Brooksy, seal the timber , paint etc. the porous bare wood will keep mould. that will help. put in a window or generate air flow, that will also help. mould is bad for ur health. ur throat is telling u whats up.

Ventilation is your friend, stick a vent in the door (assume that has lock on it given whats behind it) and a fan in the brick wall where the "light" rods are, and seal all the timber, either paint or wood sealer. Great Vid

    Nice setup.
definitely recommend a small commercial dehumidifier for your room, can be pricey but that’ll solve your issues with the mould

Brooksy get a spray bottle, vinegar and metho. Put 1 part of metho to 9 parts of white vinegar and spray the eva grips on the rods. If you're a lazy cnt you don't even have to wipe them down, just spray them and leave them out to dry out before putting them back into storage. I did that with some of my popping and stickbaiting rods and I was shocked at how good the mould disappeared and didn't come back.

There's alot of recommendations here, but keep it simple just buy a stando ~$350 dehumidifier with a drain port, run a hose to a drain and bobs ya uncle. Any normal sized dehumid will sort out that tiny room no worries

    Thanks for the insight!
I am planning on getting a set-up for popper / stickbait fishing for Tuna from the rocks (in Europe). Would you recommend the tobizio TC83 or the TC80 (to have a chance to land a tuna between 50 and 100kg, above 100kg should be nearly impossible to land from shore). I would like to pair it with a Saltiga 20 20000 and saltiga 12x pe 8 or 10.
What kind of leader would you suggest, fluoro or mono and what strength?
I recently hooked a Tuna of 100+ kg on a cavy popper, but instantly lost it because it cut the leader (I wasn‘t expecting Tuna and had 0,70 fluoro). A few days later I also lost a tuna of about 50kg after a long battle in front of my feet, beacause the saltiga 12x pe 3 (was also not expecting tuna) broke when it made it’s last run….
Both came on the accura H and Saltiga 8000… now I am addicted and want to have a set-up to be prepared.
Tips for the set-up will be highly appreciated, as it is hard for me to gain experience fishing from the rocks in Europe. Every hook-up is like winning in the lottery as the chances of it happening are very, very slim..
    many thanks, Chris

I just bought a Muthos Accura 100HHH for the rocks. I spent a long time researching, also watching all your videos I settled with zenaq. I tried the rod with a saltiga 14k with pe6 saltiga 12 casting an 80g pencil. Casts a mile. It's going to be my OP setup so I'll probably pair it with a saltiga 20k PE8 for trips up north in the future with my son. BTW you have an incredible collection.

Great vid really informative congrats to you on getting to the position you’re in must have taken a shit load of work and hours in regards to your tackle room coming from a cabinet maker definitely need to paint all timber get the paint shop to add mold check to the paint put a large vent in the bottom and top of the door hot air rises and goes out and cool air will come in the bottom a small fan up the back on low oscillating will definitely help.cheers from Andy

About the ventilation. Put a vent in the door. Get one or two bathroom fart fans. Attach them to the light switch. When you turn on the light the vents go on. Insulate and put a ceiling in there. You have a years wages in gear there. Protect it. At least put a floor fan on a cheap timer plug. 🤙🍻

  • @nospamful
    @nospamful 8 місяців тому

If the room is damp, you might want to use an electric dehumidifier instead of the little tub ones you use now. It'll probably draw heaps of water to start with because all the wood in the room is probably damp. Check out Ausclimate, they're pretty good and you set the humidity you want and it'll maintain it, say 50% humidity. One of the rooms in my house used to have a musty smell and after using the dehumidifier it cleared up. I just leave it sitting and on and it'll run when it gets humid. Black mould is very unhealthy so just thought I'd let you know.
You can send me an Ikari if you find this useful : )

on the line, I believe in Cortland and Tightline hollow core, worth importing from the US! twist in hollow is actually much less of a problem than in solid, more apearent, but strength and especially abraision resistance is MUCH less effected and it is less likely to get cut on structure anyway. for leader I will try varivas, though I found a good, quite cheap mono will usually do about the same as fancy, expensive stuff. for hooks and split rings I go BKK, hate decoy hooks(break real easy) and the splitties are bulky and bend easier than BKK in my experience.

we use the cheaper / thicker Jbraid here in the states but our fish don't pull as hard as a GT. jbraid is probably the strongest 40# that i own. generally our lines are rated for what is on the package. 40 breaks at 40. my complaint about the jbraid in the states is the thickness once the line has gotten wet and absorbed some water. it bows in the wind and you lose a little distance on your cast. right now i'm taking the bad with the good because the standard jbraid is so cheap, but i might try that expedition line if the cost isn't too great.

damn, I had almost wrote Australia off cause of the difficulty to immigrate(me and my girl, me from Germany, she from Brazil) want to move together to a different country, she cause of political reasons, me for fishing and I had pretty much convinced myself that the canaries(as an EU citizen I could just move there, while off the west african coast the islands belong to Spain, no immigration needed and so could she as long as we got married)... I mean the canaries have Mahi and some other cool stuff from shore but Australia has just so much more to offer, especially if like for me a couple days driving isn't a big deal... i mean I have planned to fly to Brazil in 3-4 months, 2-3 months later directly from there for another 2-3 months to Australia and a few months later the islands by car and ferry, which I will do AU is already ahead again, not only a lot more of the fish that interest me but thanks to the management also better stocks. is there any possibility to maybe meet up while I'm there to really get a feel for the land? Queensland would've been my first choice anyway and I know enough about fishing in new locations that completely on my own it would take years, not weeks or months to get a good idea of what things are like
