Kalash People DNA Ethnicity Estimate

- This video shows the DNA results of a Kalash woman from Pakistan. The Kalash or Kalasha people are an ancient Indo-European speaking indigenous group with unique culture and traditions, living restrictively in the Hindu-Kush mountain range of present-day northern Pakistan. Due to their mysterious origin and fairer European complexion, the genetic history of this ethnic group has been investigated previously using different markers.

1:35 Interesting that "The Kalash population contains abundant South Asian paternal ancestry such as L and H, but the mitochondrial lineage is exclusively of West Eurasian origin". Sample had R0a. It still doesn't explain who they are.
The sample is a female
They contains haplogroup R1a too
Because the west eurasion women were traded into these tribes. Patrilocality was almost universally practiced until modern tjmes. Women were traded to other tribes and that’s how you get maternal west eurasion with paternal south asian.
It's pretty common knowledge that Kalash are mostly L & H paternally, but overwhelmingly steppe maternally.
It means that Zagros and AASI men of Indus Valley Civilization married steppe women and selected for lighter traits.

Baloch are 10-20% steppe mlba, negligible AASI and super high Zagros. Probably the highest Zagros in any population ever.
Based on the results, the Kalash people are not Greek.
I must say that I deeply respect Kalash people for them saving their original unique traditions and beautiful faith and not became Muslim like every surrounding them people(I’m not anti-Muslim but a lot of ancient cultural and religious practices in Asia was abandoned because of Islamic expansion) Among my Mongolian people although most adopted Buddhism, Paganism is still practiced, Mongols just like Kalash 1:23 also praise the spirits of nature, the Sky gods(99 Burkhans of Tengeri) and worship their ancestors, forefathers. We don’t believe in that Allmighty God concept which is found among Abrahamic religions.
In Turkiye, textbooks say in Tengri belief Tengri is also allmighty like Yahweh or other abrahamic gods. Is it true or bullshit?
The problem is: 'Who created?' not 'Who did it?'... Nowadays it's 'A la mode' to beat Muslim descendent of the Abrahamic religions after the fuss in Iraq, Libya, Old Yugoslavia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, etc. of religiously biased god dammed attacks.

In my opinion - Kalash are a native West Asian/Middle Eastern people that originated from Afghanistan and Northwest Pakistan, who over the centures mixed with Indo-European and South Asian peoples.
Kalash couldn't have originated before the arrival of Indo-Europeans since they got their language, culture and significant part of their genes from the Indo-Aryans.
The Kalash ethnogenesis is like any other group.
They are the end product of the peoples that have settled in those lands.
The main ones are
1. the Indo-Iranians who arrived in the Bronze Age
2. the farmers from the Iranian plateau(Dravidians) who arrived in the Neolithic age.
3. the Paleolithic people of south-central Asia, who were similar to the Indian Tribals.
That goes for all the ethnic groups in that region, whether they call themselves Pashtun, Nuristani, Punjab or Baloch.
No middle east
Lol nope. Kalash are IndoAryans, just like rest of the IndoAryans of South Asia. They follow an ancient form of Hinduism and have stayed isolated for a long time.

12% Scandinavian? From ancient Norwegian backpackers, maybe?
The Kalash are Indo-Iranians, the Indo-Iranians are peoples who originated in Central Asia and are closely related to the Steppe Indo-Europeans, modern Scandinavians have 50% steppe DNA
It doesn't mean they are literally descended from people who lived in norway, but that people who live in norway share a common ancestry with the kalash. it suggest that they are from the same steppe people who later on migrated in different directions, and the kalash intermingled with other very distinct populations along the way.
@@geraldsmithers9270 The Indo-Europeans of the steppes were very different from the WHG and EEF. Norwegians possess all three mixtures plus a residual uralic mixture. For example, steppe EHG was closer to Native Americans and West Siberians, whereas EEF was closer to West Asians.

You could classify it as “common-Indo-European”. Same goes if you see Celtic in seemingly unrelated populations.
Look up the path of the proto Yamnia (Indo-Europeans). From southern Russia west into Ukraine and Central Europe. Next they went north into Scandinavia. Then east into Poland, Belarus and eastern Russia between Ural mountains and Caspian Sea north of the Central Asian Steppe until the Alti mountains. Finally south thru the mountains and eastern Afghanistan into North Pakistan and the Indus Valley. That is very rough path and does not cover the path into the rest of Europe, Central Asia and others.

Indo-Europeans migrated to Asia from Southern Russia and Ukraine (the Yamnaya culture) Eastern Europeans also. It coincided with Alexander The Great's invasion of Asia and the Far East.
That is why they are different to neighbouring populations, their language and culture are different too. If you look at the colourful traditional Lithuanian/Ukranian dress etc you can see the similarities.
Obviously over the centuries they became isolated from Europe, many interbred with their neighbouring populations. The European blue eyes and fair skin still arise in their genes today.
Paganism was practiced in European culture long before Christianity.
Problem is that’s a completely unproven theory. According to DNA examination it’s vastly unlikely - no genetic link to the south-east of Europe could be detected. And the colorfulness os most likely a mere coincidence - it can be seen in a lot of traditional dresses all around the world. Imho geographical isolation is the key - there are even astonishing examples in Europe like the Rheto-Romans for that. Or take the Basques with their unique proto-european language noone knows its roots for sure.
@@luciustitius Its on Wikipedia. Yamnaya is a Russian adjective that means 'related to pits (yama)', as these people used to bury their dead in tumuli (kurgans) containing simple pit chambers.
Genetic studies have suggested that the people of the Yamnaya culture can be modelled as a genetic admixture between a population related to Eastern European Hunter-Gatherers (EHG) and people related to hunter-gatherers from the Caucasus (CHG) in roughly equal proportions, an ancestral component which is often named "Steppe ancestry", with additional admixture from Anatolian, Levantine, or Early European farmers Genetic studies also indicate that populations associated with the Corded Ware, Bell Beaker, Sintashta, and Andronovo cultures derived large parts of their ancestry from the Yamnaya or a closely related population.

They still worship their Ancient Greek Gods under different names.
What to do, when obfuscation is a better business than telling the simple truth?
The similarities between the religions is due to a common Prehistoric origin, and not due to some campaign of a short-lived empire. The religion shows great affinity with ancient (Vedic) Hinduism. Genetic research also rejects a Greek origin.
@@r.v.b.4153
Well, the Greeks have another opinion and organized for years now, trips. They go there to help them with their most basic needs, speak Greek with them and have seen that they are worshiping the same Ancient Greek deities under other names.
As for the genetics, well, those who make these tests said as well that the ancient Greeks are not genetically related to the modern ones. This is but a lie.
The Greek anthropologist Aris Poulianos made a study about the bodily proportions of ancient and modern Greeks. This is equivalent to a genetic test of far grater range than those test currently made, because, for every bone in the body there are big amounts of genes at work.
He discovered, scientifically proven, that the modern Greeks are as much Greeks as the ancient ones. They are their descendants.
As for the similarities with the Vedic religion, most probably the Hindus adopted it from the Greeks.
The similarities btw the religion of the Kalash and that of the Greeks has nothing to do with short lived empires. Empires come and go, but Greek culture goes back thousand of years in history and prehistory. As Plutarch inform us in his book "On the face which appears on the orb of the Moon", the Greeks were settled around he Gulf of Mexico 12'000ys ago as an established culture. So, we can assume they are much older than that even.
Your problem is, you didn't read the most important books on this subject but mostly academic hogwash.

Kalash people are pure indigenous ethnic Aryans. DNA racial studies are not an accurate discipline but nascent and easy to fix and manipulate data. While forensic genetics is extremely accurate thanks to the genius Kary Banks Mullis for this. The Aryan Race is indigenous to the Northwestern Indian subcontinent and touching Central Asia. It is where Rigvedic-Sanskrit and Avestan-Persian (almost identical) languages arose from a common proto-Aryan language. The language of the Kalash, Kashmiri language, Shina language, etc., Dardic languages are directly linked to this proto-Aryan language. Stop making these innocent people as Macedonians, Greeks, Albanians, etc. by fake planted data. Aryan mummies have been found close to this region which pre-date Alexander by several millennia. Also the world famous expert on this discipline and archeologist Viktor Ivanovich Sarianidi discovered an Aryan site not far from this region which again pre-dates Alexander by several millennia. In fact the region where this site was discovered had a large Aryan colony and later on non-Aryans namely the Turks moved into this region. Please see this video on U-Tube: Origin of the Aryan Race - Historical Facts and Evidence

No, they are of origin from the Andronovo culture of Central Asia, the Proto-Iranians were peoples from the Russian steppes who were related to the current Slavic peoples and the Yamnaya, the part of DNA that you interpret as Scandinavian is actually Andronovo DNA identical to Yamnaya, modern Scandinavians are the humans with the most DNA Yamnaya or ancient peoples of the Russian steppes
