    Paints and painting boxes are a very personal thing and depends on the individual painting style.
    Some of the plastic boxes that you have can be converted into very usable small sketching boxes if you remove the students grade paints and refill the wells with artists grade ones. The three Doms boxes for instance could be modified the same way you modified the disk case box that you've made recently. Paint with spray paint the outside of the box and refill the wells. ( tip ... in order to prevent spray paint from cracking or make bubbles on the plastic you need to sand well the plastic before applying the paint).
    The Camel Artist flat box is a fantastic studio palette. I have modified into something that looks similar it a tin box that came with some colour pencils by adding the Kuretake Gansai Gambi pans into it.
    I never liked the "transformer" type of paint boxes. Those with a lot of flaps, bottles, brushes and other tiny thing all compressed in a paint box. They are more of an annoyance than convenience.
    Finally the box that IMHO suits most in your painting style is the bijoux one because you paint relatively small, and you are the tonalist and not that much of a colourist type of artist.

    Liking your choices. Particularly the windsorand newtonwith water tank, and that Daniel Smith palette.

    I think Camel watercolours (both, student grade and artist grade) are really nice for beginners. Thoovi's watercolours are superb tbh. They're so vibrant and easy to use. I've their foldable watercolor pad and I didn't find certain colours at par with the same colours from other brands and tubes from their own brand. But they are excellent for artists of all levels. 😍😍
    Aquatone are hands down the best Indian watercolour brand ❤️❤️

    So many brands I don't recognize! Near the end with Windsor and Newton and Daniel Smith, Sennelier I started to recognize them.
    Honestly I find the tube paints are the best but I found some art phylosophy pan ones in black metal flip out that aren't too bad on-line.
    I like the container and it's the first pan ones I've bought.
    The main difference is the paint is more chalky and less translucent. I think the cheaper you go the more filler in the paint so you lose on the luminescent quality of watercolors. The only thing is also the palette colors are picked for you which can be frustrating because there's always colors you use regularly that are missing.
    Some of those looked really interesting, what was your main complaint?

    Hahaha, I know this. The whole drawer under my bed was filled with paint and art supplies. To an extent that it started to feel negative and bother me. I gave nearly everything away since 2020. Only keep 12 select tubes Schmincke Horadam and Daniel Smith. A heavy ceramics studio palette and a metal case for on the road. Life is so much easier now....😂

    Can’t disagree with your ratings! Still I would like to try the Camel and liked the tin. Did not see any Roman Szmal, I think you would rate them well, better than St Petersburg. I thought your Schmincke tiny box would come higher, you use it all the time and are obviously very comfortable with it, and you gave the bigger set five. Thoroughly agreed with your rating for Van Gogh, I would give every beginner a box of these! Affordable, usable, not disappointing.

      They are not really great for painting, I do like their graphite sets, but not the colored blocks.

    Hi Niaz, thanks, very interesting to see your selection and my wife guessed most of your ratings before the result popped up, as a fun little game.
    Some items you put down again, with no rating given. Does that speak for itself (as a no *) or were they just missed?
    Was this video just for fun? Or will you use it as an exercise to downsize items that don't 'spark joy', and move on any items rated 2*, 1* or no * ?
    Thanks for your work on YT, new to experimenting with watercolour, we'll try out your tips on how to give the impression of people and cars in cityscapes too.
    Between us we have 12 Reeves tubes, the Van Gogh 12+3 box like yours, and the 24 W&N Pro pan tin. My wife's just bought an empty W&N Sketchers Pocket Box (same as yours you rated 3*) from e-bay, to put her Reeves tubes into.
    Have you tried Reeves in tubes?
    (from the 1970's, Reeves, a British well known name in art supplies, started to go over a lot towards what we knew at school as poster paint blocks aimed at young children's art). Before plastic injection moulding c1960's Reeves did pan and tube sets in enamelled metal boxes, which would start to go rusty eventually. So this is why my wife bought a set of their tubes to try.
    Have you tried W&N Professional in a pan set?
    (Supposed to be slightly different experience than your squeezing tubes into pans, so wondered if you found this to be the case yourself?)

    Why did you give "mijello mission gold" three stars? It is very expensive in my country. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

      It is perfect if you’re painting at home only, but for travelling it doesn’t have water storage and water containers like winsor & newton which has much smaller and compact design so it is easy to carry around and it has everything in a compact unit also mijello doesn’t have slots for pans you can only use tubes which will be much harder if you want to swap the colour or clean it. Mijello is made completely out of plastic but it is good quality unlike the winsor & newton which is metal but i have been using mijello for 6 years now and personally i love it because I don’t travel much but surprisingly it can fit few brushes in it which was helpful when im travelling. Sorry for the bad English

      It can be a matter of taste. I bought sets other than mijello because: 1. Mijello has very high croma. Great for realistic and botanical but makes plein air difficult. 2. The company is rumoured to be using dyes and provides unreliable information.

      He has made a separate video where he describes his experience in detail. You can find it in his supply playlist. Honestly, it helped me pick up my art supplies as there are not many trusted reviewers or artists in India who use as many different supplies like he does.

      @@niazhannanwatercolors That is a strong pigment to control, the box lid is a good work surface for me..

    • @omaewamoushindeiru6581
      @omaewamoushindeiru6581 2 місяці тому

      @@painter08 it's not the pigments, it's the substance they add to the pigments which makes them flow uncontrollably. They are nice for vibrant abstract paintings but a pain in the as to use Qor for other painting styles.

    • @kunaljanvalkar2850
      @kunaljanvalkar2850 12 днів тому

      @@omaewamoushindeiru6581 Consider the size of the surface also. Niaz paint mostly 5x7" to 7x9" paper for demos. The QOR can travel up to 3-4" inches in a single stroke which will be impossible to control but if you start painting bigger than A4, maybe that dispersion will be desirable for washes.

    I have to recommend A Gallo tin, some good pigments to work with. I like that Camel tin. Also for tube paints, The Daniel Smith Primatek pigments are sublime...

    • @kunaljanvalkar2850
      @kunaljanvalkar2850 12 днів тому

      A Gallo and M Graham are prohibitively expensive here in India. We are a partially globalised economy. Anything that is not imported in bulk by an Indian distributor is ridiculously expensive for end consumers.
