I love these kind of episodes...Great summer Luke.
As regards football, i completely agree with you, the behavior of the English fans was truly awful. And please you can't sing all the time "it's coming home" before having win the torunament, i think it is one of the main reasons that the non -english fans wanted England to lose the final. Big team, small fans (a part of them of course but a big part of them..).

Yes, I could have talked about "It's Coming Home". It seems to annoy all the non-English fans so much. I totally understand why, although there seems to be a misunderstanding there too. We say it's coming home because we believe football was invented in England. It's not completely true of course because people were kicking balls around in lots of countries, probably at the same time as in England, but because of things like our university network and the industrial revolution (the invention of the railway allowed teams from different cities) the rules were probably formalised in England. So we feel that England is the home of football.
The song is actually quite nuanced and describes the frustration and hope of English fans during international tournaments. But the way the song was constantly being sung was quite annoying.
Also another commenter here on UA-cam mentioned that England were unpopular this year because of their boring style of play, which I agree with. Even if we got to the final, I feel like we were not very interesting to watch.
Everyone would have been much happier if Denmark had got to the final, I think!

I'm not sure, that the point is that England has some fans who abuse people, or going to Brexit is a reason for unpopular. Some journalists pointed out the boring game in the matches, irrational using the national squad. I mean, the scheme was way too defending when some top creative footballists were on the bench. I don't know about other countries, but most Russian football fans and journalists didn't root for England because of its playing style.
