- In today's video, I am going to be going over my ultimate recommendation for graphics settings within Escape from Tarkov in the new 0.14 wipe in order to help reduce stutters, improve FPS and also make the game look much better. Not only that but this video will give a great insight on why my game runs so smooth even on the streets expansion which is, at the moment, the most unoptimized map and the biggest map in all of EFT. I will also go over what Post FX settings I use in order to make enemies more visible both inside and outside.

About the game:
Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features and a story-driven walkthrough.
With each passing day the situation in the Norvinsk region grows more and more complicated. Incessant warfare in Tarkov has sparked massive panic; the local population has fled the city, but those who stayed are looking to improve their fortunes at the expense of others. Having accepted the new reality, savage Tarkov locals - "Scavs" flocked into well-armed gangs and started the redivision of the city. Nowadays, Tarkov is separated by unseen borders, controlled by different groups. Gain-greedy gunmen would go to any length to have their way, including the murder of civilians and direct confrontation with the two private military companies.
The players will have to experience living in the skin of one of the mercenaries who survived the initial stage of the Tarkov conflict. After choosing one of the sides - USEC or BEAR - the player’s character starts to make his way out of the city. Tarkov is sealed off by UN and Russian military, supply chains are cut, communication with operational command is lost, and in these conditions everyone has to make his own choices of what to do and how to get out of the chaos-ridden metropolis.

Yeah more so when its snowing rather than when its laying on the ground but it makes sense cos of all the extra textures needing to be rendered

Thanks Samosh for the annual wipe settings vid. One question I'm sure its not an issue, but In the manage 3d settings I didn't have the option 2 setting to high performance but could follow all the other steps?
Not a problem at all, if you don't have it, you can try reinstalling Nvidia control panel from their website but honestly, wont matter too much as long as you change the game to use the high performance card in the Windows settings (as shown slightly earlier in the vid)

thanks for the vid! Seem to work great for me here. Have two questions; I have two monitors and usually have discord open with a map on the 2nd. If I want to use my mouse on the 2nd monitor in game is there an easy way to do this without minimizing your game/black screen on the main monitor? Also do you have a hotkeys vid? Thanks again
Put on borderless and then you can alt tab over to other applications keeps game window open. It's not true borderless tho bc you have to alt tab to get mouse able to move over
Hey mate, thanks for watching. you can use borderless if you are switching, or ALT TAB in Fullscreen but it will minimize the game... as for hotkeys, I play the game with default controls (only thing I change is the Sprint key from PRESS to Continuous)

One question, I can't find my max frame rate (@4.40) since i only see 60HZ at the change resolution tap. Or is 60HZ ~165 max frame rate?
It varies from monitor to monitor, mine is 165 so i change that in there, yours may be different. Id search up your model number of your monitor online and see what it says

i have only one question what cpu do you have? and how much Vram is used if you have 8gb
any tips for settings to help spot people, I seem to be missing people all the time at the moment, probably me just being a terrible gamer LOL. But wondered if you think a particular way to go may help
Had the same struggle. On amd and what majorly helped me for visual clarity was going into adrenaline and enabling tessellation>override game settings>x32
the "streets of tarkov lower resolution mode" is that only needed to be ticked when playing that map or is it useful to have on for all maps, ?
I been playing the new ground zero map and mostly Customs
I’m sure it’s just for optimization of streets but I would play customs or ground zero with it on or off and see if you realize a difference

With your 3070 laptop, whats the best fps you can get? And do u have any different settings for graphics specifically for the laptop to optimise the fps? Trynna get to my max fps i can on my gaming laptop

I use the vsync to uncap fps so it goes above the in game limit
The settings work great but when I get in a fight it starts to tear. Does anyone know the cause of this? I have 3060 with Ryzen 5600X
this wipe seems much darker than any other. Trees/shadows and any other dark area its now pitch black and I can't see anything. I've tried everything I can think of to fix this problem and come up with no solutions. Is anyone else having this problem?

If you never get "waiting for players" on starting a raid please reduce Textures, we are all waiting for you!!!!
Lod 2 can increase performance only for low end machines. 2.5 is the best of reducing popins, and increasing performance. However objects a t a great distance still don't get rendered, sometimes when sniping resulting in shooting at enemies that are behind invisible cover.
Viewdistance 1000 is enough, unless you are sniping beyond that distance, 400 is enough for most small maps.1000 can reduce performance even when you are in buildings, because of the windows.
HBAO at least on performance increases the looks quiet a bit, but if you need extra performance and want to get rid of darker corners turn it off.
SSR is beatifull, but low setting stops the reflection of objects at a 1,5 metre mark; medium foor the looks. But can cost quiet a bit peformance.
Aniso Filtering only "per texture " is needed; makes the ground and walls look better in the distance, but turning it off makes spotting enemies easier, because ground becomes a grey smushy mess. Also on maps with a lot of walls it tends to draw bit more performance .
Reflex on is enough; boost can cause hiccups.
MIP Streaming stresses the CPU ,loading in higher texture resolutions when you move nearer to the objects. If you have enough V-Ram you don't need that setting at all. And if your V-Ram is to low, you can only use this setting eficient if your CPU has some power to spare.
High Quality color can cost quiet a bit of performance while offering a barely noticable impact on coloring, not needed because most players use the ingame filters anywas.
Shadows on low used to offload it to the cpu, at least run shadows mid to free some cpu power. (also shadows low looks shit)
For the in game Filters the sharpening effects there can cost some frames too, use the sharpening in the graphics setting tab instead.
You should test "use physical cores only" in game tab, some cpus are better with this setting on.

I think if you're streaming HAGS would only do worse, no? Some conflict with OBS... or they fixed it?

Any changes to the snow?
I have a very similar laptop setup as you, but I have been struggling with performance the past two wipes. I was wondering what your average fps typically is? I'm going to try these settings as well and let ya know how it runs for me. I have a 3070, Ryzen 9, 40 gb ram, and a 165 mhz 2k monitor.
Edit: so after trying your settings the game looks beautiful and will run well initially. However after a minute or two I begin to randomly get huge frame drops ( from 70 - 80 fps down to 20 - 30). Changing my textures to medium and DLSS to performance fixed this but the game does not look nearly as good sadly. 😢
try these settings again when the snow has gone - should see an improvement with that, - and it could also be server side with the frame drops
With a laptop frame drops are usually caused by thermal throttling. Clean your fans if you haven’t in a while and maybe undervolt your gpu and cpu to keep temps down

Do you play with reflex + boost? I noticed that made a difference in performance boost.
@@user-bu7hh3jd8k i've been messing around with off, on, and on + boost a little bit haven't noticed any drastic changes. I will do some more testing today.
These settings make my game crash on startup on my GTX 970 not sure what exactly the cause is.

Was the V-Sync patched? I used to have this set up to uncap FPS, but it is not selectable for me now. Any ideas?
Don't worry about this one - upgraded my cpu and now i am able to turn on V-Sync in game. I do have a follow on question... if you have V-Sync enabled in game settings, can you limit lobby fps? Or is turning v-sync off/on the only way?
I dont have the select the preferred graphics processor for this program setting.. any way to make it show cause i have a rtx3080

have they actually fixed Binaural audio? i have not been using it for a long time due to the bugged sound that came with it.
it is not that its bugged the ting is that option causes fps drop too
Its fair to say both are shit - audio this patch has taken a small nosedive but I seem to hear better around me when its on

@@samosh alright i might just try it out and see how i like it. BTW do you guy also have masive decrese in FPS like i have avage 50-60 fps on Customs with the new snow effect i am using the same grapic settings as you. grapic drives up to date and so on.

Just reinstalled drivers from scratch as I was getting little stutters when playing streets. Forgot my settings would be wiped, so this is good thank you.
also not sure why streets runs like shit for me, 5900x, 64Gb of ram at 3200, 3080 gpu

Is there a reason for disabling Vsync in NVCP and enabling it in the game? I know that for most games, it is usually better to have this the other way around, but it would not surprise me in the slightest if tarkov was an exception to this practice.
I do the same as it unlocks your frames rather than being capped at 144 without vsync actually running

the only thing i suggest is using Cognac value 20 in postfx.
i tried the one you use, but i couldn't see anything in dark spots. like zb14 was almost total obscurity.
Yeah Postfx will always be different for everyone, I just load into interchange offline go into the mall, tweak it, go outside, tweak it again and then I usually have something I can stick with for any map.

Hey guys, hoping someone can help me. I have an RTX 2070 super with a i7-11700KF and 32gb ram (ddr4). My game runs between 60-140 fps (frame drop A LOT - feels like I'm at like 70-80 most of the time but just feels like it runs very poorly). Wondering why the fps drops happen so often and how to make game play smoother - I'd rather have 90-100fps consistently without ANY frame drops. What can I do within game settings or would anyone recommend I upgrade either CPU or GPU? Thanks in advance!

Do people actually test the nvidia control panel settings? Do they even make a difference or is it just passed down inbreeding?
I’m running a 3600x a RTX 2070s and 32gb of ram and all my maps run like shit I’ve tried every settings video on UA-cam and nothing seems to do anything. In an offline raid I run about 50-80 fps on the defaults maps like woods but the new maps I run at like 20-30 fps with stuttering in OFFLINE. This game is so frustrating I wish the dev team really cared about their players!

Just want to add something. I would change the FPS in Nvidia/AMD to 3-4 (or like I did, 10) below the monitors refresh rate. That is to stop it from hitting the limit and bouncing down which can cause some tearing etc.
or... you can set it to for example: your monitor max RR: 60 abd then set it to 59 fps :D that worked for me :3
You still want some headroom (more than 1fps, at least 3fps) for hitting the cap and bouncing back @@BlackDiamondGTV

My native resolution don't allow me to have the Highest Hz possible, caps it to 60Hz - The Native option is under Ultra HD, HD, SD 1080p, 1920x1080 - i use PC 1080X1920 for 144Hz

V-Sync will and does cause input lag. Make sure the people know! Better fighting performance play with V-Sync off 100% always every single time
Yup. I literally never enable vsync. It only introduces input delay, which is fine if you are playing at a locked framerate with a controller, but feels terrible with a mouse.
There is a thing where you enable it in game and then you disable it from the nvidia control panel this makes it so you uncap your frames from 140 I personally use it cause i get more than 140 with no downsides but i wouldnt use it if i would get under 140

The part about textures really isn't true, they should be on low. Reduced texture detail equals lower visual noise. Old quake players even used to remove textures so everything was incredibly flat. Something moving stands out much more against a solid background than a noisy one.
This game doesn’t have people moving as much as quake though you’re more likely to see people sitting in a bush or against a background because there is more definition between each texture

@@samosh I turned it off, and these were the problems: Alt+Tab not working properly -> Night mode not working properly -> Saving settings gives black screen for a minute (didn’t change anything like windowed fullscreen).I don’t think these things depend on the specs…
