@@reignick1133 I grew up in Hattiesburg and people talk about the humidity and bugs in the summer, but that bone chilling cold is something else. When is 35 outside at 100% humidity, you’ll be like “nope”! Keep that paint dry and in the shade.

That tm40 100% sounds quieter and smoother than the idol. Maybe the tm40 is just broken in 🤷♂️
TM40 is a phenomenal value, now.
If Idol parts are made available down to road to upgrade the tm40, sure.

You have magic fingers Brad ! I think the TM40 make less noise but the IDOL is so nice I shot it and the accuracy is just spot on with Rec ball and the large barrel bore
I dont see the idol as being something thats supposed to perform any better than the tm40 but rather the idol is for QOL improvements and ease of anodizing. So for QOL they changed the air transfer posts, the magnets, reduced to only 1 loctited screw, grips and the new frame design for the trigger wall to keep from damaging the switch, the front foregrip screw and the change to the asa.
They fixed issues that a properly designed marker shouldn't have had to begin with.🤷♂️

Sound signature is definitely noticeable in the TM vs. the IDOL, TM sounds 'poofier' like the DSR series, whereas the IDOL seems to be more like a PE (dare I say even a GEO vs CS), based on the initial shots. I think the labels at the @1:00 mark are off though, it says TM40 and then at @1:20 you say "let's get the TM40" which is what you would've just been using.
Also, for claiming it's their most re-designed marker, when you had them side by side in the very beginning, I couldn't tell you which was which without the foregrip.
Comparing sounds is just so unnecessary. It’s the Same gun with another Display. There is no difference, same gun but newer and higher price for the „luxury“.

Let’s be real, this sport is very “gucci” in the sense of new stuff (guns, loaders, packs, what have you). I think an older video hit the nail on the head with the question of, “how much more innovative can we get?” We pay for cool, new stuff because, well, it’s cool and new. But the functionality from a well maintained, used $500 luxe x and a new $1800 IDOL…I mean what are we really paying for as far as performance? Is it $1300 worth of improvement? I doubt it. This goes for all marker manufacturers.
Agreed. I’ve been telling people, the IV and Gamma Cores are the peak of spool drivetrains, as the dump valve design has proven to be the most reliable and consistent in a spool valve marker, and these were introduced in 2014(IV) and 2015(Gamma). Anything after are just very minuscule refinements that no one really cares about when you’re in the middle of a game.
I’m with ya, it’s been this way for about 7ish years. All relative, I drive a Kia some people daily a Lambo.
It seriously makes me so sad to see paintball creators barely get any subscribers, likes, and views when they put so much effort into their videos. Part of the reason why we need to grow the sport :)

Paintball is dead as a subject. People wearing gopros working at fast food restaurants kill it in views. Put a random hot chick in a thumbnail and you'll get the entire years paintball content view count in 1 upload.

Yeah pretty much, from these two guns at least.
I'm too busy eyeing that carbon mask though. Assuming you tried both, do you notice any breathability differences between the more coverage and less coverage?
Never really thought about. I imagine they are the same, I would be shocked if anyone could tell a difference though.
Why doesn't anyone ever talk about "ball path characteristics"? I remember back in the day how the sft and nxt shockers would shoot with a bit of an arch and tuck down sharp at the end; the Timmi's seemed to send the ball with a flatter push and spread left and right a little more; DM's were kind of in-between those two patterns, without the drop off at the end; mechanical Cockers would sling darts, with no left to right spread; some popit valves would kick a bit and the pattern would be tighter left to right with a bit of vertical spread to the pattern...
They don't look that different either. I genuinely would have a hard time distinguishing btw the 2 if they were the same color.
There is more of a click with the Idol but irl that could be less apparent.
Interesting that the idol decided to make a front foregrip similar to the virtue Ace . . Also sound wise I hear the tm40 with more of an air puff and the idol has more of a metal ting sound especially when ramping. Personally if you have a tm40 already I don't think it's worth it to move to the idol just yet . As for people using rsx or xls still I think it's time to move to the shocker era .. it seems to have fixed the issues that was making people apprehensive of buying the shocker amp
It’s almost as if paintball technology evolved to its peak 5 years ago and poor saps thinking buying the newest and most expensive will make them a better player….🤷♂️
but but but the newest variants operate a 1/10th of a psi less, and will get an extra 10 shots on a 98ci tank! It's kinda crazy that the technological advancements in paintball have kind of pushed the sport to its own demise over the years.

They both sound the same, I feel like all high-end guns have hit their ceiling for now. Maybe if the bps cap went away or mech keeps growing we will see something change.
They need to lower the bps cap again so encourage "action".

I'm a believer of having a variety of guns at least 6 these types of guns can be found relatively cheap my tm40 was 450 heck if a deal for such a smooth gun 550 for a tm40 is a solid deal
I just sold my tm40. I want to run something else for my high end. Maybe an m3+, only platform I haven't tried now. For now I have an Insight, just got a g6r 2 weeks ago, a vice, vanquish gt, axe, dsr+, and etha 3m.
Id use the Vanquish, always liked those guns.
I've been out of the sport for about 8 years and honestly it seems like paintball has been in the realm of marginal gains for 2 decades.
I think in order to get back into it I need to focus on the game vs equipment.

honestly, weve come to a level where higher markers from now and previous gens dont have a perceivable difference in performance anymore. I think the industry should start focusing on other sectors of Paintball.
E-markers, hoppers, masks have been stagnant for years. We are still lacking in the pump scene, tournament exposure, budget customizable project mechs, etc. Maybe we gotta pivot as a sport
The Idol has a slight ping in the shot , Tm40 sounds like a cs2

I won't buy a Luxe no matter the price. Might as well buy a PE gun it's based off of.
will never buy a smart parts gun, company owners are scumbags, theres better guns from other manufacturers anyways.

Eh I already have a Luxe ICE, a Macdev GT2 (Which is the smoothest marker I have ever shot) , the Prime XTS , the XDR, a Shocker XLS and over 40 other markers to choose from.
I got enough High ends and historical markers that I am spoiled for choice depending on mood.
This is flashy, but I ain't running out to buy it.

We need better paint on average, or you won't notice a big difference.
It's not like when I started and Marballizer, Proball Platinum, and Hellfire were everywhere.
People shoot really shitty cheap paint on average and their guns just don't perform their best.
The TM40 sounds a lot quieter
The TM40 is dedicated to a player and the ion isn’t the TM40 was made w that player in mind so when you purchase that platform it’s way better than the ion just alone on those facts, then the gun kicks ass alone. TM40 all the way
not worth the price. both of them suck compared to a dsr+ or most newer PE guns. at least a used tm40 is probably worth what they go for.
At the end of the day a paintball goes 300 fps out of every gun
