Siem Reap Cambodia’s Sok San Road - our fave bars, food & more! Ride around with us!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- In this video, we take you for a ride the full length of Sok San Road in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Most people visit pub street, but Sok San Road is next on the list for bars, restaurants, and probably the best people watching in town. Pull up a bar stool in a low slung shack bar and join us for the ride! We also visit Siem Reap’s biggest mosque and have a look at the food options in that area.

There's a link to the map of this ride in the description of this video. 😊🎉
Awkun, bong !
Khmers seem to hate renovating old homes.
They only like new homes.
Must be some kind of superstition.
Like most things in Cambodia.
Unsure, but they keep on building 🏢🏫🏢🏫🏫🏫🏫
Nice ride. Makes me wanna come back. ❤
You should, just wait until it's a bit cooler 😁😉
Excellente 👌 - luv the vibe of action road ( Sok San ) - ✔️👋✌️👍🙏
Glad you enjoyed it :)
"Try me" restaurant is excellent, can't remember which street, though....Khmer and French cuisine. Thanks for another good video, cheers.
Agree, Try Me is great. It's on Taphul Road and is also on our high rotation list! Thanks for watching.
Next time review ''Kebab and Falfael'' and its giant kebabs and ''Siem Reap waxing & spa'' the best little Spa in Siem Reap!!
Noted! 😃🙂
There are more restaurants /Eateries than People.
It's low season so it does seem that way 😔
Love the work you guys do! Saw you at VLT and said hi maybe a week or two ago. 😁
Oh yeah! Hope you are going well. It was nice to meet you. Love VLT ;)
Should change name to Delicious street
It's a fun little street indeed.
Any plans for a Siem Reap meat pie review video?
There are actually some pretty decent ones around town - Sa Veth, Muffin Man, Jungle Bar etc.
Jeremy will gladly accept the challenge. He is a true hero 😍 💪
Kampot has a very good meat pie restaurant...Aussie expat and local Khmer wife....they do pork schnitzle, and other stuff...if you want a change from Khmer food...they are very good, Aussie Sports Bar, If I remember correctly.
Nice - My neck of the woods when in town. I watch the horses every morning and afternoon from my bungalow.
We love Hourses 😅
I think the new build trend is really about laundering money. Nice , informative video!
I don't know how that works, but it does keep a lot of people in jobs.
@@ForRiel yes especially chinese money
Great road tour... Yummy
There's so much packed into one road!
This is gonna be a great video! 🎉
I hope you enjoyed it :)
So nice i have to watch it twice
Thanks 🙏👍
Miss Claire, thanks for the Tour. That "The Spa" facility looked very expensive, i would have to wear a suit and tie to gain entry 😁. Surely the massage shops aren't all that "Hoity Toity" in SR?🧐
Thanks for watching! It's actually not that expensive, but Siem Reap is full of good cheap spas.
I was following along on Google Maps street view and it's amazing how much has changed since their most recent images from December of 2022. I think when I get back in a year it'll be an entirely different city than it was when I was there 5 years ago! I love these moto rides that you do!
It has changed much, we are always finding new places around town.
Great video clear voice like professional journalist .good to have motorbike very important with helmet ⛑😅👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it 😀😊
It seems the country has made a great stride when it comes to littering. Way to go, Cambodia!
It's still a long way to go but getting better 😀
Thanks for the ride! I keep adding restaurant names on my list, can't wait to get there next October!
Hope you enjoy it! 😊😁
Delicious ride
It sure is! 😋🤤
sok san = peaceful in Khmer
Well that's not a very good name for that street 🤯😎🤣
@@ForRiel really! I guess they should change a new name then.
They build these mansions to launder money
Some rich people who have their money to burn for new structures. Great updates as always from For-Riel$. Peace ✌️
Unsure who they are building all these shops for... It's very strange 🤯
Thank You Jeremy & Clair so Nice to have such a Beautiful Motto Ride along Sok San Road Very Nice. 🙂❤👍
Glad you enjoyed it 😀 ☺️
Liked the video, Claire and Jeremy. I just got back from Vanuatu. Winter there so lower temperatures but like Cambodia high humidity and sweated a lot especially in the north when visiting Santo. 😰😰
Hello, rain has finally started and taken a lot of the moisture out of the air. This morning was cool but the Humidity was insane. So nice now 😻😊
Excellent video, brings me back to last summer when I stayed on Sok San Road. I stayed at Diamond Angkor. you are right lots of good restaurants including Jungle Burger and Tempe. I liked Khmer Taste.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😁😊
Definitely 👍 a road for eating… yum…
So many nice places in SR to eat 😃😄
Thank you! I enjoyed this video.
You are so welcome! 😀🤗
My go to hotel in Siem Reap,
Central Suite Residence is on the right shortly after Savitha Bvd. Opposite Khmer Taste is a popular place at reasonable prices.
Concrete Drain Road does not seem good as a road name in a tourism focused area.
Our Friend Marc stayed there, it was a nice place.
Most of those shops/bars have great store front characters .😅❤
Yes they do 🤣😁
sip slurp munch yum :)
And everything in between! :)
Nice video
Thanks for watching and commenting ☺️☺️
I stayed in Onederz during COVID lockdown for 5 months and used to go and feed the horses at the Happy Ranch. It wasn't really a thing to do, but the owner was really friendly and allowed me to visit from time to time and say hello to the horses. The garden is beautiful. Thanks for the video. Some lovely memories and I'll be back one day soon hopefully. 🙏❤️
That's so cool! We used to order food from Onederz all the time back then as they always had deals on. Those were some strange times.
"Shoutout to Clayton and the team!" - besides burgers, Jungle Burger also has terrific Kiwi meat pies with mash and mushy peas - not to be missed. Breakfasts at Temple Design are a real bargain - lots of options, both Western and Khmer.
Thanks for the tips! 🙂😁
Chili Mango Margaretta also goes down very well but I get brain freeze trying to drink it before it melts!
@@ForRiel You're welcome! One more: Bella's Pizzeria (found between the (thankfully) Thai-style 7-11, and Jungle Burger on the north side Sok San) is the closest thing this former New Yorker has found to real New York pizza.🍕
@@808bear2 Ha! You're right! Thanks for the reminder. I haven't had one of those since Clayton and his wife relocated to Soc San Road. They're awesome, but dangerous! 🥶🍹
Hello Claire & Jeremy, another great ride along in Siem Reap, excellent👍. Good eye and humor Claire " hourse riding "😊.
Glad you enjoyed it 😄😊
Thanks for the ridealong. Do you pretty much use USD for monetary transactions or is it a mix of currencies?
We use our ABA to QR scan to pay mostly and anything else we pay in Riel. US dollars are painful as they have to be perfect compared to Riel.
WOW! Sok San Road has really changed since I lived there in 2017.
I had an apartment room just a short walk down Concrete Drain Road. I walked Sok San Road almost every day in the two months I was there.
Some of the places seem to be still the same, but lots of new development, and new bars. And building is expanding south of Concrete Drain road. Of course the Temple businesses. The Temple business group has their fingers into everything. I hear they are quite invested in Phnom Penh also, and perhaps a couple other places. Going near or in their dance nightclub in Pub Street, I had to wear ear plugs…ha, ha, ha.
Great little video. Thank you Claire and Jeremy. ….yes..a few nice little mom and pop restaurants along there. I hope to be back soon.
Namo Buddhaya, 🙏🏼 ☸️ 🙂
Siem Reap has changed so much in the last 4 years. A lot of businesses closed down during Covid and SR is slowly getting back to pre Covid levels.
Great video! Loved it! 😁😊
Thanks so much 👍😊
My wife absolutely loves Temple. I think we ate there at least once every day we were in Siem Reap 🤣 Although I'm not sure it was that specific one...I believe there were several Temple cafe/restaurants.
It's so good! They own half of Siem Reap, but they are Siem Reap locals so go on them.
hi claire, can you please update people on the new arrival/departure system. I believe the old pen and paper way is about to expire on the 1st July..
Great ride,,,,peace and love ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks ✌️ 🙏👍
Nice video Thanks !
Thank you for watching 🙂
Excellent ride along! Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! 😌
X bar,blasts it’s crappy music ‘til 4am each night....how the locals don’t complain!!!!!
Not much residential close by, I guess.
Awesome! I'll be looking for a rental near here but west of concrete drain road.
Love your videos, extremely helpful.
Dwayne from Australia 🇦🇺 😊
No problem 😃😁
Very informitive. Planning on retiring in Siem Reap, as a US Navy Vet its virtually the only place in SE Asia I haven't been. Do you have any thoughts on the "Tourism City" development near the Makro market? Interesting listings there, but it looks like the development plans were hit hard by Covid. Do the local Expats have a consensus view on that area?
Hi, great to hear you're considering Siem Reap. Tourism City is a LONG way out of town. Most people live in or closer to the city so it's easier to take advantage of all the great food, cafes and bars. You'd need a moto if you decided to live out there.
Thanks for all the food recommendations. I also want to mention Atlantis Metal Bar, my favorite bar in Siem Reap! It's across from Downtown Eatery. The owner is Japanese and the customers are a good mix of foreigners and locals. There is also live music sometimes. Cheers!
Fantastic thanks for the heads up ☺️😃
Near the Phare Circus end of Sok San is a great Khmer restaurant and bar called Funzone. Its very unassuming and they only have 1 copy of the menu in ebgljsh but the food is amazing and the drinks are very reasonable.
Sounds great! I think I have seen their sign but never thought to go inside. Thanks for watching :)
If u got dengue fever and wound up in the cheaper hospital for 5 nights what could be the worst costs. I’m a 72 female
Not a clue 🗝️🧩
I see a lot of half built and abandoned condo buildings in Pattaya. The place is way overbuilt and a lot of money laundering going on. IMHO
Honestly they just keep building next to other abandoned buildings 😕
Some owners did not have enough money to finish the building so they leave them until they have more. They don’t normally use the bank to borrow funds…
Also can one buy a used Tuk Tuk and drive it on the freeway?
Yes, unsure if you can drive it on the freeway
Cool ride, thanks for sharing. 🏍
Thanks for watching :)
The streets look very clean 👍
Yes they do. They keep the tourist area pretty clean. But they need to get more bins 😔
Making me hungry - well done 🙏
Thank you 😋
🍺❤😊😉🤗🙂🧐😎🤠
😅😎☺️😜😍
We arrive Tuesday. Can't wait to see some of the galleries and the new Angkor market. The new trail looks nice. I am curious if you know how long it is? Thanks for all the great information!
Awesome! If you start the trail at the botanical gardens carpark and follow it to the south west corner of Angkor Wat's moat, it would be around 3.5km one way. It's mostly shaded, too.
Have fun! 😀
Have you guys tried prahok, which is fermented fish paste, it's very popular in Cambodia.😀
No.... We can't get past the smell 😔🤢
@@ForRiel 😆
You guys are awesome .🫡🙏
Cheers, mate!
great video
Thank you!
Good luck 👍
Thank you 😊🙏
Love your news vlogs watching from the UK, one question on a subject that you mentioned about three months ago. Have there been any further developments with regard to tourist visa’s bringing them into line with Vietnam? We are visiting Siem Reap in January 25 and your news and other content provides excellent food for thought when planning our trip. Keep up the excellent work
Hi Colin, great to have you here. I haven't heard anything further about the combined SEA visa. There would be a huge announcement if progress had been made. I'd say it's a way down the track - things like that are strange here. They either happen overnight or they take forever. No middle ground! Thanks for watching.
@@ForRiel Thanks for the update, it’s much appreciated.
I do love Khmer taste but who doesn't. I stayed at central suites its well rated but we didn't like it much. Blue spa well rated too but I didn't find it that great. Always love your videos can't wait to be back in September
Khmer Taste is well priced, but we feel like the staff are unhappy there. Since we noticed this, we have been going elsewhere. September will roll around very quickly!
@@ForRiel where should I go?
❤❤❤❤🎉
