This is yet another discovery for me. It is perfection, in the music, the transcription and the performance. Thank you, Víkingur, and bravissimo! 🎉😊❤🎵🎹
The greatest of human emotion embodied through restraint, technical mastery, sincere connection between musician and instrument, and a heartfelt longing to make ones playing rise harmoniously to the heavens. A transcendent performance rarely seen. Bravo!
Astonishing control that results in the most wonderful expressivity. I was able to sew him in Berlin in Apr 2023 un a programme of Mozart and contemporaries..live is even better !!!
When I listen to Vikingur, I am suddenly aware that the notes on a page of music are an almost desperate attempt to put on paper what can never be adequately expressed with pen and ink. Olafsson lets them sing unhindered
Utterly beautiful. What a gift to the world by both the composer & the pianist and surely a fitting example of the most noble aspects of human character. Thank you for this serene, timeless music we are so fortunate to be able to listen to.
Two little-known circumstances relating to this composition that is part of a larger lyrical tragedy, "Les Boréades": 1) was composed by Rameau at the ripe old age of 80, 2) after its first public performance in 1770, the complete work was performed publicly for the second time only in 1982.
Growing up overseas I learned that Deutche Grammaophone was a company that recorded serious musicians We had a few at home as my mother was lover of classical music. I began to listent to it in my teen years, first Ofenbach, then Gershwin's two best known pieces. In 1967 we went to Germany and I remember seeing DG recordings sold on the streets from racks or recordngs. That image has stayed in my mind all these years.
Excelente presentación artística y cultural, tiene una gran sensibilidad con el piano, muy agradecido por compartir su arte, su destreza y su alta capacidad dentro de la música clásica. Gracias.
Not enterely a great transcription of the original, but a good commercial job. A disappointing lack of dramatism and tenderness of the original. Viva Rameau 🇫🇷🇫🇷🌹🌹
What do you mean by "the original"? Listen to orchestral recordings of this part, and they're all completely different! And, in my opinion, Olafsson's interpretation is far more tender than many of the orchestral interpretations of Rameau's score. Also, drama and tenderness are somewhat opposites, no? Vikingur's interpretation is certainly not dramatic, but it is very tender. And I don't think Rameau intended the Entree to be dramatic anyway.
It is in line with the original from in Opera. In my opinion this is what makes this theme so “out of the box” and Rameau so worth listening to. It’s a bridge to the music to be…
He has deliberately used less ornamentation than you would expect in a Rameau piece, even if it was not for keyboard. Fewer ornaments would mean more pedal to fill out the sound.
Do you like to watch awards ceremonies?
Yes!!!!!
I only make time for the Academy Awards, but yes they can be enjoyable.
Is this performance in the Vienna Philharmonic Hall
@@yashbspianoandcompositions1042 No, Konzerthaus Berlin

Wunderschön, himmlisch und si gefühlvoll gespielt. Ich habe mir prompt die Partitur besorgt und übe die Rafinessen. Danke dafür
My god I love this transcription of Rameau
Yes praise God for this wonderful music all glory to Him!

Humanity's invitation to the Choir of Angels. Just like Saint Colombe, "Toutes les matins du Monde". Very special playing by Mr. Vikingur.
Beautiful, thank you for bringing this very special repertoire to a larger audience. I love all of the transcriptions.
I love Vikingur Olafsson! Beautiful and nice.

마음의 평화를 주는 너무멋진 연주
Ive heard of this piece as being one of the longest melodic lines. This playing brings that out. Wow
Damn, I wrote that about the Mozart that went before on this feed! The Rameau's great too.😢
Wirklich großartig und zu Recht ausgezeichnet!

Absolutely love Vikingur's transcription of this work. This live recording is as good as the CD! Would love to see him performing live 🌟

You should listen with your heart and not with with your mind
Mostly excellent and beautiful. However, I think it's a tiny bit too slow. This is Baroque, not Romantic music.

What a shame...much too much pedal...why?
He has deliberately used less ornamentation than you would expect in a Rameau piece, even if it was not for keyboard. Fewer ornaments would mean more pedal to fill out the sound.
Absurdly too slow. Not the piece.
just boring like all the same sounding pianists !
So beautiful. ❤❤❤
Thank you! 😊
