    Hey Jason, most of the information you gave on what Gary used for the recording is right, however i am a MASSIVE Gary Moore fan and i have to correct a few things! He did use a JTM45 reissue through a 4x12 Marshall cab loaded with Electro-Voice speakers with a Marshall Guv'nor pedal pushing the front end. The reverb came from a Alesis Midiverb II rack effect unit. And he didnt use the Peter Green/Gary Moore 59 he used another 59 he got a couple of years before the recording known as "Stripe" or the Still Got The Blues les paul, which he kept and recorded/toured with right up until his passing. Otherwise great job!!

    Hey bro, I’m a big Gary Moore fan and that’s the closest I’ve heard to the ‘still got the blues’ tone. WTG and thank you for the upload to customtone. So stoked to try this out. Keep em coming sir!

    Wow, amazing how the Minotaur gives that extra push, and really gives the guitar the sustain it needs for this tune. Singing tone, man!

    This is dimly recalled, so I don't know how accurate it is, but I read that Gary's settings were pretty much Tap-style everything-goes-to-11. The all-knobs-open approach is pretty true to form, if that's the case (and it definitely evoked the sound, so...).

    • @JasonSadites

      Thanks for the info, and it does seem to work in this case! Just felt right as I was messing with it :-)

    Hi Jason. Great tone as always.
    I always thought that still got the blues was recorded with a soldano SLO. I've seen a documentary many years ago about that.
    Any way .....No mater the tone, you always find a way to get there.
    Sound starts from the hands of the player.
    By the way, loved your album.
    Great playing man! !

      @JasonSadites  6 років тому

      Thanks so much for the kind words Solonas :-) Really glad you like the new album! It could very well have been recorded with an SLO. The research I did said it was a JTM 45 but as I mentioned in the video, I have no way of confirming any of that. Glad you liked the video, thanks for the comment!

    Really great tone, and a patch that I will certainly make use of. What you demonstrate is with a mix of the right equipment and a great ear, a tone can be closely replicated. You shouldn't feel a need to qualify your research and choices of signal chain effects and settings. Gary Moore would have dialed in a similar sound if all his favorite equipment were not available and he was forced to find a chain of alternatives. We live in a world where there is more than one way to a very similar and great tone.
    As always, great stuff !

    Thank you man! I have just made a POD Go patch based on this and it sounds legit! Very well done. Personally I'd lower gain a bit. The studio version uses much less gain than it seems. Live performance is where I think Gary went nuts :)

    Wow! Another great preset, Jason! 😀
    So sorry you feel you have to spend your energy adding a bunch of disclaimers to your videos. 😢 Thank you for all you are doing for us!!!

      I honestly would just put the disclaimer in the description or a text box, and not waste time referencing negative comments. It seems that most “haters” will post either way unfortunately. Thank you again for the time and effort that you put into your UA-cam videos! This one is great.

    • @JasonSadites
      @JasonSadites  6 років тому

      Yeah I honestly think I am just about done giving disclaimers, as you say the 'haters' will make negative comments either way. My pleasure and so glad you enjoyed the video :-)

    Hi Jason
    I really like your videos - great job!
    I have made an observation: the input impedance has a very high influence on the sound in the upper frequencies (this is not really surprising because of the impedance intrinsic filter effect). If I set the input to 1 Mohm, the sound is much better. Ok this can depend on the guitar and of course taste, but on the Auto settings for me the distorted sound has bubbles (I have no better description, but perhaps you can hear it, too) and give it a try. The clean sound has just more brilliance with the fixed input impedance. This is the case on nearly every amp model
    Regards Micky

      Thank you so much Michael :-) I will try the impedance thing out when I have chance, thanks for the suggestion.

    Great as always. Inspired me to go listen to this track again and I have to say that lead tone is so dang close. Well done. This also inspired me to read up on the guv'nor and got me wondering about using a marshall preamp model in place of the OD for the separate bass, mid and high controls. Have you ever tried this or do you find it too DSP intensive to use without totally revamping your template?

    • @JasonSadites
      @JasonSadites  6 років тому +1

      Thank you so much Tom :-) Glad you like the tone! That is probably a good idea to try out the preamp only version in place of an OD. I think it should probably workout alright DSP wise. Will be a cool thing to try!

    Hi Jason! Thanks for all your hard work on the dialing in series. Quick question though. I am more of a beginner guitar player and only have access to a cheaper multi-effects processor called the Zoom G1XON. Do you think it's reasonable for me to try and follow along with the the steps shown in these videos to try and and dial in a similar tone? Or are the units just to different? Maybe in a future video you could show how to dial in one of your previous helix patches on another multi-effects processor.
    Thanks again for the great videos!

    • @JasonSadites
      @JasonSadites  6 років тому

      My pleasure :-) I do not see why following along and trying to emulate the same thing in other modelers wouldn't work. Give it a try and let me know how it works out for you :-)

    C'mon, Jay... we KNOW you're trying to pass this off as THE EXACT tone!... :))) Although, to get a real authentic tone, you'll need to sweat A LOT, just like Gary did... Otherwise, it's just noise.
    Isn't it odd that people won't take you at your word? Proof again that perception is reality. Don't let the facts get in the way...
    This is great stuff! Please keep it coming, in spite of those who would accuse you of heresy!

      Unfortunately, it has too many blocks to be recreated on the Stomp. It could probably be consolidated somehow to get close :-)
