    Good Afternoon,
I stopped your video at the 5 minute mark just to comment on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
"To me" what has gone on with the RHOF has gone on for so long that it's reputation cannot be repaired,.... THE WELL HAS BEEN TAINTED.
Bands/people hold the brand Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in such reverence, "I feel" chiefly because of it's longevity.
They could rebrand the RHOF to the Music Hall of Fame but then you would lose your long standing brand.
I admire bands whom would tell/have told the RHOF to "hit bricks."
    Thank you.

The Hall sucks. The Grammys suck. There comes a point where they get so many wrong, so many times, year after year, it just becomes a joke. Mary J. Blige is in the Hall, Iron Madien isn’t. Now Google “artists who have never won a Grammy” and compare most of their careers with Bobby McFerrin who has 10, including a Lifetime Achievement Award. Trying to come up with a fix or solutions is a good and fun endeavor. But ultimately pointless. They will never change. They will never get it right. I hate them both.

Great video. I believe that people who aren’t rock musicians have no business being in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, unless they have some connection to rock music. It’s not right that they think anybody of any genre of music should be in there. I’ve heard all these arguments and they make some sense, but I would say that those people in the R&R Hall have no idea what they’re doing. They just don’t care about anyone but themselves and the money they make. Too much bias involved and emphasis on personal preference has clouded their judgment over the years. They need to look at things objectively and if they want to include anyone outside of rock, they must have an explanation as to why it should happen. With a weak argument and/or no explanation, those people cannot induct such artists. It’s a shame that the Rock Hall has gotten to this point. It has been this way from the beginning. Those 5 people make it so obvious that they have never actually played rock and roll music in their lives and know about it based on what they’ve read and written in the last several decades. There is no reason to allow any of this to continue. It’s time for those people to retire and be replaced by people who are better than that and are transparent when it comes to doing their job and doing it well. Nothing good has come from this practice. I’m sorry to say this, but it’s a disgrace to the general public and we all deserve better. I just wonder what will happen in the future when it comes to dealing with this place in general. This was an interesting topic to discuss. Thanks for telling us about it.

The answer to your question about why this happens is simple. Like most things in life, it's all about money. Bringing in other artists besides rock 'n' roll artists are going to generate a larger audience, thus larger profits. So, yes, all the things you say should be instituted... only inducting rock 'n' roll artists, having musician vote and creating a legacy category in induct pioneers. But forget it, it will never happen as long as money is THE issue. Personally, I think another major problem is locating the Hall of Fame in Cleveland. I have nothing against Cleveland, but it doesn't have enough going on to have a more niche only "rock 'n' roll" museum. Having it located in New York, London or Los Angeles would have allowed a more niche museum, not so dependent on "money."

As a fan of many pop artists, I have no problem with them getting inducted into the RHOF. Once they inducted Madonna, they opened that can of worms. Once Madonna was inducted, then all deserving pop artists should also be inducted. The main things I dislike about the RHOF are, elder rock artists getting passed over, year after year. And artists getting in for only a few hits, while artists with a lengthy and successful career getting passed over. I'm okay with this year's inductees, except for A Tribe Called Quest. And it was unfair to induct Mary J. Blige over Mariah Carey. Mariah had a much more successful career than any of the other nominees. And no doubt influenced Mary J. Blige. On the surface, I think Peter Frampton doesn't belong in, just for "Frampton Comes Alive". But, he did do other things, and he's ailing. So, it's nice he's getting in, while he can be there to accept.

Frampton is in because of his mega selling album. But at least thats an entire album. Percy Sledge is in the RRHF solely because of one song.. Can you name one other song other than When a Man Loves a Woman? By this standard, Steppenwolf should also be in for the song Born to be Wild.

thanks for caring so much about these issues, but I´m afraid nothing will change for the better - these events are like Olympics, as that has nothing to do with sports but only with big business - the RHOF has nothing to do with the music we love, but is also just a cashcow...

I do think that maybe the time has come to drop the Rock n Roll from the Hall of Fame's name., and allow the pioneers and founding bands and artists of all genres to be nominated. It needs to have a more democratic way of nominating and voting, and Superfan has come up with a brilliant solution. For me two examples of artists/bands who have been overlooked are The Bangles and PJ Harvey, who are not only artists who are Rock artists but so much more besides and both are positive role models for fellow female artists. Sadly on the otherside of this particular coin, all other awards like the Oscars, the Emmy's, the Tony's, the Grammy's and The Brits here in the UK are all cut from the same cloth and it's the elite who decide who get's inducted or who wins an award. All of it needs to change to reflect what has gone before that has made the industry what it is today, and those up and coming artists coming through now, because of whats gone before. It should be honouring it's past and embracing it's future is what I'm trying to say.

Actually, all living inductees do get a ballot to vote. There is a Nominating Committee comprised of musicians, critics and industry people. Jann Wenner has not been involved in quite some time. The Committee releases the list of the nominees and the voters vote. There are between 500-1000 voters (estimates vary). But living inductees are amongst those who receive a ballot.

I'm sure the shareholders are thinking that there is no use in nominating old artist x because people aren't going to go out of their way to pay admission so see an exhibit built around this person. This is a business first and foremost.

Until they induct The Cramps, the “Rock & Roll” part of the Hall of Fame is a lie.

While you were speaking I noticed the picture of four gentlemen above you who are all inductees and deserve to be on the merits of their solo careers, but have the The Beatles as a group ever been nominated or inducted. I think not which seems odd to me

The Beatles were inducted in 1988, their first year of eligibility.

If they're not rock, they shouldn't be nominated or even considered or discussed. Rock N Roll HOF is a joke, and the ones running it are a bigger joke. You have good ideas TJR, but it will never be fixed.

What I'm referring to is Rap, Country, Hip Hop, and I'm sure I'm missing other genres that have been voted in. I would vote for some of the Doo Wop singers and groups before those genres. How can they put Dolly Parton in the Rock N Roll HOF, and not The Guess Who, Three Dog Night, Jethro Tull, and many other bands and singers? I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think it will get any better.

you seem like a nice guy, which is why I watch your videos, but the rock hall of fame? come on, nobody gives a shit, it's a popularity contest, completely meaningless in terms of actual value of any music or musicians

I am not in any way trying to justify the RHOF and their egregious history (and I hope my video didn't come off that way) - But every year, everyone gets angry about it, so I was just exploring a possible productive way to fix it.....it feels like no one feels it's worth the effort to fix though.
