  • Wood turning ASMR style a beautiful piece of cherry and putting a copper leaf inside. Its not easy to guild the inside of a hollowform but the sense of light and space that it gives makes it worth it. When the light comes through the window and catches the piece, it just glows with warmth and joy.
    I am a woodturner working on the West coast of Ireland. I use wood that I salvage or find or that get blown down in storms, of which we have a lot of. I try to find ways to show the best of each piece of wood that I get. I hope that you enjoy watching how that happens. See this piece and others on my website richardwestwoo...

    Thank you for this great video. I'm not a wood turner but I find the art fascinating. My first choice of how to relax after a busy day in town is to watch you create an extraordinary piece. I love the gilt that you apply to the inside. It makes the piece glow! And I'm glad you saved the little branch. Take care, from Oregon, USA.

    I’m speechless. This was so cool to watch. It was interesting how I could see your tools on the inside while you thinned it. The polished piece is beautiful and when you added the copper, it gave even more energy to the piece. Thank you for sharing your beautiful gift

    Another lovely piece, Richard. The foil inside is always a beautiful touch. I'm pleased to see the silver fork/rake again, I thought it might have been lost in the wood shavings. Keep turning, your work is so unique.

    I’m not a woodturner, but I am trying to learn. Did you design the piece that size? Could you have turned the wood on a different axis to get a larger finished product? Was there something in the grain that inspired you to turn the wood in this axis?

    • @RichardWestWoodturner
      @RichardWestWoodturner  Рік тому +1

      I chose to turn the wood this way as it emphasized the aspects of the wood I liked also gave me a good place to hold the wood while hollowing and that the structural integrity of the piece is good, but mainly because it looks good. Lots to think about in just putting the wood on the lathe.

    Why in the world do they not wear gloves? I hope they have on a mask and eye protection!

    • @RichardWestWoodturner
      @RichardWestWoodturner  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching, I don't wear gloves as it can be too dangerous if they catch on the wood you could lose a hand or worse, I do wear eye and dust protection.
