I have not only liked, I've watched commercials without skipping! Mama Flo deserves all of it. If I'll ever be privileged enough to visit Nigeria, I feel like I'd get around with ease because of her.
Hi Flo, I recently came across your channel right before my visit to Nigeria this December. Me and my family stay in Oko. It’s crazy watching this video because this is how my Mom, my brothers, and I were looking for where to see the masquerades in Afor haha we definitely were watching in the car though. My new favorite channel, I was born and raised in America but you definitely keep me connected to home when I’m not here.
Thank you very much for showing this kind of tradition to the world my heart filled with joy and happiness seeing the culture of my beloved one salute madam and regards to your family.... Filipino by nature Igbo by heart ❤️
Village life is so sweet. Oh how I miss Nnewi so much. This video just reminds me of going to the village with my parents from lagos and how we go visiting other towns in Anambra. Enjoyed watching the masquerade and smaller masquerades going to folks home performing and asking for money. Christmas at the village was always the best. So one thing i can say is that Anambra state government have failed to solve this erosion problem across the state. At my moms village in Nnewichi Nnewi, erosion have destroyed so many lives and properties. If you go to Okofia Otolo near NAUTH same story, some parts of my village have been ruined by erosion. We used to go to the stream to fetch water but i am not sure if that stream is still there. I have always passed through Agulu lake on my way to my secondary in Awka. Once we get there, then i know that I will be in school shortly. Anyways I definitely need to visit again. Thank you so much Flo for sharing your village sights and sounds with us.
U are giving my hubby n I life. This boring Australia. My hubby is now addicted to ur posts so much he even reminds me let's watch Christmas in naija. I 'll nt miss naija this yr Christmas thanks to u.
I think more than anything else, you are building fantastic memories for your boy that will last a life time I've had so many wonderful Christmas celebration but I am always transported back in time to when I was a kid and the place my parents took us to, what we did, how we saw stuff and the sacrifice they made Its so many years now and somehow, Christmas today is great but those years remain priceless Your son is truly lucky and everyone of us who strives to give this to our family today should remember they are making forever memories that would stand the test of time
Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Made me remember my childhood days with my parents with nostalgia. They ensured that we visited all of the places of interest on the island. Where there was no road we walked. Sometimes it rained and we were soaked to the skin but we enjoyed every moment. My father gave the same advice, 'stay as a group, don't run' and that was a long time ago! I celebrate you as a mother for giving your children this invaluable education. Gone are our days of real masquerade. Today it has turned to an exhibition of the skin and has lost its intrigue.
Great exposure by your parents. 👍 O yes, when I was younger, that sound the masquerades make with their mouths alone would send shivers down one's spine but now? The intrigue is gone.
I was just laughing all through...I once ran from a masquerade and my slippers cut,in the process i matched a bottle and still hid it so that i'll be allowed to go and watch again the next day. The joy of Christmas
I love you're travel vids. Nigeria looks so beautiful. I envy you're roots. I have nothing like this, I am American, but if I were younger I think I'd want to live in Africa. God Bless.
If you have a close African friend, you can maybe travel home with them someday for the fun of it - just a holiday. I hear some blacks who are not Africans speak like this and it always hurts me for their sake. I mean, I could take such a friend with me to Africa for the fun of it. Why not make friends with good African folks around you. You could still get to experience this you know...
Gaylynn Watts It's even better to be in Africa in old age bcos Africans don't do old people's homes- we take care of our aged ones in their homes or they live with their children till they pass on....communal life is alive and well in Africa
Niger Delta Mirror TV Its not true in all cases dear. My igbo female friend family had a bad experience whereby the village people and paid housemaid neglected her father who retired there. They had to collect him from the hospital there and bring him back to UK for urgent health care. He was in his early 80’s. Sadly he passed just before Christmas. People were collecting money and never informed the family that their father was not doing fine. It is a very sad case and I was very saddened about it 🙏🏽

Omg. Aunty Flo, this video is simply waoooo. I don't know where to start commenting from, I have to call my daughter that has never been to east for Christmas to watch. While growing up the masquerade had made me bath with sand several times at Mbaukwu. Or made us pour away the water we suffered to fetch from the stream. Chjneke.

He told me that people's houses fell into it as well. As for Masquerade, do you sit down to watch Masquerade? I remember the first time I went to Nigeria in the 80's as a child I was almost flogged by a Masquerade as I had no clue what they were, all I heard from my cousin's was "Run! RUN!!" 😂😂😂

Christmas in Naija is very sweet, see people everywhere eating and drinking. I'm so scared of masquerade, when I was like 10 years, I fell and got dislocation in my hand because i was running from masquerade.
See how nice the roads are. Where in Imo state can you find such? It's so terrible and annoying that ordinary roads cannot be maintained. Thank you for posting this. Happy New year aunty 🍾😎
I wept when I visited home recently. No single road was good. Owerri used to be the cleanest city in Nigeria before with all streets tarred. Not anymore😭. No presence of government in the whole of Imo State.
Nigeria has beautiful scenes of life, culture, and happiness. I love seeing your posts because it brings a smile to my face because I may travel to Nigeria this year.
