You’re right, I heard that last part, “I’ll see her in the next world,” too…it’s shocking to hear that, but not shocking at the same time. Shocking because I can’t even begin to imagine what she felt as she was gasping for air and knowing her life was coming to a sudden end. She had just turned 32 on September 1st, and I just found out that she did evacuate initially and even made it down to the 44th floor. But took an elevator to go back up to the 78th floor after it was announced that the building was safe and people should return to wherever they were previously. OMG, that’s just horrifying beyond belief and tragic!!!! Now her “I’ll see her in the next world” will forever be stuck in my head.
That dispatcher is an amazing person. I’m sitting here crying & she held it together for that poor lady. It’s heartbreaking to hear Melissa’s voice. May you RIP. ❤❤

RIP to the innocent wonderful people who were murdered that day.
craig burkhart not all. Some people had asthma attacks, panic attacks, trauma, disabled, just too slow, injured. It slowed down evacuation. There were many people almost out the building but just didnt make it

Well happy 32nd late Birthday to you friend... Your age triggered hurricane Katrina for me... I was 32 when Katrina hit, an like a jackass I decided to ride it out.. But I remember when sitting on the tip top of my roof when the water was 14 feet, I said to myself, damn George Bush the president has 2 major disasters in 4 years.. 9/11 an Katrina

@@JJ-iq8mi I just can't imagine what it's like being this life-threatening situation that day. If I was in the Twin Towers on 9/11, I would've been tearful like she was.
You think? Hmmm- In a building that is on fire, on a floor that is incredibly hot, in a room full of smoke, and you say she sounded as though she was terrified for her life. Wow!
I think it’s incredible that we gravitate to these videos and religious or not we think about those who perished in the Towers. I’m an Atheist but I hope those people somehow metaphysically feel our concern and empathy to how they perished. I hope they somehow feel us listening to their stories of their ends.
Thought I’d heard her wrong, though I know I didn’t, because its just so unfathomable to hear and know how excruciating and agonizing her situation was…trapped high up in an inferno and dying…
I was 9 years old on 9/11. And I'm now 32, the same age that Melissa was when she died. When I was a kid, 32 seemed pretty old, but now that I'm that age, I still feel so young and I can't imagine having to face death the way she did. I'd be beyond terrified and so not ready to go. 😢 It upsets me so much to think of what she went though and I truly hope she is at peace somewhere.
Pink Mcb That is their job, to try and get people as calm as possible while they wait to get help while also collecting information (they are mandated to)!
As opposed tooo? “Okay what I want you to do it panic! And breathe extremely rapidly, hyperventilate if need be!! Just keep screaming” “and good luck bye” would that have been better? Lol
Have to remember this was the first tower that collapsed. A lot of them thought they might be rescued. They didnt expect the building to collapse. Now for those trapped in the second tower that collapsed, they had it BAD because surely they knew the other tower came down and then im very sure it hit them that there was little hope for them. Many people in the first tower had hope until the end.
I hope her mother got to hear her daughter say this . I truly do . As scary as that is to hear your daughter going through that , just to hear your daughters last words to you would give you so much more closure so I pray she heard this message she had for her mom
Every time I think about this phone call, I start crying. For me, Melissa is the face of the victims. Every victim suffered so much and this phone call makes the event so real to me, given I was weeks old when 9/11 took place
@@jp1430 The first clip of Melissa’s phone call (the first 4 minutes) and Kevin Cosgroves’ phone call are heartbreaking but this clip is astonishingly heartbreaking. I will never be able to imagine and comprehend what the victims went through that day
It makes me angry that she had made it out and returned to her office when told it was safe, only to be killed by that second plane. RIP Melissa. We’re all thinking about you.
Yeah, everyone always says how it was reasonable at the time to assume that the first plane hitting the north tower was an accident, and that nobody could have possibly foreseen it being a terrorist attack and that something might happen to the south tower too. But like, hello? Was the World Trade Center not already attacked in 1993? It really seems like they should have at least considered the possibility and let everyone in the south tower evacuate immediately.
I will forever believe in my heart that when she heard voices it was Stanley Praimnath and Brian Clark after Brian saved Stanley. In another interview with Brian Clark he said he thought he heard someone yell for help when heading down in that same area.
They must have been just a few floors down from the impact zone which is horrendous because they were so near yet so far. No way they could have gotten to her even if she got their attention. Poor lady I feel panicky just thinking about being in her situation. It's not something anyone will ever be able to comprehend. Just awful.
Her composure and clarity while speaking to the operator during such dire circumstances both astonishes and inspires me. All while certian it meant the end of her life. 2:24 - wow. Definition of bravery and heroism. RIP
? She was not composed and not calm, and there’s nothing wrong with that; most people would be reacting the way she did if they were certain they would die.
I feel like the operator was doing her best under the circumstances but what Melissa, an intelligent, smart woman, needed was some humanity. Not the standard by the book responses. She knew, felt this was her last moments on earth. Her fears were being dismissed and she knew better. Bless her, so courageous.
Any person who makes bad comments about this beautiful girl’s last words is soulless , she kept her dignity God bless her , my heart breaks for her , to have the strength of will to speak of her mother in such a tender way at that moment., ask your self , how would you or I fair on the same field? She is a beautiful brave soul and descent people will remember her ! Peace to you beautiful Girl❤️
God bless the emergency dispatchers who were the last people to give these poor souls comfort and hope in their final moments. I can’t even imagine. Lord have mercy. They are angels.
From what I gather she and many others worked on that floor with their company. Hard to believe they stuck around after the first plane, if they'd made any attempt to go down they would have missed the impact. Shame that the Port Authority would tell people to return to their work, and assure them everything was secure. After what happened in 1993, that was awful planning (or lack of), and cost a lot of people their lives.
It’s now September 11, 2020...we’ve gone through a lot..but this is the one thing we will always remember as one. Rest In Peace for the people that have died, firefighters, police,ER personnel, everyone in that point of time.
Wow Eri, Aisawa must have taught you a lot about American culture! Thanks for taking the time to be so respectful.. that day was really rough.. and yeah 2020 has sucked But rip to all the victims of 9/11 attacks 🌹
whenever i watch videos from 9/11, I think about the people in the tower looking out the window at how close safety is...but how they can't get to it. Beyond heartbreaking.
"Tell her that she was the best mother a person could ever have and that I love her with all my heart and soul and that I will see her in the next world."
This was a credit to the 911 operator as well, for staying on the phone with her. I would hope to have someone so sweet on the line with me, plus making sure that her mother got the message that she was who was on her mind at the end. Hey, if her family gets this message, please know that I truly do pray 🙏 for you.
Yes I think the 911 operator did a very good job. She was calm and professional altought there was no much she could do for her unfortunately in that moment.. this phone call is heartbreaking
I used to get so upset when I listened to these tapes and hear the dispatchers say, “stay calm”. Now, I think they say it really to help calm their own nerves because it’s so devastating hearing people go through tragedies like this. 🙏🏽
Well, not to mention normally they’re trying to get relevant information from the caller so that they know how to address the situation. Or they’re trying to keep the caller on the line until help arrives. That’s why they ask these questions repeatedly that may sound dumb to us.
@@PianoDisneygal10 Exactly. They need to constantly know what's going on at the scene to accurately give possible life saving information to first responders. I work in an ER and I explain to patients that the reason we all keep asking them about symptoms, daily activities ext is to get the most clear picture we can to give the best treatment we can. It may come off as annoying, or like we haven't fully paid attention to the story, but we're really just assessing the situation as thoroughly as possible. Kudos to all the operators out there.
Well outside of any other detail- there is fire & alot of smoke they need to keep the person calm so they dont hyperventilate & use up any/all oxygen left in the room/space or pass out/die from smoke inhalation before possible rescue
She made it down to the 44th floor and then went up the elevator because they made an announcement that it was safe 😡- just wished she kept going down those stairs. Rip sweet angel. I can’t stop crying after hearing this.
@@celestephelps7261 That's not true, she died during this phone call. During the call she fell asleep/unconscious because of all the smoke inhalation and all they could hear was her snoring until the call cut off about 15 min before the tower collapsed. At least she didn't have to witness that.
My teacher was teaching us about 9/11 today and she said that she was this girls advisor at northwestern University. A year after 9/11 she heard her voice on the tv and it was very traumatic for her to hear it.
This is absolutely heartbreaking.. Gut wrenching.. I can't imagine what she and the poor people trapped in both the towers went through.. God bless to them and there families.. May Jesus christ look after them in heaven xxx
but it has things I've never heard before .. this appears to be the unedited version that wasn't released to the public. The one that was released to the public had the message to her mother edited out as well as most of her suffering/coughing. I'm really curious how they got this unedited version.
This reminds me of another testimony at the nearby hotel at the WTC. A firefighter came in, after the first tower collapsed and said, everyone is dead, no one is going to help you. So they helped themselves. Another tragedy of 9/11 was waiting for help instead of doing whatever was possible to get out.
If im a 911 dispatcher i'm might be fired on that day, if im taking that call i might get panicked and crying on that situation. Kudos to this dispatcher she did not leave her in the very end, rest in peace...
Think of her mom, What she may have felt when she listened to this audio. My left side of chest feels like it is under a very heavy weight whenever i hear this.
Good God! I am heartbroken! Hearing the victim’s despair and the emergency responder’s conversation is gut wrenching! I am impressed with the calm voice. It couldn’t have been easy to maintain composure at that time. I pray for all the dear souls who perished, innocent victims of evil. With this brutal assault we are forced to realize our vulnerability and become increasingly vigilant. This must never happen again! Appreciate the survivors who bravely and in spite of their own injuries and fear assisted other occupants to safety. The first responders, God bless them! With a calamity as this, how could they have prepared better? But they were magnificent and rescued and recovered as efficiently and courageously as possible. May God bless them.🇺🇸
To be fair to the dispatcher I don't think anything she could say would be possible to calm her down. Melissa was dying and she knew it and I have to commend her for how composed she actually was considering her situation. I would not be able to string a sentence together or else would just be screaming.
@ko7577Exactly that. Even if the towers hadn’t collapsed, there was no guarantee that Melissa and others would have survived a rescue attempt, given how they were dying from smoke inhalation. However, in those moments, hope in the form of a firefighter or a dispatcher’s words would have provided great comfort.
I sure miss u Melissa wish u were still here with us and I know u r in heaven no pain no suffering habing a blast up there and I know your smile shines bright upon watching over us I think about u everyday and I know u will guide those that love u and miss u hope one day I can meet u in heaven wen my time comes your an amazing angel now and your with God save me a spot up there ❤️
3:18 “Tell her, that she (?) is the best mother, a person could have, and that I love her, with all my heart and soul, and I will see her - in the next world. OK? Hello?” “Yes Ma’am” 😔😔
Melissa did get to speak to her mother from the 44th floor when she was evacuating. If she had kept going she would still be alive. Sadly she made a tragic decision to go back up because the south tower intercom told employees it was safe to do so. Bear in mind this all happened prior to the plane hitting. They were evacuating due to the north tower plane strike. Melissa made it back up to 78th floor where took the elevator to the 83rd floor. It is at this moment the plane hits the south tower
@ko7577lol what, they’re there to call them down in a stressful situation so they don’t make it worse and get them safe in a quicker and more efficient way. You sound silly.
This is so hard..in the original there are some parts that are cut out toward the end, and it sounds like Melissa was witnessing people with her jumping, and was thinking about having to jump herself. The dispatcher tells her not to do it and says Oh my God. It being this graphic is probably the reason for the lengthy court battle which resulted in the release of the tape, with these parts edited. She was right above the impact. RIP
Grace Burns It was the original edited version. The original unedited version was never released. I heard the full edited version about a year ago. For some reason they’ve taken that down and shortened it even more. I can’t find that longer version anywhere anymore.

@@lassesuurmunne8340 could you please tell me what you mean by you can “hear her die?” Do you mean that she decided to jump? Because another comment is just read said she was witnessing others jump and was going to jump, but the 911 dispatcher told her not to, but she died. So I don’t know if that means the dispatcher heard her jump somehow? Have never even heard of her and this tape till I clicked on the video just now, so I really would like to know, before she decides whether I want to listen to the full version. Also would like to know why they bleeped out Melissa’s side so much in the full version? It’s just talking, albeit extremely horrific circumstances, and I’m just confused why so much needed to be covered up if it’s a full version?
Just a fyi, the end part of the recording was NEVER released to the public. The reason any of the 24+ minute call she made to a 911 dispatcher was released at all was because it was used as evidence in the Zacarias Moussaoui trial after 9-11 happened. Moussaoui was supposed to be 1 of the hijackers but was arrested a month before in Minnesota for immigration violations. So after 9-11 the Federal govt charged Moussaoui. At the trial the govt used around 4 minutes of the very long Melissa Doi call to the 911 operator as evidence, thus allowing the public to hear her voice and interaction with the operator in the first 4 minutes. The rest has to my knowledge never been released and probably never will. That's why if you try and listen on youtube and other sites to the full 24+ minutes of it, you will mostly hear Melissa's voice get beeped out. I am not sure how this part where she asks the operator to call her mother, spells her name and tells the operator what to say to her mother got released on here. I'm glad like many others that we got to hear it although it's very very sad. But I just wanted everyone to know that it wasn't authorized to be released.
@KenMac210 I don't but I read about her and why the first 4 minutes of the call she made was released to the public. Again this part should never have been made public. But it is what it is.
This breaks my heart because I would say those things on the call, too. I love my mama so much. I feel so awful for her. I hope there's such a thing as Heaven and her and her mum can meet again.
Remember that if your mom finds a time in her life where she needs family. I'm staying with my mom instead of her going into a nursing home, even though she told her friends that she took me in, in exchange for doing chores. Yeah, don’t think she was in denial at all, just in complete and utter disbelief because it was so sudden, which any human being would’ve felt if you suddenly realize that your life is ending in minutes, in the most horrific way possible. She actually initially evacuated and made her way down to the 44th floor when it was announced that the building was safe and people should return to their offices, so she got into an elevator and went back up to the 78th floor and then the second plane hit just below her. @@RoyalPurpleStar no she definitely didn't jump. She suffocated from the smoke and passed out, that's why we later hear snoring sounds which can happen in tragedies like this. The full recording actually shows a lot more and was kept with the family and during a court case on 9/11 for other potential hijackers who are said would have been involved but other planes were forced to land and not air after hearing about Flight 11 and Flight 175 crashing into the World Trade Center. Got to remember as well the amount of smoke they were breathing in, the heat and possibly breathing in that burning fuel. She was a floor above the impact zone and probably in that darkness from smoke she didn't risk searching for the stairway, understandably out of possibly thinking the floor could collapse in on them, etc. Remember, a lot of victims were blinded by the smoke and in the chaos some didn't actually "jump" out of the windows but actually fell. Tragic, They had to break windows to get air in and sometimes accidents happen. In other cases it was about a needed action, some were so desperate they couldn't see help coming and feared being burned to death so jumped willingly to be put out of their misery. Never again! RIP.

she is having a panic attack, which is natural, she is in a fight or flight situation where she wants to run but cannot, she has this energy in a panicked situation which is a burst of adrenaline but has nowhere to put it as the stairwell is blocked from her... and so is facing the fear of death without an outlet...she can't get down, her option is to die there and die or jump. the despatcher did a great job trying to get her to focus on other things than where she is now. that was very very important...to keep the mind off of panic and breathing. melissa felt hot and that she couldn't breath, but lasted quite long on the call and had enough air to talk, scream and stay conscious... which makes me wonder if the towers didnt collapse maybe she would have survived...but i have listened to the full call and some reports melissa died on the phone as it went quiet or unconcious snoring the woman despatcher heard
😭 god I hope she didn’t feel a thing but knowing she felt at least a second of fear as the building came down hurts my soul ugh after all these years I’m still angry this happened to these poor innocent people it’s just not fair they didn’t do anything but go to work that day smh

How the hell did this get released? I thought this was going to stay private for ever? It's rather horrible to listen to. She was burning to death the poor woman!
Because it was used in the trial family wanted to release it to the public. It's not your property or your business. If its horrible to listen to, then don't. The saddest thing about this, is she was supposed to leave for vacation on Friday, 3 days after the attack. She was originally supposed to go the Friday BEFORE 9/11 but due to work constraints, she switched it to the 14th. She was going to Italy.
On the original recording of Melissa, which I heard many years ago, the way she began slipping in and out of consciousness, from being overcome by the smoke was audible. I think it’s incredible that we gravitate to these videos and religious or not we think about those who perished in the Towers. I’m an Atheist but I hope those people somehow metaphysically feel our concern and empathy to how they perished.
I hope they somehow feel us listening to their stories of their ends.

U hear terror in her voice poor angel
What are they supposed to say
As scary as that is to hear your daughter going through that , just to hear your daughters last words to you would give you so much more closure so I pray she heard this message she had for her mom

this happened in the Korean ship that sank too, they were told to stay put and everyone that did died.

That makes me really mad
Yeah, everyone always says how it was reasonable at the time to assume that the first plane hitting the north tower was an accident, and that nobody could have possibly foreseen it being a terrorist attack and that something might happen to the south tower too. But like, hello? Was the World Trade Center not already attacked in 1993? It really seems like they should have at least considered the possibility and let everyone in the south tower evacuate immediately.

They must have been just a few floors down from the impact zone which is horrendous because they were so near yet so far. No way they could have gotten to her even if she got their attention. Poor lady I feel panicky just thinking about being in her situation. It's not something anyone will ever be able to comprehend. Just awful.
Hearing her labored breathing is just… heartbreaking.
Her composure and clarity while speaking to the operator during such dire circumstances both astonishes and inspires me. All while certian it meant the end of her life. 2:24 - wow. Definition of bravery and heroism. RIP
"Composure" I know its tragic, but Ms. Doi was crying at the 2:22 mark
@@hughjass8383 I don't believe that was her crying, incredibly heroic nontheless.
I am curious what the 2.22 was about? I heard the operator say Wow however I didn’t hear what the lady on the phone said did you?

God bless the emergency dispatchers who were the last people to give these poor souls comfort and hope in their final moments. I can’t even imagine. Lord have mercy.
They are angels.
From what I gather she and many others worked on that floor with their company. Hard to believe they stuck around after the first plane, if they'd made any attempt to go down they would have missed the impact. Shame that the Port Authority would tell people to return to their work, and assure them everything was secure. After what happened in 1993, that was awful planning (or lack of), and cost a lot of people their lives.

Yes. I couldn't imagine being the 911 dispatcher! FRIGHTENING!!!

Her: "I'm gonna die arn't I"?

Wow that sure didn't help calm her down.

RIP

@@chenellebeautytv do you mean she didn’t jump but simply went unconscious from the extremely heavy smoke and died? Because from reading the other comments, sounded like she jumped.
Tragic,
They had to break windows to get air in and sometimes accidents happen.
In other cases it was about a needed action, some were so desperate they couldn't see help coming and feared being burned to death so jumped willingly to be put out of their misery.

I just found this video today, Mother’s day, and was listening to this poor woman telling the operator how much she loved her mom and that she was best mother anyone could have. 😭😭😭😭
Dude, out of all the 9/11 stories this one really, really, really fuckin hurts.
Your mom knew. Beautiful that she thought of her mom at the end.
Even when she raised her voice she was still calm. Poor soul.
I've heard a better version of this. This one sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom.
She was so beautiful, this is horrible, how could someone purposefully hurt so many people!? May you rest in peace Mrs. Doi ♥♥♥♥
At 2.25 you hear crying. Listen quietly with headphones. So sad 😢 she says she loves her mum with all her heart and soul and she will see her in the next world.
This act of violence against enocent people left me deeply saddened , to all the families of those victims of that day my most sincere condolences .
Never forget, never forgive.
Rest in peace Melissa and everybody else who passed away on that horrible day🙏🇺🇸
GOD HOLD YOU MELISSA and now you are safe!
I have felt this terror of death ..
I had several severe panic attacks when I was young ...
of course their is no comparison but I do understand what it feels to think you are going to die...
don't wish this on anyone even my worst enemies ..
now I have been healed ....Thank God!
she is having a panic attack, which is natural, she is in a fight or flight situation where she wants to run but cannot, she has this energy in a panicked situation which is a burst of adrenaline but has nowhere to put it as the stairwell is blocked from her... and so is facing the fear of death without an outlet...she can't get down, her option is to die there and die or jump. the despatcher did a great job trying to get her to focus on other things than where she is now. that was very very important...to keep the mind off of panic and breathing. melissa felt hot and that she couldn't breath, but lasted quite long on the call and had enough air to talk, scream and stay conscious... which makes me wonder if the towers didnt collapse maybe she would have survived...but i have listened to the full call and some reports melissa died on the phone as it went quiet or unconcious snoring the woman despatcher heard
😭 god I hope she didn’t feel a thing but knowing she felt at least a second of fear as the building came down hurts my soul ugh after all these years I’m still angry this happened to these poor innocent people it’s just not fair they didn’t do anything but go to work that day smh
My heart screams not only for the victims and the families but also for the first responders and dispatchers who had to try to calm people as they knew they'd be dead soon.
It’s now September 11, 2019.....
Never forget 😔
Well thank you captain obvious
Call me Kevan that’s not funny.
I feel the same
Kkkkkkkkkkkk fodase
When she said im burning up that broke me it was pure hell on the 83rd floor nobody survived being that high up that day
18 people above the impact zone survived
How the hell did this get released? I thought this was going to stay private for ever? It's rather horrible to listen to. She was burning to death the poor woman!
Because it was used in the trial family wanted to release it to the public. It's not your property or your business. If its horrible to listen to, then don't. No one said they would be private forever, you made it up. Her family wanted the world to know what she went through. I didn't lose anyone, I'm from Chicago. Last year I finally went to the memorial. The first name I looked for was hers...and it just became so real to me. I will never forget her name.
@@jammzy2959 he didn't claim that it was going to be private forever you dummy, he said that is what he thought. it's not your property or your business either. You are obsessed with this woman and it is unhealthy, you need mental help
Giovanni B it isn’t obsession. It’s about paying respects, especially to those who had lost their lives like this. She was terrified. Everyone was.
Giovanni B you’re honestly a dumbass
Freedom of Information. If you dont want to listen, dont
I feel so sorry for the 911 folks, too. They weren't trained for something like this. They did the best they could. It's just awful all the way around.
The saddest thing about this, is she was supposed to leave for vacation on Friday, 3 days after the attack. She was originally supposed to go the Friday BEFORE 9/11 but due to work constraints, she switched it to the 14th. She was going to Italy.
How do you know??
@@damianandlogan5511 the mother said so in an interview
@@smiley1960 ahh I must've missed that
thats so sad omg
On the original recording of Melissa, which I heard many years ago, the way she began slipping in and out of consciousness, from being overcome by the smoke was audible. You could hear every sound, her struggling to breathe etc The parts here where you hear her breathing forcefully into the phone receiver. That’s the beginning of what I’m talking about.
I’m glad they updated it where you can’t hear that now. Frankly, it was beyond haunting. It’s still absolutely heartbreaking. I’m sobbing. Again.
I'm not sure what the point of listening is if it's edited
where did you hear it?
I was wondering about that. I was with both parents when they died from respiratory illnesses years apart and the labored breathing and struggling for air is haunting and disturbing. It is not something I wish anyone to go through.
Subtitles would be nice.
@@natalie423 Calm yourself, you or anyone can't reverse what happened no matter how many ppl you flip out at in the comments about a tragic event from the past. We're just trying to understand the video because the audio is distorted a bit, we're not saying "Oh dang that sucks, but I can't hear the video" we clicked this video to hear the audio is all...
@@natalie423 You are a 12yrs old going on 11 because you are an idiot.
Especially as a non native English speaker I difinitely wish they had subtitles
