I worked there for 5 years back in the 90s. Before security cameras and swipe cards, any regular person in the hotel could've taken the service elevator onto the field
+SuperStrik9 I agree, I don't know what peoples problem with it is. After spending years at Exhibition Stadium in cold, shitty weather in the spring and fall, sitting on those steel benches down the first base line, the Skydome was a god send.
It wasn't exactly completed on schedule. There were delays that caused the Blue Jays to continue playing out of Exhibition Stadium for the beginning of the 1989 baseball season. In addition, the grand opening ceremonies proved that the stadium wasn't ready to host events. Many seats and railings weren't properly attached. The roof didn't always respond as intended and there were leaks. It turned out to be a pretty interesting building, but answered all of the wrong questions. The designers asked "How do we built a mutlipurpose facility with a retractable roof? Baseball fans have said time and time again that they want a baseball stadium that maximizes performance on the field and provides a good experience for fans. Football fans had similar desires. Neither baseball or football fans were ultimately happy with the results over the long term. And even concert goers and those who took in other events found it lacking. So you have a multipurpose stadium that attempts to appeal to many people and host many events and pleases none of these groups. And in fact as one of only two Major League Baseball stadiums with artificial turf, many players have found the environment lacking.
Good to see the old boys I grew up with. Borders, Magrif, Bell, Gruber. Good times!

Screw the haters, I love the SkyDome. You are always guaranteed a game and never have to sit through weather delays.

It's the only ballpark where you can spend the night.
That baby near the end of the video is 30 years old now. Let that sink in a bit.
Not all babies live to reach adulthood.
0:11 : Was that a cheap shot at Olympic Stadium? lol
No doubt. He didn't stutter. Olympic Stadium was the only other major league stadium that could compare at the time.
You better believe it was! 🤣

스카 이돔 내 작두 입성
It was the last of the multi-purpose monstrosity stadiums. Not long afterward, Camden Yards ushered in the return to ballparks.
At least the Skydome was a modern-era multi-purpose stadium, that's still around 30+ years later.
@@pomerlain8924 Because they can't afford a proper ballpark.
Lol mcgrifth had some bad cards playing
I like how they incorrectly called it "THE" Skydome.
Those crazy Americans and their strange English. He probably doesn't like Hockey either.
