It does. The color and music is worse, though. The Genesis version was a launch title (Well, one month later) and ported by Sega, not Capcom, so they probably wanted to keep the size as small as possible, as even 4mbit storage was still expensive at that time.
the Genesis version was actually 5 megs.. was the largest cart ever released up to that point in videogames until Phantasy Star II topped it a few months laters at 6 megs.
@@Spolupyo The FM synth on the Genesis was nearly identical to the one Capcom used in their arcade boards at the time, and the color matches the arcade version much closer. You may prefer the music/color in this version, but what I'm saying is that the Genesis version is much more accurate in those areas
Okay....holy shit, I can't believe what I'm seeing here. So a bit of backstory first. I got the PCE Core Grafx Mini four day's ago and it's amazing. I'm playing Ghouls N' Ghosts right now *Supergrafx and I was having a very tough time. I can beat the Genesis game with no problems but this was...I was about to stop playing. I was getting mages coming out of chests 5 times in a row. The Red Armors were taking 7-9 hits to die and I just didn't understand why was this so beyond hard. Then I died twice from stupid mistakes and was about to stop....I said one more time. The game has gotten easier. This gane has an adaptive difficulty in like 1990! I have never heard of this before but that is a-m-a-z-i-n-g! I was able to kill the armors in like 4-5 hits, the bone dragons in like 4 hits, and the four pigs without breaking a sweat. There are less everything popping and as I made several save states, I checked to make sure this isn't just RNG luck...it's really not! WOW!
Some of the backgrounds look better than Genesis but there are blocky parts that look amateurish too its tough to say Id say Genesis overall is more polished even with lots of shit missing.
Hey, folks. Retro streams every day. Quest for completing every good game on every console existing. Now i'm playing PC Engine. Comments are in Russian, but I also understand English, French and Italian.
would of like to seen the Megadrive version been 8 megabit and one gen later of game cart production.. the SuperGrafx version while more colorful and having additional tiles due to larger ROM size still fairs poorly.. not to mention the terrible sound chip in the Supergrafx.
FAR superior? No way. The Genesis had much better color and music. The TG version had more slowdown but did have some more animations and that's about it.
@@dynamicvoltage9765 The Genesis version suffered from some lousy sound effects though, like hitting your weapon on a tombstone. In every other version the sound is softer on the ears, but on the Genesis version, it is a shrilly clanging sound that is far too shrilly for it's own good. The SuperGFX version also tended to have more background detail nspots (lacked in other parts though), while the Genesis version's attention to detail in background detail was a bit lacking. Blame that on small cart size, and being an early console release though.
I remember beating this on the Sega Genesis with zero cheat codes. I knew once i beat this game i could beat any game.
Wish there was a homebrew community behind the supergrafx. It has so much potential
This version seems to have more animations and original sprites than the Genesis from the arcade

Graphics look fantastic!
I have bought this on eBay 1 year ago for only $ 80. Was a lucky buy.
This was ludicrous gameplay. Good stuff!

This is the reason why I bought the Hu-Card for my SuperGrafx but will play the game on emulator with endless saves.

great arcade port to this console. just wish supergrafx would have been given a little longer to grab more monster arcade hits of the time
Damn its a shame the pcengine/Turbografix 16 never really took off here in the UK
It was the perfect console!!!

Im getting the turbo grafx mini just for this game.
The game actually got a digital release for the wii vc jp.
The extra MB did the difference.
My god man, legit play through!! that was epic!
this was a real treat, thankyou
Nice playthrough. :)
In my opinion, this version is the best home port... Even better than MegaDrive version...

Looks better than Megadrive version IMHO.
When I play this version, it looks much more difficult that the Arcade or MD versions... Is it right or is my impression?
Too bad the normal PC Engine never got a port!!
II II You can get Ghouls 'n' Goblins on the TurboGrafx-16 Mini along with Adyless.
Looks slightly better than Genesis
Does this work on the GT handheld?
No, only on Supergrafx
Far superior than the Sega Genesis version
Came later with more memory.

Not sure whose bright idea it was to allow only three continues on this version, however.
You can add more credits by using cheat code. If you can't, you can use save state on the Turbografx-16 mini.
