    Thanks! Our son has an offer from SA and we are very excited for him. It seems like a beautiful and wonderful place to study.

    I applied to St.Andrews ( my high school was right across the street from Stanford) and there was a college scout who visited my high school but I didn’t have the SAT scores & grades to get in but that’s ok!
    I’m so glad you had the privilege to go to this school.

      random to just shout out that your school is across from Stanford considering it has nothing to do with St andrew’s

    Best pronunciation of 'Edinburgh' ever! You even got the trilled 'r'.

    Hi, I’m a junior in high school from Illinois. I’ve been looking into studying abroad in the UK for college. I work fairly hard in high school and get mostly A’s and a few B’s in all honors classes. Since you mentioned the test being very hard, I was wondering how studying would compare to high school and how hard the tests are compared to tests in the US. Thanks.

      I find that test in UK schools aren't particularly difficult if you remember to take notes in class and do revision.Its not like everything in the tests is new information as you would've learnt what is needed in previous lessons :)

    Did you meet with the St Andrews admissions recruiter for your state during the application process? Did you go for an in person interview?

    Thanks for your video! My daughter is thinking about applying SA. We visited campus few years back, it is beautiful! My daughter has hearing loss. So the big class size is concerning me. She is also thinking about small liberal art school here in east coast. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    What did you study? How is the "English" major? any suggestions for accommodations application? ST A's talks a lot about no "hand holding" what do they mean? Love your video! My daughter accepted and starts in the Fall. Can't wait for her to experience this and I'm sharing your fab video with her! Now to get the visa--seems so overwhelming!

      Hello! English major is great- lots of reading and writing. St Andrews is not easy though. The grading system is weird compared to the US system. 1-20 scale. I would take the first year social anthropology class when there. Most St Andrews accommodations are great because you get your own room and don't have to share. When filling it out make sure to be very honest about your preferences and lifestyle.
      No hand holding- it's a pretty decent sized school so if you don't go to class or do your assignments they will not come looking for you. You get out of classes what you put in basically. You have to be very self determined and motivated. Scottish people adopt a 9-5 work ethic. They work 9-5 but after that hang out.

    i’m assuming that you didn’t go home during the holiday season, if you stayed in scotland or if you know someone who did where did they stay?

    • @eloisesplaza925
      @eloisesplaza925  4 роки тому +1

      Most people I know had apartments so they stayed there. For holidays like Thanksgiving you can stay in student accommodations but for Christmas which is a month break (or sometimes longer) I would go home :)

    Hello there! Thank you for this talk! I wonder is it true that St.Andrews has less to do during the weekend, compared to location like London? I like to explore and visit many wonderful places in the UK since I am an international student. Also, given that I am not an American, would you say it's very hard for me to fit in? I really bought in to what people say about the 'inclusive' community and awesome traditions in St.Andrews. But due to the fact that I am the minority group, would you say it will be a bit difficult for me to study there for 4 years? Do you have any advice for me to choose St.Andrews or UCL?

    • @eloisesplaza925
      @eloisesplaza925  4 роки тому +2

      UCL is definitely going to have a lot more to do on the weekends because it is in a big city. Also, there will probably be a more diverse group of students/people in the community at UCL just because of the city location. However, St. Andrews is very inclusive and I'm sure you would find your people! There are many international students at St. Andrews too, not only from America, but all over Europe, Asia, and more.

    Welcome to St Andrews😃. Though I am sure if I can still say so since I am no longer living in there. I had been studying and living in St Andrews for five years and I graduated in July 2020. Without being able to say goodbye to so many people there. Like the Owner of Empire kebab in opposite of student union. And also the staff and the owner of Jahangir Tandoor Restaurant. I used to had lunch or dinner quite a lot at these two.
    Please, Please, Please do me a favor if you could. Help me say thank you and goodbye to them from a Chinese guy called Peter. Thank you so much and wish you a wonderful experience at St Andrews.
