I like the fact that he just beats the hell out of them. That's how I demo kits. The first time I sat down at a set of Sonorlites in 1987, the owner of the drum shop said "you know, you CAN play them like you normally would". As you might imagine, the clerks and management of certain conglomerate music stores begin dancing like Santa's happy little elves with big smiles upon their faces every time they see me come walking through the door. 😆😆😆
I loved the sound of all three kits but my God that green sparkle was stunning! And those Paiste's were among the best I've ever heard. You guys just continue to outdo yourselves on each video.
One very important thing to remember about John Bonham, and many people do not know this or are unaware of, is how he tuned his drums. They were very big drums yet he tuned them surprisingly high. Especially his huge 26 inch bass drum. He got such a massive sound out of his drums with this tuning.
I remember I saw a blue one as a kid in a store and the feeling has stayed with me. I never bought one and don't really care to now, but it just reminds me of before I got my first kit. The Sabian rocktagon holds a similar place in my heart too.
Wow! I’m totally a Ludwig guy and I love all 3 of these kits. I play a 4 piece kit but that Jellybean kit is so fun! The green sparkle is fantastic as well. All of them are great. You guys make fun videos for sure!
Those little moments of personality in these videos like "what does silvery mean?" make these videos that much better imo. On top of of course the great tuning, micing, mixing, lighting, editing, etc.
Many moons ago I had a Slingerland set and I put a clear Remo Pinstripe on the batter side of the kick and an Evans gold mirrored hydraulic head on the resonant side of the kick. With a medium-thin weighted blanket for muffling, I received so many compliments for the sound and the look of the kick drum. Too bad my playing sucked back then. Thankfully I don't suck as much now...according to my mom. Happy New Year's, DCP!
Never been a fan of acrylic drums, even less than Ludwig, but these kits sound pretty cool and I'm sure that, combined with your professionalism and expertise will find an adequate accommodation somewhere in the world. On the other side I found really stunning the Paiste set, simply the best
I'm a tune as low as possible guy, but that sound from the green was a bit too much, but that dancing kick drum took the show :) The 8 piece kit was the best to my ears. Keep creating great videos like this, thank you!
When I was a beginner (back in the 70s), I used to drool over the Vistalites in the Ludwig catalog. Love the Jelly Bean kit. Lots of melodic possibilities. But those Zep style kits are really well thought out. Well done.
Really love those hydraulic heads man. I put a set on my Ludwig maples and it was just what I was looking for! Love the sound of the acrylics and Ludwig does it best
Gorgeous kit, looks tasty enough to eat! I also love the concert toms which stirs good memories of my first kit back in the seventies when I added two maxwin concert toms to my kit, I hope they become popular again. All the best guys, Hef 🏴
I used to be very doubtful of the quality of acrylic drums as well. That all changed once I bought a crystal beat kick as an impulse purchase. It ended up becoming my main for gigs because of how punchy and cutting it was. I love how despite it being dry and controlled, it has so much presence.
Just sold my acrylic zep set I had for 10 years. It was a lot of fun for many years yet just too big to gig frequently and somewhat of a challenge to tune frequently I found. I now have my Ludwig classic maple kit, the Tama star bubinga set I got from you guys, and a Tama starclassic maple on the way. Love the sizes on that jellybean kit looks like a ton of fun to play. Cheers keep up the great videos!
Great video as always guys. Incredibly sensitive to head changes, wow. These would be a lot of fun to play around with in recording situations because you could cover quite a bit of sonic ground based just on head selection it seems. And I can tell you from experience that Vista lights absolutely love big rooms.
Octet was cool. I agree with Shane, never really been into acrylic but lately with the Volume Series from Tamburo and hearing these, got to say they sound pretty solid. Good consistency of tone. Awesome drums, great videos! Thanks guys!
Great video, as always - love the drumming, the humor, and the presentation. Not a fan of acrylic drums overall, but these do sound pretty nice - I am sure these will all find good homes. Thanks for carrying so many choices for us all!
Honestly thought Shane was going to try the Aldridge bilateral cymbal choke in the last demo. I've never heard acrylic drums sounds so good, it's got me contemplating.
I bought the amber sparkle kit from Drum Center and man let me tell you, the set sounds quite amazing. Same thing here, I've only played maple or oak drums and had kind of a slight bias toward acrylic shells. They are different. Hard to describe. Silvery? Hm. Maybe? They are certainly warm sounding and have a wonderful fundamental pitch. It's easy to see why they are better played wide open. They really don't possess any sort of run-away overtones. They really are great just as they are. All the silver dot heads are still on the set, I just changed the batter bass drum head to tame the bass drum just a little. I couldn't be happier with these.
I got the ludwig vistalites back in the 70's when they first came out. 24 inch bass drum was a beast to move around. No bottom heads on any of the drums. They sounded like cannons. Cost about $1000 in 1970s money for 7 pieces. So this price is not outrageous in 2023. Great stuff.
The Zep kits sounded fantastic at both tunings, but low with the hydraulics were particularly thunderously. Especially the bass. Nearly overwhelmed the snare 😲😂
Kind of cool how these acrylic kits sound as good as a lot of wood kits, at least on this side of UA-cam. If I didn't know they were acrylic, I wouldn't know. The Zep kits were amazing.
The green sparkle set sounds perfect. The floor toms sound like u just wanna hit them really powerfully and articulately. Bass drum sounds great too. Tuning was perfect on the green sparkle acrylic. Green sparkle acrylic looks great too. I dont know why but i keep going back to acrylic in terms of sound. When tuned right, they just make me wanna pound away on them with joyful passion.
I am totally surprised how good all three sound.. I never thought anything would sound as good as wood drums. I was wrong. The sound is great. The Jelly Bean set was my favorite.
The green kit is absolutely killer!!!! OMG my inears almost did the job of reproducing all that bass!!! I yearn to have it 🤩 we all know how high tunning sounds. It's a classic. But low tunning is stunning!!!
That was great guys. The Vistas are definitely something to consider for a lot of rock, and/or a rock-cover band ... deep tone and volume, I thought they sounded great. And,...those 602s ... WOW!!! How about the term "glassy!" 😉Guys what were the 2 crash sizes on the Zep Kit demos? I'm assuming 19 and 20? Thanks
I have a 8 piece vistalite set of Ludwig from 1974. I love the sound and durability. But I've always tuned slightly high. The sound of those tuned low to me was incredible. To me it sounded perfect. To what I hear in my head. Guess what I'm fixing to do. Buy new heads and tune down. I'm glad I heard this I probably wouldn't have believed it if someone just told me.
the dot heads sound much better than the hydro heads on this kit for sure....maybe just the head type. My kit is a 7 pc classic '71 Ludwig with a 24" kick and an 18 floor [on the big end] but they sing with pinstripes!~ and a super sensitive snare with a pin as well! no one ever does that but it works after the head is broken in!
I'm here late 😕. I love acrylics! ❤️. Wood, metal, everything! Love your videos! And I I've been a satisfied customer. But one thing I have to know...what are the black sticks that Shane and Tony have been playing? Ahead?. Thanks in advance for service and what these sticks are?
Love the jelly bean set. Looks and sounds great and unique. Pricey for me at this time but perhaps some day. By the way what sticks was Shane using? the black ones?
Thanks for posting this. The green set is photographing as teal. Is that how they look or are they the more emerald green of the original WFL sets ? Much appreciated.
absolute madness look at that candy cane . ,,, wow ' ' ' so sparkle acrylic = Wtf , . . a acrylic shell ,. looks insane ,. probably grows wings and fly's out of there , .. impressive ,. u wanted acrylic your considering all these new Ludwig kits :)''
I had a red VistaLite kit in the early 70s , the snare was unusable , so I carried on using the 6 1/2 Supra I already had . The 22 in kick sounded like an oil drum unless I stuffed in a pillow ( which kind of defeated the point of having a clear kit ) and close mic'd the batter head ... The 12 x 8 , 13 x 9 , 16 x 16 toms sounded OK , but when your main drums sound so horrible , it's moot how cool they look ...
Shane’s comedic and drumming skills have improved drastically over the years
Seriously love that Barrett is the go-to performer for high-tuned Bonham kits. His playing suits that sound perfectly. Another great video guys
He is a Rawk expert
I like the fact that he just beats the hell out of them. That's how I demo kits. The first time I sat down at a set of Sonorlites in 1987, the owner of the drum shop said "you know, you CAN play them like you normally would".

😆😆😆
I love how you included that goofy voicemail at the start! 😂
The DCP is absolutely top notch. I can NEVER imagine a world where these Ludwig’s aren’t perfection! Love ALL of the content! 💯🥁
I sure love the pure joy on Barrett’s face when he plays! Those sparkle Vistas are so cool!
The jellybean are so so mean! What a great sounding kit from top to bottom, they look and sound fantabulous and very well played, Shane
I loved the sound of all three kits but my God that green sparkle was stunning! And those Paiste's were among the best I've ever heard. You guys just continue to outdo yourselves on each video.
💯percent fact!!
Definitely agree about the Paistes. The bigger the better. BWOOSH!
One very important thing to remember about John Bonham, and many people do not know this or are unaware of, is how he tuned his drums. They were very big drums yet he tuned them surprisingly high. Especially his huge 26 inch bass drum. He got such a massive sound out of his drums with this tuning.
The Green Sparkle acrylic kit just sounded the most POWERFUL. And definitely beautiful. I kinda like the Amber one too.
All 3 🏆🏆🏆
I remember I saw a blue one as a kid in a store and the feeling has stayed with me. I never bought one and don't really care to now, but it just reminds me of before I got my first kit. The Sabian rocktagon holds a similar place in my heart too.
Always had a thing about rocktagons too. Picked one up last year - like it a lot!!
If you ever find a Rocktagon splash, get it! You won't be disappointed.
Aw... now I want a Vistalite kit. These look and sound so amazing!!!
LOVE the orange sparkle
Barrett is the man!!!! Love his style, he is a rock action machine and I can’t get enough!!! Keep rocking Barrett!!!!
Wow! I’m totally a Ludwig guy and I love all 3 of these kits. I play a 4 piece kit but that Jellybean kit is so fun! The green sparkle is fantastic as well. All of them are great. You guys make fun videos for sure!

Barrett...my happy drum guy therapy! Awesome much needed thank you!
The green sparkle kit awesome. I have a 1965 green sparkle kit that I painted myself and they are great!
Acrylic drums + higher tuning = THE WAY TO GO!
Great video, great playing! The orange sparkle looks great, but the low tuning, WOW!
I like the hydraulic heads!
Yet another jaw-dropping content from the guys 👍👍👍
Thank you Koson!
Ludwigs vistalite are the best acrilic drums on the market today. Looks
great and sound second to none.
I love that Amber kit and the full mic'd sound is amazing!!!
Many moons ago I had a Slingerland set and I put a clear Remo Pinstripe on the batter side of the kick and an Evans gold mirrored hydraulic head on the resonant side of the kick. Great video as usual. And nice to see Barrett...eating well.
I'm a tune as low as possible guy, but that sound from the green was a bit too much, but that dancing kick drum took the show :)
The 8 piece kit was the best to my ears.
Keep creating great videos like this, thank you!

There was always a lot of cache with the
Ludwig acrylic kits.
They really do sound a dream.
Hats off to you guys.
Blessings.
Really love those hydraulic heads man. I put a set on my Ludwig maples and it was just what I was looking for! Love the sound of the acrylics and Ludwig does it best
That low tuned vistalite with hydraulic heads is really a unique, deep sound, bass drum was awesome too.
Magnifico.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gorgeous kit, looks tasty enough to eat! I also love the concert toms which stirs good memories of my first kit back in the seventies when I added two maxwin concert toms to my kit, I hope they become popular again.
All the best guys, Hef 🏴

WOW INCREDIBLE JOB ON THESE , SOUNDED ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS, ANOTHER KILLER VIDEO
Thanks, Cliff.
Octet was cool. I agree with Shane, never really been into acrylic but lately with the Volume Series from Tamburo and hearing these, got to say they sound pretty solid. Good consistency of tone. Awesome drums, great videos! Thanks guys!

Thanks Jason, gotta have choices, right?!
Thanks for the video, these kits sound and look great, the Jelly Bean is amazing, take it home 😊
I love the sound and feel of vistalite’s! Also blue is my favorite color but I think that coke bottle color is beating it out what a color!
Those Vistas look and SOUND incredible.
I like the fact that you mixing it with the real sound, not only through the microphones....
Lud VIG, geniuses. No w in German. Epic
The bass drum of the green kit sounds amazing!!!
I love the Ludwig jellybeans and salesmen samples.. Fun finishes
Nunca me habían llamado la atención los kits de acrílico, pero la jellybean me enamoró 😍 Y el sonido que tienen impresionante!
Honestly thought Shane was going to try the Aldridge bilateral cymbal choke in the last demo. I've never heard acrylic drums sounds so good, it's got me contemplating.
They all sound amazing!
They all sound good!
Low tuning with hydraulic heads is my favourite. Stage-ready and earth-shattering.
I bought the amber sparkle kit from Drum Center and man let me tell you, the set sounds quite amazing. Same thing here, I've only played maple or oak drums and had kind of a slight bias toward acrylic shells. They are different. Hard to describe. Silvery? Hm. Maybe? The Jellybean kit reminds me of Zak Starky's Olympic kit.
Y'all must have a lot of fun + recording experience. Set up new inventory, play around, make videos, repeat.
Kind of cool how these acrylic kits sound as good as a lot of wood kits, at least on this side of UA-cam. If I didn't know they were acrylic, I wouldn't know. The Zep kits were amazing.
Shane is a freaking monster!!!
Lower tuning sounded crazy
All the drums in the jellybean kit sounded great. I would go with a subset of those sizes.
The low tuning on the green sparkle acrylic kit sounded like 4 bass drums. Great video though! They other two kits sounded great!
Sold my 5 piece blue Vistalite with Paiste 2002 sound edge hi-hats years ago. Still regretting it.
Always liked the blue over the other colors.
nice playing shane!
Love the Ludwig vistalites
It was a blue Ludwig vistalite kit that first mesmerized me back in 4th grade... I'll take the jellybean kit, please.
The green kit is absolutely killer!!!! OMG my inears almost did the job of reproducing all that bass!!! I yearn to have it 🤩 we all know how high tunning sounds. It's a classic. But low tunning is stunning!!!
Nice!

How about the term "glassy!" 😉Guys what were the 2 crash sizes on the Zep Kit demos? I'm assuming 19 and 20? Thanks
Thank you! Yes, 19" on the player's left and 20" on the player's right.
I would be curious about "lighting up" the acrylic sparkle drums.
I will bet they are pretty impressive to see, either way.
Not my vibe, but the sparkle in the acrylic is cool. Great videos, really enjoy the stuff you all put out.
Fair enough, thanks!
Excellent. Liked and subscribed. Beautiful kit
Thanks, Greg! Welcome.
SO COOL!!!!!!!!
Would love to see all the acrylic brand kits compared one day, If you guys did happen to do it, I've over looked it
Love my vintage Ludwig drums!
the dot heads sound much better than the hydro heads on this kit for sure....maybe just the head type. My kit is a 7 pc classic '71 Ludwig with a 24" kick and an 18 floor [on the big end] but they sing with pinstripes!~ and a super sensitive snare with a pin as well! no one ever does that but it works after the head is broken in!
I definetely suggest you offer the green kit already low tuned as an option. I would take it straight to the gig!!!
Thank you Carey! Those are the Abe laboriel Jr. sticks. Tony and Shane love them, unfortunately they are currently unavailable...
Paiste 602.. Hell, I had a full set of them about 100 years ago. Nice and fast metals.
Does the jelly bean kit come with a year supply of Bean Boozled Jelly Beans?
Shane’s fill into cymbal choke groove at 8:26 was smoking hot. Damn. 👌🏽
Ludwig 🏆
Confronting bias with Shane 😆😆😆
They all sound great but if I had to pick one I think I would pick the green set they're beautiful
Love the jelly bean set. Looks and sounds great and unique. Pricey for me at this time but perhaps some day. By the way what sticks was Shane using? the black ones?
Those are the Abe Laboriel Jr signature sticks, we love them!
Love the intro, nice one. Idiots should indeed be celebrated
Those drums are what drums should sound like. That is what you get with Ludwig’s
I TOTALLY understand "silvery". LOL. Just as I completely understand the "sound of snow falling". Falling snow is whispery and silvery.
The first 3 seconds had me thinking you were playing the intro to "My Hero" by foo fighters.
Want to hit it out of the park guys??
Put a clear dot on the snares.
Huge difference I can't believe you didn't showcase this?.
Ok...Rock on boys!!!
Thanks for posting this. The green set is photographing as teal. Is that how they look or are they the more emerald green of the original WFL sets ? Much appreciated.
absolute madness look at that candy cane . ,,, wow ' ' '
so sparkle acrylic = Wtf , . . a acrylic shell ,. looks insane ,. probably grows wings and fly's out of there , .. impressive ,. u wanted acrylic your considering all these new Ludwig kits :)''
GREEN SPARKLE ALL DAY !!! WAY BETTER THAN DW IN MY OPINION. THANKS FOR SHARING
Hey is that a tama drum kit behind the other one? The blue fade one?
I had a red VistaLite kit in the early 70s , the snare was unusable , so I carried on using the 6 1/2 Supra I already had . The 22 in kick sounded like an oil drum unless I stuffed in a pillow ( which kind of defeated the point of having a clear kit ) and close mic'd the batter head ... The 12 x 8 , 13 x 9 , 16 x 16 toms sounded OK , but when your main drums sound so horrible , it's moot how cool they look ...
oh, man...those green sparklies are theee shittt.
jellybean amazing
