Many years ago I had an aunt and uncle live on the channel there. We would go to that cold ass spring beach and to the beach(salt water). I remember manatee in the channel and gators. We caught mullet with bread and cane poles.
We were at the beach a few times and it was just covered up with stingrays.
There was a bear crossing sign right by where they had mermaid shows and a gas station which we saw a sow with two cubs one time.
We did one hurricane there which was kinda scary. The channel got very low which was pretty creepy.
This was my favorite place my aunt and uncle lived.

It was. This would have been in the early 90’s. One of my uncles live in Kissimmee and his road was sand. They are spread all over now. Some near Orlando, Kissimmee and New Port Richie area.
I remember in the 80’s they still had a crap load of rural areas. The last time I was down north of Tampa it was not rural too much anymore.
