i love hearing that you and cavy are in good company, for a while not seeing any videos of you two since morningtide had me thinking something was going on
Brooksy, seal the timber , paint etc. the porous bare wood will keep mould. that will help. put in a window or generate air flow, that will also help. mould is bad for ur health. ur throat is telling u whats up.
You are living a majority of fisher's dreams. On top of that you are living in one of the best places for fishing. Wish I never moved and I wish I had more money for more setups lol. Thanks for the run-through.
Ventilation is your friend, stick a vent in the door (assume that has lock on it given whats behind it) and a fan in the brick wall where the "light" rods are, and seal all the timber, either paint or wood sealer. Great Vid
Brooksy get a spray bottle, vinegar and metho. Put 1 part of metho to 9 parts of white vinegar and spray the eva grips on the rods. If you're a lazy cnt you don't even have to wipe them down, just spray them and leave them out to dry out before putting them back into storage. I did that with some of my popping and stickbaiting rods and I was shocked at how good the mould disappeared and didn't come back.
There's alot of recommendations here, but keep it simple just buy a stando ~$350 dehumidifier with a drain port, run a hose to a drain and bobs ya uncle. Any normal sized dehumid will sort out that tiny room no worries
A dehumidifier is your friend, have it running all the time and you'll never have any issues with mould 👌 crazy selection of rods, reels and lures mate! 🤙
Thanks for the insight! I am planning on getting a set-up for popper / stickbait fishing for Tuna from the rocks (in Europe). Would you recommend the tobizio TC83 or the TC80 (to have a chance to land a tuna between 50 and 100kg, above 100kg should be nearly impossible to land from shore). I would like to pair it with a Saltiga 20 20000 and saltiga 12x pe 8 or 10. What kind of leader would you suggest, fluoro or mono and what strength? I recently hooked a Tuna of 100+ kg on a cavy popper, but instantly lost it because it cut the leader (I wasn‘t expecting Tuna and had 0,70 fluoro). A few days later I also lost a tuna of about 50kg after a long battle in front of my feet, beacause the saltiga 12x pe 3 (was also not expecting tuna) broke when it made it’s last run…. Both came on the accura H and Saltiga 8000… now I am addicted and want to have a set-up to be prepared. Tips for the set-up will be highly appreciated, as it is hard for me to gain experience fishing from the rocks in Europe. Every hook-up is like winning in the lottery as the chances of it happening are very, very slim.. many thanks, Chris
I just bought a Muthos Accura 100HHH for the rocks. I spent a long time researching, also watching all your videos I settled with zenaq. I tried the rod with a saltiga 14k with pe6 saltiga 12 casting an 80g pencil. Casts a mile. It's going to be my OP setup so I'll probably pair it with a saltiga 20k PE8 for trips up north in the future with my son. BTW you have an incredible collection.
Would you please also create a new/updated FG/PR knot (which ever you use currently) video? Although there are many videos on the internet, seeing an experienced/trusted angler doing the job gives us that reassurance that we need when dealing with our tackles.
Your collection of Zenaq and Daiwa is super impressive. You are so fortunate to have access to the best rods and reels on the planet 🌎. Duo Realis makes some of the best lures as well, I love using JDM gear it’s a bit more expensive but the quality is undeniable. Cheers bro keep putting out fire 🔥 videos. You’re one of my favorite content creators.
Fark n ell brooks, nice man cave... Must be good to be in the loop hey. A mad loop at that. Just a tad green eyed atm. Nice vid, explained why i need a solid blank. great. Keep em cumn.
Went to BCF tweed today picked up a light rod and fast little spinner, braid and a lure . Asked the staff man about local pro fishers with UA-cam .he said Brooksey .Subscribed and keen to learn how to hook some dinner with lures .
Dehumidifer if you don't mind the cost. Should totally solve that issue. You can run a hose to a drain/sink or whatever so you don't have to keep emptying it.
I would be happy to adopt a Black Ledge help clear up the clutter.😂 A dehumidifier will solve the moisture issue easier than painting and disposable moisture traps.
Please install a ventillation system before you get respiratory illness from breathing in the moldy air. You can't see it but it's there. Love your videos man!
That is the dream collection of prime gear. Gives me a woody just looking I at it ! I can’t imagine how sick it would be to be going fishing in the morning at your place. So good bro. Well done to you. Ps: if you have excess I could help out if you need somewhere for it to go :)
Great vid really informative congrats to you on getting to the position you’re in must have taken a shit load of work and hours in regards to your tackle room coming from a cabinet maker definitely need to paint all timber get the paint shop to add mold check to the paint put a large vent in the bottom and top of the door hot air rises and goes out and cool air will come in the bottom a small fan up the back on low oscillating will definitely help.cheers from Andy
About the ventilation. Put a vent in the door. Get one or two bathroom fart fans. Attach them to the light switch. When you turn on the light the vents go on. Insulate and put a ceiling in there. You have a years wages in gear there. Protect it. At least put a floor fan on a cheap timer plug. 🤙🍻
Chuck a small fan in your room lad nd get that air moving and paint your exposed wood and also cut some onions in half and put them in there nd they'll suck up the smell of the mould good for fresh paint smell aswell. Love ya content keep at chur from NZ
If the room is damp, you might want to use an electric dehumidifier instead of the little tub ones you use now. It'll probably draw heaps of water to start with because all the wood in the room is probably damp. Check out Ausclimate, they're pretty good and you set the humidity you want and it'll maintain it, say 50% humidity. One of the rooms in my house used to have a musty smell and after using the dehumidifier it cleared up. I just leave it sitting and on and it'll run when it gets humid. Black mould is very unhealthy so just thought I'd let you know. You can send me an Ikari if you find this useful : )
on the line, I believe in Cortland and Tightline hollow core, worth importing from the US! twist in hollow is actually much less of a problem than in solid, more apearent, but strength and especially abraision resistance is MUCH less effected and it is less likely to get cut on structure anyway. for leader I will try varivas, though I found a good, quite cheap mono will usually do about the same as fancy, expensive stuff. for hooks and split rings I go BKK, hate decoy hooks(break real easy) and the splitties are bulky and bend easier than BKK in my experience.
agree with a lot of the comments mate. seal the timber n get air flow in there. u can also keep the moisture absorber in there for added benefit. mate the ex n my daughter got really sick n it turned out to be mold that got into the celling n came into the house down the inside of the walls. it took some getting rid of but wen it was gone all was better for them. done mess with mold Brooksy for ur own health but also Brooke n all the visitors.
Hay legend, I see you and a few other guys up your way are big fans of daiwa. Is that a personal preference or have you had bad experiences with other brands. I’ve always used Stella. How do they measure up in your opinion? Cheers
This video was great. Really enjoyed it. Id love to see some advice on gear that is a bit more affordable for your average bloke. Maybe the collaboration with Wilson might bring some of that more modest gear into play, like the ATC reels and bone rods etc.
Couple hundred bucks could get you decent dehumidifier. I had same problem and had half dozen or so of those moisture traps. Went to electric dehumidifier and soooo much better!
we use the cheaper / thicker Jbraid here in the states but our fish don't pull as hard as a GT. jbraid is probably the strongest 40# that i own. generally our lines are rated for what is on the package. 40 breaks at 40. my complaint about the jbraid in the states is the thickness once the line has gotten wet and absorbed some water. it bows in the wind and you lose a little distance on your cast. right now i'm taking the bad with the good because the standard jbraid is so cheap, but i might try that expedition line if the cost isn't too great.
I love J-Braid but their Samurai braid is on another level. It's so thin for the same breaking strength that the 40lb feels like the same diameter as 20lb J-Braid
Get a dehumidifier, I had the dame problem and the dehumidifier solved my mold problem, my unorganized tackel is a problem I cant seem to get under control.
Thanks, Brooksy! Super cool to see all that gear. Is that lure that I won during that Twitch stream years ago hiding in that tackle room? Just kidding man!
damn, I had almost wrote Australia off cause of the difficulty to immigrate(me and my girl, me from Germany, she from Brazil) want to move together to a different country, she cause of political reasons, me for fishing and I had pretty much convinced myself that the canaries(as an EU citizen I could just move there, while off the west african coast the islands belong to Spain, no immigration needed and so could she as long as we got married)... I mean the canaries have Mahi and some other cool stuff from shore but Australia has just so much more to offer, especially if like for me a couple days driving isn't a big deal... i mean I have planned to fly to Brazil in 3-4 months, 2-3 months later directly from there for another 2-3 months to Australia and a few months later the islands by car and ferry, which I will do AU is already ahead again, not only a lot more of the fish that interest me but thanks to the management also better stocks. is there any possibility to maybe meet up while I'm there to really get a feel for the land? Brooks use vinegar tea tree mix you gotta kill the mould spores
Before wiping/ cleaning or you’ll spread them, probably already know this but yeah 🤙🤘
