watching the video with the bazooka, and I thought, "This doesn't help me! I don't have a bazooka!" And then I saw this video and you mentioned that very fact. I appreciated your thinking of that and doing this video for us! Also, I appreciated your unexpected bit of philosophy in there. It reminded me to appreciate this time and what God has given me NOW! God bless you!

I rarely post comments to videos, but I must say this was really great. Im working on an addition, have some pretty big gaps due to walls not being plum, square, etc. This is a great solution instead of trying to jam a small piece of drywall in there. Thank you! Wonderful message and the end too!

Didnt see that coming, so True. Im in this, the confusion of not dreaming as big for the future because of being realistic but not looking back at the past as if it was worse or better.
Remedy to confusion is to tune in and be in the moment.
I would add to your philosophy, we should think of being in the present from the youngest age and we should encourage kids to develop critical thinking rather than memory/regurgitate without intelectualising...
Anyways, great trick. I use durabond to prefill smooth and then tape both edges one day at the time and blend. Works great but like your approach too. Keep up man, peace to you.
