I agree with all those who say this is clunky and unreliable. What is so infuriating is that he keeps telling us it couldn't be simpler. If it were simple, one wouldn't need a five minute video to explain it. I have been working with online videos and my Audie dealer for three days now and nobody has been able to get me signed on to this ridiculously complex mess.
I can get it to work but agree it is complicated and it keeps dropping out. It seems your phone has to be permanently running the My Audi app which has also superceded the MMI app! Simples - not!

In the manual it shows you are able to use a mobile phone connection instead of a SIM, how do you go about this? I can connect iPhone via bluetooth, but the Audi Connect icon on the screen doesn't appear. My car is A5 Cab., 2016.

@Audi is time to link computer box with the satellite service so that we can stop paying car tracker. This will make it easy for vehicle recovery because is gona be hard for tugs to disconnect the device. NOT SURE IF THIS HAS ALREADY IMPLEMENTED.

As far as I know, new Audi comes with 3 months Audi Connect trial only, unless you bought the optional 3 years subscription with the car. Contact Audi to see how much you need to pay to subscribe for Audi Connect.
You can have the licence extended by contacting your local Audi Dealer. Here in the UK they will contact Audi AG and this will give you a 12month extension for free.
Bought a new audi, trying to link it to an existing account with another audi. When I enter the pin into the new car it just says myaudi is unavailable. Been like this for a whole day. 60k car and I can't use the features I've paid for. God awful implementation. Old car setup no problem. Issue is having to use an embedded sim and using this terrible third party data company, cubic that offer zero support. Laughable and fuming.
Stop bullshitting people. I bought my Audi A3 hoping that I would be able to use the navigation. I have learned that there are no authorized maps for Turkey. Most of the A3s have the same problem. Shame on you!
It's a joke that you need a SIM card to even activate it. It'd have been much easier through bluetooth or even if WLAN connections were possible
