@@sobellfanatic ha!! I quit playing years ago when i realized i would never play like my hero Leo Kottke. But then I picked it up again when realized it is just so fun to try. never give up
I first encountered Clive when he accompanied Tommy Emmanuel in concert. I was (and remain) a TE fan. However, there are times when, if pressed, I'd be likely to say that Clive comes in first in my book.
Hello! thanks for that. Tommy is, well, blimey, the king :-) It's been a pleasure to share the stage with him on four world tours and to know that I've been lucky enough to tour with one of the greatest players in acoustic guitar history. I hope to play live for you one day before too long. Take care, Clive
Great tune with so much going on in it. I liked the humerous touches and even detected a bar of Chet Atkins. It was like John Dowland meets Scott Joplin. Add a soupçon of blues, mix well and serve with a smile. Thanks Clive.
How can a baritone sound so funky? Usually they grunt along in the background playing bass lines. Loving the tune and the inset of the Lincolnshire Poacher xxx
Bravo Clive, another witty composition. You seem to have created more notes and harmonies than would normally be possible from an equal temperament scale. That instrument is a wonder too. I suppose the notes must go all the way past G# to perhaps J or K? :0) My ears are in catch up.
Fantastic - so much going on, couldn’t be anyone other than Clive. Nice to hear Rob Armstrong’s guitar, I once visited his showroom - all sorts of weird and wonderful lutherie hidden behind a curtain in his terraced house in Coventry. So many whacky designs that just ‘work’. Sounding wonderful.
Hi Clive. I just saw you last night at Bury Met and recognised the Lincolnshire poacher so that got me hooked. I went on spec after Christ Stern invited me. So glad he did. We really enjoyed your music and warm personality. So now you have at least one more subscriber. Hope you make it to a million :)
Thanks for that! I'm back at the Bury Met in November if you're about. Playing the music of John Renbourn with Dariush Kanani.... should be a fun night. Clive
Great piece of music. I love it. It just has this very lively groove. Maybe this would be great material for a nice little online workshop to teach this? 😁 I would be the first one to register!
Love it as always! Mr. Carroll, I study your course on TrueFire - it’s a great pleasure and use. But can we ever hope to see a more specialised course on technique basics from you? Your right hand works, hand positions - especially since you seem to use more classic-like instead of American fingerstyle-like with hand on bridge, mutings etc?
As a yellow-belly myself, I can confirm, this is exactly how we ramble.
Excellent!
If this doesn't get your feet a tappin' You're a Corpse.
thank you!
Well that cheered me up a bit. cheers.
good stuff - glad to hear it :-)
Great !
In the Leo Kottke style.
Stunning Clive beautiful you make it look so easy,so really talented thanks for posting.
Yellow belly, here. This was great. Had my head bobbing up and down.
Sheer joy on your face - and mine - whilst your playing this .
No matter what I’m doing, whenever I see/hear Clive Carrol i just want to go get my guitar. He’s just so fantastic

Have I been promoted? (Christ?). Great playing on a great guitar.

Amazing playing and a great tune! Sounds like something Joplin would write, or certainly enjoy! What tuning are you using here?
I could play all that. With about 25 years more practice plus two years to learn the song. 😂
Looking at a buying a baritone guitar now. I should never have subscribed.
I really like Clive, but this is horrible. Ah well we like what we like
