Paul is the lead vocalist here. Ringo on drums. Paul’s mother was Mary. She died when he was young. He had a dream of her and when he woke up he wrote this song. I believe it was already almost fully formed as he woke . He’s a genius.

Though released in 1970, this performance was actually filmed in January of '69. The Beatles officially broke up in April, 1970. John Lennon was murdered in front of his Dakota home in NYC on December 8, 1980, by which time the Beatles had been broken up as a band for 10 years.

Ringo is the drummer. The Beatles were together recording from 1962 - 1970. Together in those 8 years, they became the most successful act to ever live. All four of them went on to have successful solo careers. John was shot dead in 1980. George died of cancer in 2001.

BTW, coming in and out on the camera shot playing maracas is their legendary producer George Martin.

Yes, there have been "cleanups" on this 1970 original film, the latest by Peter Jackson on the Disney "Get Back" series on the Beatles, which covers these recording sessions. The technology on the movie is amazing.

Oh, s**t, that's what I thought-Billy Preston is on this track! So glorious him playing with the Beatles! He would have been a massive addition to their band! But too many troubles, this band would not survive the close of the 1960's.

In this video, Paul McCartney is singing and playing piano. John Lennon is playing bass, George Harrison is on lead guitar and Ringo Starr is on the drums. The uncredited guy on the keyboards is Billy Preston, playing what sounds like a church organ, but I think it is a Hammond organ. (Billy Preston, an American, was a friend of the Beatles. Preston went on to have several hits himself, and his association with the Beatles almost certainly helped his career along.) The usual lineup in the Beatles has McCartney on bass, and Lennon on rhythm guitar. However, as you can see, they are pretty versatile.
Of the four Beatles, McCartney and Starr are still alive. Lennon was murdered in 1980 and Harrison died of cancer in 2001. Billy Preston died of kidney and respiratory failure in 2006.

I'll get my head shot off for saying it, but Billy Preston is called by some the "5th Beatle". I've been reproached by those saying their producer, George Martin was the "5th Beatle". I would argue they both played that role at different times. Billy is one of history's great keyboard players, likely the most talented musician the Beatles have ever played with. Not only that, but Billy Preston has also recorded and performed live with the Rolling Stones as well. Amazing to see him on stage in the early '70's with Mick Jagger, Keith Richard, and the rest of the Stones.
Billy Preston was a legend in his own right. So incredible to see him playing electric piano and switching over to that church organ part that I have always loved in this song from the first time that I heard it!

McCartney, the lead singer here, is still a current star. If you watch the entertainment shows, ET, Extra, Inside Edition..., you can't go a week without seeing Paul McCartney. He recently was at a Taylor Swift show and everybody partied at his house afterward. Taylor plugged her phone into his system and was the DJ for the night. Eddie Murphy was just on Late Night talking about how he met the only two people that had him star-struck, Muhammed Ali and Paul McCartney. Paul's last album debuted at number two on the Billboard Hot 100.

Peeter Jackson, the director/screenwriter/producer of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the Hobbit movies, is also a wiz at cleaning up old video. His award-winning World War 1 documentary, They Shall Not Grow Old, was great proof of this. His last project was working with 60 hours of film footage of the Beatles in 1969 for the Disney+ network 8 hour special The Beatles: Get Back. This is from the cleaned-up film he produced. The film was originally shot for the 1970 documentary Let it Be, now available on Disney+.

By 1967 the Beatles were shooting more elaborate music videos or at least what music videos were at the time since pre MTV, Also their was always good camera quality my guy even back in the late 30s think wizard of oz they just opted for black and white for a long while and could be lower quality with preservation, the music vids from them that came from 67 to their break up are high quality full color because they could get film crews and things like that since by 66 they did more of what they wanted because of their status as musicians, Disney plus put out the get back documentary about the month long effort back in January of 1969 for them wrote and record a albums worth of songs in a month and do a performance of those songs at the end of the month in a concert while going back to how they use to record, it was shot on 16mm but expanded to 35mm and Peter Jackson’s of lord of the rings fame cleaned it up even more to make it crystal clear, and yea this song was recorded on Jan 31st 1969 the day after the rooftop performance it got a video just never fully shown before it’s one of their most popular songs, the version in this video uses a different gutair solo which is the better one since there is a alt version for the single of the song which uses a earlier version, Also yea John has the glasses, Paul main vocal, George in red, and ringo is always the drummer expect on 3 Beatles songs. And Billy Preston played with them on the second piano, and George Martin their producer and basically 5th Beatle on the shaker. Keep going with revolver react to here there and everywhere 2022 mix and got to get you into my life 2022 mix that’s a banger

That is the great Billy Preston, formerly of the Little Richard Band, now coming into the song to provide that signature church organ sound to the song. Have always thought that was so beautiful. Described along with others as well as one of the "5th Beatles", Billy was instrumental in helping the Beatles out on this album (and this specific song) for the rest of this album, and also the Beatles final recorded album, Billy also plays synthesizer on George's "Here Comes the Sun" and on John's "I Want You (She's So Heavy).
Billy is a fascinating, incredibly talented musician, and he contributes right away with a sound that makes you remember this song! At least it did for me!

Lennon does not pass until some ten years after this was filmed. When this was filmed, the Beatles were still a functioning band. That changed when John told the group he was leaving on 9/20/69, but convinced by the Beatles new (crooked) manager Allen Klein to keep this a secret. Which he did, until Paul called a press conference in April 1970 publicly announcing that he (Paul) did; and people immediately understood the Beatles had broken up. John was enraged at Paul's audacity to take advantage of John's "secret" agreement with Allen Klein in this way.

Paul did pay something of a public price for this, with people in general believing for YEARS that HE was the one who "broke up the Beatles", whereas he was really the one who most wished they could stay together. John pointed out what it was more like in what he called the "cartoon" (drawing) of the Beatles' end: first panel, four guys on stage in a spotlight; second panel: three of them walk off stage (meaning himself, George and Ringo); third panel: the one left (Paul) says, "I quit!"
