This video is 100% POWER. From May 2021 to May 2022 I leaned in to this keto/carnivore/athletic/healthy lifestyle. Lost 150 lbs, every pound of which I have kept off. What Dr. Cywes says here is the truth. I am absolutely LOVIN' LIFE. LEAN IN AND LET 'ER RIP!!!!!!
Fantastic
Discipline is like a muscle. Flex it. Work it. It gets stronger.
My heart grows sweet with thirst and hunger.
On my first video visit with you, you encouraged me to do something fun. I remembered how I loved to paint as a child.. so, I bought small canvases and began to paint again. If something or someone sets me off, I pull out my painting stuff and get lost in it. That's one of the ways I manage my emotions. Thanks for posting!
I have Type 2 diabetes. Was put on Metformin it made me sick as a dog plus when I went on Keto it sent my B.S. way to low. I stopped the Metformin and went strictly keto. In one year I lost 90 lbs and B.S. lowered. So its been 3 years now. At times I do eat higher carb foods but not nearly as often. A potato I may eat 3xs a year instead of nightly. Keto works.
Fantastic
I just realized that dogs eat better than human.
Been sugar and processed food free since Sept 2023. Down near 50lbs. My greatest fear is going back to my old ways like Ive done countless times before. At least this time Im very aware of it. Good video.
Agreed. I was pretty steadfast and a week ago, I lost it in a Mexican restaurant with chips and cheese dip. On the way home, I thought, "well. I've already broken keto. That Dunkin coffee and 2 donuts won't hurt" 2 more donuts later and I had the moment of clarity. If I go back to sugar, I will ride it all the way down (up (in pounds)).
@@65Superhawk exactly right man! The temptation of “old food” that tastes sooo good is something I doubt will ever go away. All these influencers that are preaching carnivore and meat diet I doubt are living it 100%. no way do they not miss the taste of the food that’s literally everywhere. Its basically a battle of how well you want to feel when you get older.
I was 336 in August 2023. I am 265 now just 6 months later. I actually hit 259 on December 18, 2023. A guy turned me on to this channel and I did pretty strict keto/carnivore, including learning to love coffee with only heavy cream, not sweetened. So grateful.
Hi Doc, it’s great to hear you add horseback riding to the list of activities; however, if you ever get in the saddle, it can be helpful to know that looking at the horse’s neck or reins (as you mentioned) is not the way to go forward, let alone succeed. Horses (and their superior relatives mules) are so sensitive that they feel even a downward glance of the eyes, and that’s a clear signal to STOP, not go forward. Eyes UP, as you’re teaching your young man, is the way to make a horse GO. Always look where you want to go. There are many other lessons right there.
Happy weekend to you!
I sometimes think I want to fail. It is crazy. Whenever I get close to my goals, I explode my world and ruin everything
I do that, too.
@@susanfrary7424 I wonder why we do that? I don't get it. I don't like it.. but I always do it 🤣
I can do relate to this😢
You don't want to fail. You have an addiction. Dr Cywes does not believe that addiction is a primary brain disease, but a great many food addiction experts do believe there is a physical, substance addiction to certain food-like substances. None of wants to fail. But addiction drives us to ingest the drug. Changing behaviors is a huge part of recovery, but it is not all of it. Getting clean of the substance NO MATTER WHAT is just as important. Once the physical addiction is broken, 7 days to 3 months, it gets easier.
@@ellek6505 thank you for this response. I most certainly am addicted to sugar and carbs 🥲
All so true, and great video for emotional reinforcement that we all are on the right health journey! Thank you Dr. Cywes for what you do !
Thank you, Dr. Cywes. I needed to hear this today. 😊 I appreciate you. 👍🏻
I needed to hear this today as well
After going from keto to carnivore I have to say I have lost all my desire for carbs. Keto is a little more problematic for me because just having a bit of carbs keeps the addiction going. It is like an alcoholic having a bit of alcohol or a smoker having a few cigarettes. Cold turkey is the way to go IMO.
Reminding me of when i became a lacrosse goalie. I was never going to sprint up and down the field, hence the goalie. Once i learned to fet out and meet the ball the oncoming team I losty fear. I was actually pretty good. Thanks
Exactly. Narrow the gap
A wonderful life lesson
So important conclusion... We love you, Dr Cywes!
Brilliant....thanks! We all need this!!!
I needed to hear that. Makes sense to me. I'm working on that. I realized I'm doing much better than I thought. Thanks 🌻
I love this so much. I really needed to hear this today as well. Leaning forward is the ONLY way to go.
Show us your son again, please. He was such a beautiful baby and cant wait to see him now.
Very informative observation you have made by leaning forward!! Love from South Africa.
🇿🇦
Thank you Doc, really needed this.
Thank you for this video. Pure gold!
Amazing video! I just recently found you and your content is just the BEST. I love that you are touching on so many aspects of this lifestyle and not just hammering on what to eat! Very inspirational and powerful.
I appreciate your videos!! Since I have only recently begun watching you I am going back to your earlier posts to catch up. Great fun and educational. Sometimes a bit nerdy but through it you explain how stuff works. Thanks for all your encouragement
Love your wisdom! Thanks for so many great videos😊
Excellent!!
Wow, that was powerful... thankyou.
Thank you for this inspiring video!
Great job at keeping the channel interesting. You might be a natural entertainer :)
Brilliant vid
Thanks for your post Dr C. My birthday it’s in November right around thanksgiving and I went off the rails around that time. Then right after it’s Christmas and then New year. You get the picture. I put some weight back on and I am in pain again. I thought giving birth was hard……nope, avoiding sugars in every form it’s a lot harder 🤦🏻♀️
Not just leaning back, but learning to hold back ... because you're probably not good enough, anyway. Nobody (or at least, no good person) intends to teach "how to fail" - but that's what it is.
I speak (of course) from experience.
Agreed
Thank U 🤩
This made me think back many years to coaching t ball. The kids who realized that the ball was just sitting there to be clobbered stepped into the ball and the less confident kids naturally moved back while swinging. My coaches and I caught that and as the kids grew up some grew out of that and became confident and others that didn’t had issues.
Wow. This message is so important. You must fill the gap that junk food filled, with something much more healthy.
I have went down the slippery slope too many times to count. The trick is get up asap! Don’t roll down the hill into the muck!
Agree with your lean forward idea but interestingly when I walk in the forest I find it natural to look down when I walk (another avoidance posture or I don't want to trip over anything?), so I consciously try to walk with my head up high, I think it links with our ancient ancestors being aware of our surroundings?
World Limbo Dancing Championships.....
it's a thing, honest! (I THINK)😂

Non HDL cholesterol--- 8.24 nmol/L

I have a lot of symptoms and from doing my own research I wanted to get my testosterone checked out. Doctor put me on a statin right away due to my cholesterol and triglycerides numbers and would not put me on TRT until it was all sorted out. I am two months onto a statin and been doing more researching and I’m quite confused on carnivore and my lab results etc. I don’t want to kill myself here lol. I was curious if anyone can decipher these lab numbers and give me some insight on how to go about all this.
In the Olympic sport of Luge you lean back. 😮
Lie back head up
Like ur suggestion
Children with autism are also slow to point at stuff. A toddler should start pointing at Stuff of Interest well before his or her first birthday. Good luck if your own little one cannot use that index finger…! 😮
Doc, (this is off topic to your video but) would you have any idea what might happen to your baby if you change your diet to ketogenic around 28 weeks pregnant (because of gestational diabetes), but at the same time, you are told (by your obestetrician, who is not familiar with keto diets) to take exogenous insulin because the fasting insulin levels would not come down under high 5 mmols?
non food book recommendation: How to teach your baby to read, by Dr.Glen Doman
I will check out that book, thanks!🙏
Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet :
I am now over 100 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else 400-500 g of cocked meat plus 7-8 eggs a day. Divided in 2 meals) I am now 34 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-20%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.(lift weigths to help sustain or increase muscle mass and assist fat loss)
I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition. I was a HEALHTY guy with NO chronic illnesses or health problems.
I lost about 15 lbs in the first 6 weeks (Mostly water) but since then I haven't been able to change my body composition. I have now gone more than 6 weeks without registering any body changes (weight loss, decrease in BF% or measurements)
I still need to lose at least another 15lbs of fat to reach my goal of being below 15%BF. However, I don't see how the Carnivora Diet will facilitate this process. I have not experienced most of the benefits common to Carnivores (Improved sleep, more energy/disposition, etc.) nor can I change my body composition.
So I would like to ask more experienced Carnivores:
1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnviroa diet to be able to lose the excess bodyfat I still have?(at least 15lbs of fat)
2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you?
Thank you for your attention
You need more fat, less protein. Eat fat to lose it. 200 grams of fat at least.
How did you came to the number(200g of fat) How can i add more fat ?@@sandrabentley8111
Sr Cywes,
Please do not have internal ad on every video.
Chess players lean in also.
😂I was taught to sit back sitting on my hands to not move too early
I would love to be great at this Keto lifestyle, but I am a horrible cook and so bored with my cooking. I have lost 50 pounds and done well on this eating. I am missing sugar. Gave up sugar June of 2023. I am feeling deprived. Nothing I eat lights me up like sugar.
it’s a drug (sugar) that food companies use to keep us hooked to their products.
How do you find salted butter?
So true,iv tripped but I'm back up now and feeling great, I needed this right now good timing 👏💪
@@egg399. I like it, but don’t mourn for it like I do sugar.
@@gailtaylor6488 Glad ai could help.
I’m 3 weeks in myself. I’m finding I just cook i know a frying pan 90% of the time. Roasting pan the other 10%z
BTW, well done on the weight loss. You’re an inspiration for me to keep going.

What about the sport of limbo stick.
Yeah, or (just joking of course) when you learn in gymnastics how to do a back bend, then a back walkover, then a back flip? 🤔
Crash and burn is often caused by cortisol level changes. Cortisol level changes are caused by staying too low too long. The length of time is pretty random but mood changes and temptation to cheat goes up and up until it can no longer be resisted. This is why opponents of low carb say we have mood problems.
If you cheat, that resets cortisol levels. Most who do that get a whoosh. It sets up a terrible loop of extrem low carb, crash, cheat, whoosh, restart.
The bigger risk is staying off the wagon for years.
Okay, so what to do? A carb intake like 70-80 net carb grams for a week probably puts you in your maintenance range. And it resets your cortisol. Without cravings!
If you have ever heard the term muscle confusion when lifting weights, this is like carb confusion for low carbing. Randomly changing your intake within a carefully educated range works better than staying at a fixed intake.
Plus it may be obvious that lower is better, but that's false. There are more hormone level changes than cortisol.
can you elaborate more on your experiences? how would a week of incorporating the carb confusion look like? I do agree that cortisol is something to watch out for and might be another reason why so many carnivores need to quit caffeine after being strict for so long (blaming plants again)
@@dryfastingclub With carb confusion you start with one of your Atkins thresholds. CCLL run around 50, top of loss range. CCLM run around 100, top of maintenance range. At the start of week 1 you spend that week at your quota. Call it 45 for loss, 80 for maintenance. At the start of week 2 you roll the dice to find your quota for that week. Do the arithmetic for that dice roll 0 to 50 or 50 to 100. That's your carb confusion quota that week. You can do another random for week 3 then repeat the cycle. Or you can repeat the cycle for week 3.
I used 20 to 50 and one die. 1 - 20, 2 - 25. 3 - 30. 4 - 35. 5 - 40. 6 - 45. During my loss phase. I had to figure this out so that was what I did in my year 4, 2003.
@@user-ic7xe7yi2y I like this concept - I probably won't be as 'anal' about #s but rather incorporate varying levels of keto friendly foods, a bit of strawberries one day, nothing the next, a bit of greek yoghurt the third etc
@@dryfastingclubLots of low carb veggies. I can't eat enough cauliflower to get up to my carb quota. I happen to prefer veggies to fruits so I typically add a small amount of carrots instead of a medium amount of berries.
One thing I do with berries is cook them down to jam. I don't add sugar so it's very tart. I happen to like that.
Eat more fat! This is a HIGH fat, moderate protein, low carb diet.
I fear failing. Want to reverse my diabetes. Not doing it…
JDI
@@robertcywes2966 JDI???
Oh, I get it! Just do it! Well it isn’t happening.
Your diabetes will continue to likely get worse and worse, increases in meds, skin issues, boils, blindness, etc. You have to really decide if you want to get sicker, or if you want to get you diabetes under control and live healthy. Believe me, i have to do this too, but im pre-diabetic. I can take control, or the diabetes will. Take a look at the "beat diabetes" youtube series, this guy is great, gives you good ideas, interviews, results about foods, and how to make some easy changes.
@@snowwhite2709 , I made that decision about a year ago and I have gone from 9.2 A1C to a 5.8. But I am not getting off my meds . I am so frustrated because I don’t know what else to do.
Only God will eat my diet
