The Wharfedale Linton offers the pin-point imaging and detail of a standmount with a big, non-resonant cabinet for some real bass. Paired with a matching stand that doubles as a record rack, it's one of the most handsome speakers we sell. - Розваги
My first ever speakers were Wharfedale Lintons! Bought when I was a student from Comet in the UK in 1968 shortly after it opened for the first time.
I purchased these Wharfedales from Upscale last summer, and am still enjoying them. Great service! And thanks for the setup CD.
The lintons arrived today..........The 3 of us preferred the lintons over the B&W 800 d3 I kid you not.The lintons invite you to listen while the b&W drove me out of the room!!!! Detail at the expense or being able to relax isn't worth it....that's why the 800's are gone and the lintons are my preferred speaker.Giant killers!!!
Your audio store sounds awesome! It’s wonderful to deal with people that want to help you build a great system and you are treated like a valued customer before and after the sale! Thank you for renewing my faith in honest business practices, and the only place I would ever spend my hard earned money on audio equipment.
Im from the Uk and bought these speakers & set up today. They sound excellent. Respect to Upscale & if they local to you go for it.
I was lucky to hear a pair of these speakers at a local dealer in Birmingham UK, very impressive midrange clean top end not massive bass end but more than enough to boogie too, really well made cabinets, a really good solid pair of speakers, there a real must listen too.
They actually have impressive bass but it's not apparent, they just suprise you and suddenly hit hard
These speakers sound exeptonal for there price tag.. Kevin is a dude. keep em coming. always enjoy your reviews.
For the price tag I will expect them to sound more than exceptional.
Thank you so much for this amazing review sir, those speakers must sound amazing, greetings from Scotland😁🏴
Man I love your videos👍
If I lived in the states I'd never be out of your shop and yeah old skool style never goes out of fashion hehheh.
Keep up the good work.
Lovely to see some down to earth pricing here and it bet it sounds fabulous for the money too.
it sounds better than for the money I assure you!!!!
When you said "ish" it reminded me of MY audio sales days when we called this company Barfdale. Self explanatory. Hope the new ones are improved.
Can’t wait to hear these!
Mine are on the way....can't wait!!!!!
Glad someone gets the speaker:electronics price ratio right.
Real great review ! Tannoy CANTERBURY GR-OW, Heco Direkt Dreiklang, KEF speakers, Audes are also very good speakers !
They never fail to amaze, even after years of ownership.
I own and love the Wharfedale Jade 3's
Best boy. Best dealer in the world!
Greetings from Germany! Would love to work in yout store, it would perfectly match my taste and way of thinking.
Greetings from USA!
Love warfdale speakers always have and valve amps Kevin ain't lying they go great together i have dentons and tubes small room terrific sounds
its a real pity!!! why you are not in Barcelona!!???? I appreciate so much your way of communication and passion for music! regards from Barcelona!!
Kevin, when are you planning to open an Upscale Audio store in Europe? We canmot wait!!😀 Greetings from the Netherlands!
Kevin made me buy the Prima Luma dialogue premium pre-amp. haha. Now maybe this will be my next purchase. I love warm sounding and forgiving speaker such as this.
Love this guy!
For a moment i thought that the CHESTINESS matter would be omitted for once, but oh no ! Hahaha. Huge respect for Kevin and Upscale Audio, their dedication and energy for the hobby and actually lifestyle . But yeah, the Johnny Cash and chestiness thing is beyond repetitive, sorry, with all due respect but it is the truth !!! p.s The Linton's are fabulous and can perform much higher than their modest price tag suggest,if given the proper partners and all ! Few months ago I helped a friend of mine assemble a set up consisting of the Linton's , Musical Fidelity M5si, Denon DCD-2500NE, Arcam ST-60, IsoTek Evo3 Sigmas, Van den Hul and Iso Tek wiring and a pair of Rel T9i ! Oh yeah, it is mind blowing performance for the money ! Yes, the room is spacious, well proportioned and correctly treated and he is one happy owner and listener !
Hey , I've had these Lintons for a couple years. Very happy with them. The finish is unbelievably nice. It's 1972 all over, only better. Using a 35 watt Primaluna Prologue integrated. Very happy but I can tell they like the power put to them LOL.
They indeed love power! ;-)
@@Audiophilesdoteu They eat all the wattage you feed them.
@jerryjohnson4625 should I get the EVO 300 vs. the 200 for my Lintons?
@@jerryjohnson4625 No I should I pair them with a more powerful Primaluna than what u have? like a Primaluna evo 300 vs. 200 for more power?
Ohhh, I misunderstood. Thought you were talking about the wharfedale Evo speakers. Well , this is the amplifier I had when I bought the linton's. I've never heard them with anyting else powering them. I did have them hooked up momentarily to a Parasound solid state amp , honestly cannot remember the watts on
that amp , did not sound like the tube amp I use . I guess everything is subjective , but when I turn them on , I'm never saying to myself , I wish I had more power ! I have had the kt88 tubes in. Now back to the EL 34's. I like it louder but not are damaging loud ,you all know. I have always ran them with a sub. The Linton's brings them
To life. What are you powering yours with
?
does anyone know if these speakers will work with a vintage amp that's rated @75 wpc at 8ohms? I'm thinking about getting them to pair with a Sansui 9500
At 7:10 Kevin Deal says, "... You have got to be sure to put more money into speakers than you do in electronics. - If you buy $300 speakers and $10000 electronics, it's a $300 system."
Kevin, That is some truly excellent sage advice.
Wonder if the tweeter performance could be compared to the classic T27? What are the performance differences?
I'm loving this guy. No funny business.
One day, I'll visit your beautiful 10000 sq ft store. Big up from Blighty.
thumbs up when I heard the quaaludes reference!
I notice most of the amplifiers are rated as having 8 to 4 ohms impedance.
Is this adequate for these Linton speakers ?
HI, may i know you display this side speaker is on Right side speaker or Left side ?
I've got that PrimaLuna!! Amazing!!! I really like to buy these Lintons... nice price and looks.
Which PrimaLuna model is that?
Kevin mentioned the price. But not the model.

Thank you. Much appreciated.
How would these pair with a Marantz 2230 receiver and Mo-Fi Studio Deck turntable?
Hello, new to the channel. I have a very simple and old Rotel pre / stage (RC 970BX / RB 970BX) accompanied by a B&W DM620. Would these Wharfedale Linton give me a jump in sound quality or they are not worth it without changing the rest?
Thank you
Would these sound good with Leak 130 integrated amp?
Thank for this video! What do you think about pairing them with Pathos Logos Mk2? Will it lower its sound capabilities? It's currently paired with Audiovector QR3 and these speakers are just too small to fill my room with sound (especially mids). Are Lintons are going to be better or should I go with something coming from a higher-class?
Kevin makes credit cards talk! He's dangerous!
Kevin, you sir are a fucking legend! Quaaludes and chicks. Epic!!!!!
It took me 30 years to get rid them from the living room... AND YOU WANT THEM BACK IN ???
You are awesome! we demand you expand to Europe !
I love the e90 and e70 serie!
Getting focal 726 in same range plz suggest
A no BS review ... Thanks for that.
very very good video. I listening clasic rock and metal music and i wont to ask you...Wharfedale Linton or Wharfedale Diamond 11.5 ??? for best base and clear loud music ...thank yoy very much
Great review of the Linton's. Really interested in a speaker like that. Have been looking at Bryston Mini T's used for $1,400 or Philharmonic Audio BMR's used for $1200. Anyone heard all three yet?
MrRonnmaui - Skip the Brystons (aka Axiom Audios). Way overpriced.
Hi, what kind of speaker is better for you? Wharfedale Linton o JBL L82?
Keven, I bought a Arcam Sa 10 integrated partially due to your review. Are there any speakers that you would recommend paired with this amp? Currently have Elac unified first gen. But I’m not thrilled.
Can you compare the Lintons to the new JBL L100? or are the JBL in another league. I have one salesman telling me the Lintons are a better speaker all around. Thanks
Hi there, interested on how would these compare to the tannoy xt8f that you rated highly, as they are aboyt the same price bracket. Matched say with a Quad 909 or 606 power amp?
The xt8f's are $1,100 each.
I went for the wharfedales in Walnut, with stands. They sound just my taste. Fab. I combined them with audiolab 6000a, a great match! Should I try the speakers with the reisung baayu A10 tube amp too ?
I’ve got your very same amp and I’m considering the same speakers.. do they have any problem with positioning against walls? I’ve got 8 inches of maximum space behind my actual speaker and I’m worried it could not be enough for the lintons..
@@Iuglus I think they can manage that, but I use double that space and have them turned in a little because in my room they are pretty far away from eachother. So I can't call if it's enough. But the sound is amazing....
@@shackinup thanks!!
Would like to see the new Elysian 2 and maybe the 4 . . .?
Can I use a marantz 2252 with these being 4 ohms?
Hello,
Are they sound harshly in mids/treble ? Or are they more warm sounding speaker ?
They're warm. A bit bloated in the mid low and bass but they are so easy to listen for long periods.
They change character depending on the amp.
For my taste I would go for the hybrid amp he mentioned because I feel that when they're paired with tube amps they become just stunning for jazz or acoustic music but lose too much for rock, dance and what not.
Like they don't wanna keep up with the rhythm or something.
Hi Kevin. My Lintons sound hollow and weak in the bass region. I have to boost the bass setting on my amp to give it the weight I like, but even then the midbass is still weak, guitar bass lines are quite timid and ill- defined. Is it a characteristic of the speaker itself or something else?
I like this guy!
In 69 I bought a pair of dales and I missed the base but 3 years later I bought a pair of big pioneers they blended very well the pioneers lasted about 20 years the wharfdales lasted 45 years their gone now maybe I just found a replacement ....thanks
Wow! Linton! So what about sound of Linton Loudspeaker? I heard it have high frequency little harsh. I have Primaluna Dialogue Premium int (EL34) and ProAC Studio 118. And it didn't sound good. Many high frequency and little bass (yes, it have big punch, but havn't deep quite bass, that make deep sound). So I thing about rolling tubes, or throw away ProAC and buy different speaker (maybe Linton)? For example Yao Si Ting - Speak softly love sounding very bad. Voice go too high. Could somebody give advice? Thank you
Make sure you use the 4 ohm speaker tap. Common mistake. Small speakers have plusses and minuses. Or get a REL Sub. Call my store if you need help.
If the 4-ohm tap doesn’t do the trick for you, try a quad of matched KT88s for experimentation. They sound very different than EL34; I preferred the KT88s in my PL Prologue 5 amp, bass depth is better, more balanced sounding overall, IMO.
@Upscale Audio High Fidelity, or anyone who can answer this, which amps actually sounds better out of the Vincent SV-500 or the Musical Fidelity M2si? In Australia, the SV-500 is usually about $100 cheaper than M2si.
*crickets* :)
In your opinion, what would be the ideal size for Wharfedale Elysian 1 columns?
I was always around speakers as a kid and I instinctively knew not to push in the dust cap. If your kid pushes that in its a mental defect:)
I never pushed in dustcaps on good speakers, I did that to speakers from pocket radios
"Feel like getting a girl and some quaaludes and partying on..." Sold.
Far out and solid
ROFL
Crazy, I said the same thing!! Haha
Hi Kevin hope you are well.. what model is that Primaluna ? Thanks :)
It’s the EVO 100
How stable are these on there stands? Especially around kids?
I got a pair, they stand rock-solid.
Kevin needs to be ‘banned’. Each video makes you wanna buy! 😬
I called and emailed about package pricing for the Naim/Tannoy system I want, they don't "always" do package pricing on systems.
Kevin, is this a good match with Macintosh MA252? TY
Kef R3 vs these?
I wonder how new Lintons compare to the old school E 90s??
E series are better at all levels!
Can we hear the speakers please?
You are funny as hell, 714 man...
I'm going to say, not always the case. Although I am sure those Linton's sound world's better than the D310/320 (D310 sounds better BTW) hooked to a moded Nobsound 6P1 amplifier. Made me fall in n love with tubes. Now I cannot afford the Primaluna. If I could I would already have one, with my choice of speakers being a set of Klipsch KG4's or Heresy's.
Oh lord, I had Wharfedale Denton’s, Linton’s and then E70’s back in the seventies and eighties
So how would you compare Denton and Linton?
macarOOn more similar than different. The Dentons were bookshelf speakers with 2 drivers. Same woo finish and covers. The Linton, like these were 3 drivers and slightly taller. I had them in the late 70s and then moved onto the E70 which was a different beast completely. Then changed tack completely when I heard my first Naim system.
Robert Holloway so which did you enjoy more?)
@@agerhardt1 I have fond memories of both. The Denton's were my first speakers and will always hold a special place. The Linton's were a major upgrade.
Legend
I'm "real" curious of how they compare to the Heresy's.
I fuckin' love this shit
I've just bought a Marantz 2238B and i'm looking for some speakers, has anyone tried these with a Marantz?
Did you use them with the marantz?
Does he have polio?
U weird !
@2:02..."I'm not gonna name this Italian brand" *cough Sonus Faber cough*...
Ideally Wharfedale should launch an active version with streaming chops. Will be a solution for many music first audiophiles and also for 2nd setups for many audiophiles. Sometimes you just want to play your music and relax and not analyse too much.
I really respect your perspective but I have to say I rarely see systems where speakers cost more than the front end. Even in your video the prima luna cost more than the Linton and it's your preferred combo.
It's not an absolute number. A good PrimaLuna tube integrated is just over $2k. Other than that it's lower quality, and not a long-term purchase. Get an amp you can stay with.
all i know is ..ill buy them^^
The Lintons remind me of Polk Audio's Monitor Series, that did well back in the 80's (when Polk was a true high end, 'boutique' company). Google the Polk Audio Monitor 7, or even the Monitor 10 series, and tell me they don't look similar. I would be curious to compare the Lintons and my Polk Audio Monitor 10's. I'll be they sound very similar!
I had the monitor 10's. LOVED them, but l suffered from UPGRADE-ITIS.
Erm. Where's the review?
Quaaludes were a drug too good to be left on the market just like the Pinto carburetor that gave the Pinto 100 mpg and the NAD 3020 which were also were too good to be left on themarket.Dark forces were/are at work
Lol. Trust me they wouldn't remove them if they were good
I just ordered the Lintons. I'm a bit concerned and thinking of canceling the order. I've never seen so much disagreement about a speaker before in comments.
Kevin made me high by talking about his stoner days 🤣 Love his videos!
I remember qualudes and girls
'The other thing with Sandy
What often came in handy
Was slipping her a mandy
She didn't half go bandy'
The so-called "audiophile" magazines will tell you that $50k electronics and $300 speakers are the way to go.
Nice speaker weakness is lack of detail
I've had too many quality issues with products from China (I know, I know, iPhones are made in China. They are the exception)
What does China have to do with this video? Not sure I get the reference... Primaluna is USA and Wharfedale is UK? Or am I missing something?
Scot Slater Wharfedales are made in China
LOL Qualudes HAHAHAAHHA Awesome
“Review”
Its so funny that Americans always say BOOM!
You lost me on, not one but two, bass ports.
Girls and quaaludes.. now you’re talking😂
Play some music!!!!
Like any good car salesman he avoids the negative parts...like the crossover point at 630 Hz which is smack dead in the lower human voice range...precisely the artists he said he likes 😂😂😂
qualudes lol
