Wize1972, VERY good demo of the virtual cockpit. I just bought a 2020 Q3 with the sports option, and to be honest, the user manual is extremely difficult to follow. Thank God for videos like your's. In the 17 minutes of your demo I understand more than in the 2 days I've spent trying to decipher the user manual. BTW, when you're in the virtual cockpit, you have stage 2 of the car battery activated. If you're on for 17 minutes, does this not wear down the battery?

All those pretty virtual buttons look great but as anyone living in climates with cold winters knows, they are impossible to use with gloves or non conductive touch like if you used a pen tip, finger nail, or hook/prosthetic limb. Before my fellow trolls argue this. My second point, and the main drawback in my opinion to digital, flat, non-tactile controls is the same as the comparison of trying to text message with a smart phone compared to to the previous, older model - flip (aka clamshell or dumb) phones - you can't do it solely by touch. It requires touch PLUS your visual attention. This is why so many states banned texting while driving. Unlike adjusting your car's radio station simply by turning a dial, with a digital ("smart touch") interface lacking dedicated analog buttons, you are forced to look away from the road aa you toggle thru menus (climate control, trip computer, settings menu. Until you get to radio and then instead of twisting a dial by touch alone, now you have to LOOK at the screen EVERY time you need to adjust something. Boo. Boo Wendy Testaburger. BOO.

Your tutorial was perfect - you went through every option and explained them at just the right level of detail. I only wish you had talked a bit about the street sign recognition and assistance features - I haven't seen a good review like yours on those topics yet. Thanks for uploading!
just got my A4 this week and want to thank you for such a detailed tutorial of the virtual cockpit. One little note. I feel the car data tab and the maps tab are the best used for the cockpit and unfortunately they are on the far left and right. I've found to switch from the car data tab to the maps tab quickly just hit the left button and it wraps around to the right side onto the maps tab instead of clicking three times to the right.
David Bias Oh didn't k ow that trick, thanks! It is also a shame that the system doesn't remember the last chosen tab, meaning that if I leave the car with the VC on map mode, it will be back on car mode when I return to the car...
Very informative, thanks! I was surprised the volume control is no longer on the left side of the steering wheel as I'm used to with any Volkswagen group car I owned (Golf 6 GTD 2009, Touareg 2010, Skoda Rapid and Octavia). Now I also know I need this display in my future RS3 ;)
The virtual cockpit shows is virtually the same as the analogue cockpit on except the ability to expand the map and shrink the speedometer and tachometer. All the vehicle information and map show in screen between the analogue system. The glare with the virtual cockpit is considerably more even when fully dimmed down. The virtual cockpit is simply a large glaring map. BMW on the otherside, allows for changing the color and information of the speedometer depending on the driving styles. Now that is how you make good use of the virtual cockpit.

I really like the Virtual Cockpit of Audi. I have heard thousand of times that people don't like the Virtual Cockpit because it's to difficult to understand how it works. But for me it's no problem, and once you know how it works than it's really easy to use it. What me disappoints is that, as you showed, always the same car their is shown and not the spec of your car. At 8:00 you didn't know what Unavailable meant, I think that that was the CD player but I'm not sure. My favorite mode is the map in the middle of the Virtual Cockpit. But I also liked the mode at 12:27 You explained the Virtual Cockpit better than I could ever do xD Awesome video ;)
Ya I noticed the same thing. You'd think with all the technology in the Virtual Cockpit, they could have bothered to take a picture of each color/model combo so your actual car was listed in the VC. Oh well. It's still a sweet feature though. I didn't think I'd like it, but it took about 5 minutes before I never wanted to be without it again. lol.

Audi uses Google map for their navigation system. The satellite images, real time traffic updates and a few other services requires an annual subscription. At the time I shot this video, Audi would give three years free (At least here in Switzerland) subscription

Is apple CarPlay wireless or wired?
Was wired on the S5
Use VC for music and MMI for navigation.
Hi Wize! Great review! May I ask you a technical detail if you have noticed it? When my zoom is at the lowest level (30m) during navigation it happens sometimes that the blue line representing my path suddenly flickers (for a very little time, almost not noticeable if you don't pay attention). Does it happen to you as well? Thanks :)
Federico Mazzi Thanks for watching my video. Didn’t notice anything like that but Audi connect has some stability issues, that could be the reason why
@@WiZe1972 the segment of the blue line just ahead of the arrow representing the car disappear for a millisecond, so if is not a major deal. But I was curious to know if this happens to other users
