This is probably my favourite storyline in the railway series, just because it shows The Fat Controller at his best, even if he is a bit stern. Especially in the missing coach, it shows how smart the me man really is. Not someone to be toyed with. In the deputation, he’s shown to be a good judge of character and even has a soft side. It’s in stories like this that I want to think of him as my favourite character.
Show Donald and Douglas in Scotland at the start with diesels everywhere and the Scottish regions mangers messenger telling them Donald go to sodor and them making a plan for both of them to go and then it cuts to sodor with Donald and Douglas theme
I’m pretty sure that whistle was used to denote a time and setting change. It would be confusing to go straight to the fat controller in his office right after talking to the engines. In text, you can show a setting change with dashed lines. In speech, you can’t.
Twins from the UK that get into trouble, are never apart, and talk in unison or both say one half of a sentence while the other says the other half...I'd be worried for them if they were ginger, because then one would probably die.
Had only one of them come to Sodor, the other might have eventually been scrapped. This was the reason they both came and the reason they tried to force the Fat Controller to keep them both. They're Scottish, too. It's no wonder they can be compared to another set of British twins.
I wonder if Douglass just explained that he would be scrapped if he went back, if Sir Topham Hat would've kept both of them from the start. Although that wouldn't make for an interesting story
Joey the joj that's because they might be 652 class because the 652s were the same engine with a curved cab and a larger tender and the 652s were numbered up to 57646
Duck: I remember on the Great Western- All three: That tin pot railway! Me: Tin pot! I'll have you three know there still some Great Western stories I haven't heard of!
Not really. Their home railway (the Scottish Region of British Railways) had only agreed to sell one engine. The other, who came along, still technically belongs to them. And considering that both of them arrived on Sodor, one could easily jump to the conclusion that the other engine was stolen.
It's intentional, actually. "Hello might be derived from an older spelling variant, hullo, which the American Merriam-Webster dictionary describes as a "chiefly British variant of hello", and which was originally used as an exclamation to call attention, an expression of surprise, or a greeting. Hullo is found in publications as early as 1803."
what i didnt understand about this book is the fact TFC is getting a FREE engine with 57646, so to be honest i dont see whys hes complaining/planning on sending one home, seriously..Free Locomotive!
i think its because if he used an engine that was already in being used still people would have moaned saying 'it cant be them because there working here' or 'they've been scrapped', so better just to do tis and put them together on an island,
I must say, I really like this narrator's voice. What a refined British accent!
Willie Rushton is pretty good at storytelling.
Are you American

Best narrator ever associated with Thomas.

It's a shame that he didn't get his own book in the RWS.
I don't know about anyone else, but I never could get enough of Gordon and Duck bickering.
Donald and Douglas are my favourite characters.
Same 😁
buy one engine get one free
Sounds like my kinda deal!
btomimatsucunard Buy one, get one stolen
"If you order now, youll get another engine completely free!!"
If both of them are steam locomotives, I’m in!!!
That'd be a good bargain.
I personally wouldn’t mind receiving two steam locomotives when I ordered one. As long as it’s a steam engine, I’ll be happy
Another one of my favorite railway series stories
It just dawned on me that out of all of Awdry's characters there are no engines hailing from Ireland.
I thought Emily was, because of her accent
@@benwise6517 Emily's Scottish as well
@@TheRailwayStories123 That makes sense, considering she's from the GNR
I always assumed Duncan was Irish, but he’s Scottish too I just learned.
Isn't Percy's design from Ireland?
I can imagine this book being adapted into a Thomas and Friends special.
Show Donald and Douglas in Scotland at the start with diesels everywhere and the Scottish regions mangers messenger telling them Donald go to sodor and them making a plan for both of them to go and then it cuts to sodor with Donald and Douglas theme
That's what the whistle sound effect is used after the narration says "The news with received with acclimation".
Who's That Engine Thunder By? 😕
Heath Whitley IT'S STEVE!!!

Thanks. Now we can hear what the narrator is saying

The whistle at the start was a real class 812 whistle
I Know But: Who's That Engine?
Donald & Douglas. Sorry for the late reply.
I’ll correct that.
The last surviving 812.
One thing i do wonder is what engine class the Whistle at 1:25 belong's to,i think it's a Very pretty.
i've looked one of the twins numbers up... no.57646, doesnt exsist, their numbers stopped after 57645, which is odd
Joey the joj that's because they might be 652 class because the 652s were the same engine with a curved cab and a larger tender and the 652s were numbered up to 57646
it's an Inside Joke that Their Numbers Go Up Exactly After their Class' Numbers Ended

what symbol is that on their tenders?

It's very common for people to, the fat controller dose it himself I mean like it no big deal I just makes it more realistic
I know I just wanted to point it out since it's quite interesting
Don't forget how old the railway series is. This was illustrated at a time when it was a common site and weren't fully known it was bad for you
Ladies and gentlemen this is what we call a buy one get one free.
Not really.

Douglas made the right choices to go to sodor with Donald to escape from scrap
@TheSI3DRemakist I'm pretty sure its the cycling lion BR insigina.
This is getting out of hand! Now there are two of them!
Note: the title is ment to be “Hello Twins” but it was misspelled too hullo twins

@dylanbobby1 you mean like he would just be lying around not doing anything and money needed for coal water and repairs etc?
can anyone tell me the 2 twins engine in 1 body? one at front and one at back? with purple aint?
what i didnt understand about this book is the fact TFC is getting a FREE engine with 57646, so to be honest i dont see whys hes complaining/planning on sending one home, seriously..Free Locomotive!
That would be stealing
TheSI3DRemakist and he would have to pay for more coal and water
TheSI3DRemakist It would be stealing and an extra engine means spending more money on coal and water
I honestly wouldn’t mind getting another engine when I only ordered one. As long as they’re both steam locomotives, I’m in!!!
This was a deal sir topham hat bought an engine and got another for free two for the price of one
@CurseThomasFromHiT2 Yeah, he is soothing
hey dude, nice upload. by any chance could you send me the narration? also do you have the missing coach?
It's in his account somewhere.
The twins were smart. 🏴
That 'Missing Coach' story after this would leave you in confusion otherwise.
@TroPicTank the other railway would probably find out. he would have to send more money for the other engin. (which he does anyway later on)
i think its because if he used an engine that was already in being used still people would have moaned saying 'it cant be them because there working here' or 'they've been scrapped', so better just to do tis and put them together on an island,

Series 2(1986)
Narrated by: George Carlin
You can tell that the Fat Controler is getting pissed off in this story.
I'll say. But why should he getting mad? Besides, at least he can buy one and get one for free.
Exactly, he should have accepted both engines right off the bat. Plus, they should have explained why both of them came instead of just one.
@@bigmacsama that would be stealing plus he would need to buy more water and coal
