I always thought that pop growth worked along the lines of, when two pops meet and like each other (a lot at least for a few minutes) and there’s enough food and a place to stay in time there will be more pops and the first two pops will have ruined their lives for the next 20 years or so by not having enough consumer goods, food, or money. Eventually (hopefully) the extra pop will move out find food and housing for itself meet a pop they like and the cycle repeats.

Beyond the total lack of realism of people not having kids because some planet on the other side of the galaxy is really big, the update dismantles entire sections of the game. Don't use your district slots. Don't grow your small planets. Don't use your clerks. Don't use your housing. I'm for them reducing pops again and removing this restriction on pops. I personally think a planet's carrying capacity should be determined by housing and available jobs, not some arbitrary empire number. The devs did move closer to their goal though, my late-game performance moves at "normal" speed instead of "very slow" speed when I have it turned up to "very fast".

honestly, rn the game is unplayable for me. its not about the lag tho its about me watching my empire having only 156 population with clone army in the year 2304 and needing 250 pop growth for one additional pop. i produce on every of my 10 planets androids and grow some biological pops aswell but until i can make my whole clone army into researchers it will take me probably another 50 years.

Having to leave worlds half developed on purpose and having to move them somewhere else (when you actually still have plenty of room on that planet) is not fun, and it lacks all logic. Clerk jobs being useless now is HORRIBLE in my opinion, not because I'm a fan of them, but having a whole job category in the game you have to DISABLE is just plain bad design. It just feels like the game was not meant to be played this way but the changes are so bad that this is the only way to play efficiently.

The only use for clerks as a way to ensure victory in the bid for hosting the galactic market hub apparently doesn't work out either, because a planet specifically built up for the competition, with 350+ trade value from thrifty domestic servants and three levels of nomination still can and does lose to a backwater empire capital with 50 trade value.

oh, that's actually kind of interesting, before, it was large planets which would feed your small planets pops to grow past colony stage, but now, it's the small planets that need to feed the large ones because after a certain point, the large ones "stop" growing

I have lost several games, just completely unable to support an economy because I couldn't maintain enough pops to keep the jobs flowing.
Planet capacity and how it affects pop growth may well be the key to my troubles. Thank you!

Upgrading the food processing facility only gives 1 extra job per district, so with 8 farming districts you would get 9 more, 1 job per district * 8 districts + the building itself gives 1 more job than the unupgraded facility(which only gives 1 job, and no extra jobs from districts).

Don't forget you can also build luxury residences in all the building slots opened up by those city districts to increase the pop capacity even further.
But I think your maths is off on how much those cities are doing, since each one is also consuming an 'empty' district worth four points of capacity.

Double is probably a good rule of thumb for the big worlds, but for the small worlds you want even more than that. What works for me is going straight for ~80 planetary capacity (which is what you'd want for 40 pops on that planet anyway). When I do that, the planets hit max pop growth somewhere in the range of 25-30 pops.

And it's changed significantly in 3.0.3 open beta 2. Clerks and trade is back, growth is slower, less explosive in the logistic phase and slows less near capacity.
I really like it, there's a better balance to the game now, as getting to the faster phase first is less important.
So the +10% for phobes and advanced starts are more containable, though the slow first contact process hampers co-op between empires who need to.

I watch most of the tutorials for 3.0 but this one. I got to 2400 and growth on all my planets slowed down. I put perks, gene clinics and every tech that increased pop growth with no results. I uninstalled the game, read online people where having the same issues and now found your video confirming this issue. So clerks are truly bad since you want those pops to work on something that gives back value. So yeah I did learn something

  • @nocx4592
    @nocx4592 3 роки тому

Cities start with 5 housing, imperious architecture doesn't give extra housing from city districts, public works division(prosperity tree) does, that's why he only had 7 housing per district. So city districts without upgrade do give extra planetary capacity on non-gaia worlds.

I completely understand how it works now just tested this about 10 min ago and holy crap okay so now I can make ring worlds work for me ..... I would like to add that when your building up those small worlds to be pop farms throw down some admin cap job not a tone but a smidge to offset the sprawl. I also replace my admin building and clerk jobs on my home world with resurch centers as soon as I can

  • @feekygucker2678

I didn’t learn too much, but I’m sure many did. Beware city districts - unless they are improved by tech/trads, they only increase cc by a tiny amount. Empty districts offer cc, so clearing blockers is often more effective. Check the wiki for the cc offered by empty districts on differing planet types, subtract that from housing offered by city districts to evaluate the increase in cc.
