It was such a clever setup by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor to have the characters alter-ego's come out, seriously, I bet them, and the cast had loads of fun with the idea.
Missed out the bit where Kryten greets the Gelfs by avoiding a handshake and grabbing each other's leg and hopping.
The return of the magnificent Duane Dibley.
While filming the shot of the explosion in the cockpit, they used bits of foam, cork and polystyrene for the debris and fired it out of a pressure cannon. The actors were meant to turn their heads at the right moment so they wouldn’t get hurt. Unfortunately the cannon went off too quick and Danny ( Cat) got it full on in the face which resulted in swelling under his eye. Robert ( Kryten) also got bits of debris lodged in the back of his rubber mask.

When you move onto Red Dwarf 7, it'd be worth picking up the DVD if you haven't already. It has extended versions of the episodes Tikka to Ride, Ouroboros and Duct Soup.

FINALLY a review again of something decent 😀
I remember reading the novels and Lister DID sleep with the gelf in that, and was near to climaxing against his will.
Seeing this episode again, it was worse than I remembered. Too many laboured jokes that you can see coming a mile off, loads of overlong similes, etc.... I get the feeling Doug Naylor wrote most of it, as it's very him.
What a shame Cat couldn't smell the Polymorph in series 3.

@@goldytwatus1674 Well, it's all subjective, I'm glad you enjoy it.
Cat "evolves" quite a bit throughout the show. Here we see him as quite a capable pilot, interacting properly with all of the cockpit tech, something which would have been unthinkable in the first couple of series'. He also grows more "human" over time as well as more educated and witty.

Great episode but unfortunately marks the turning point and end of red dwarf. The moment where Cat has the cool sucked out and his hair and teeth instantly change just so that he can become Dwayne Dibbly and get a man-child audience reaction "huraaahy" marks the beginning of the end. 2/3 more decent episodes and then half the writing team leaves and it's over. All that remains after that is a bunch of "huraaahy"s. Dwayne dibbly makes 73 more appearances, only 3 of them are funny.
