Man its really sad for marnie Parents were straight up just bad Neglecting her and stuff I mean i understand rich folks like to travel around and indulge in luxury But why not take marnie with them ?? And from what i think, (from the flashbacks and marnies description) Her father at least cared for her when she was little and nows he's indulged in work And her mother is probably cheating or not giving a damn about her family(like when she asked the nanny where is that child) The house maids and nanny were shitty And her child was a brat too Damn
If by happier you mean grimly soldiering on after the death of her husband and only child.... She loved her granddaughter - but she couldn't get over her daughters death, and it's not like she was in the best of health before her daughter left to begin with.
Yeah, i feel bad for them too. Cause if Marnie wouldn't be Anna's ahemm they would have been a perfect couple. I think that almost everyone shipped em. Even tought it's ghost like thing
Having read the book by Joan G Robinson, it makes me cringe that people shipped them. The whole point of the story, was for anna to finally feel like she had a family that loved her, so she belonged and could come out of her depression.
Marnie is Annas grandmother. Young Marnie is a ghost that wanted Anna to get to know her since she was too young to remember when Marine died and be a friend she needed
I didnt get the movie at first. In the beginning, I thought Anna might have had schizophrenia while Marnie had anxiety. The movie was beautifully done. The bigger question is why her late husband's family wasn't mentioned at all? We dk if Kazuhiko had siblings or not. They could have taken care of Anna. And Emily was barely mentioned after the revelation.
The 'young' Marnie in the film is basically Anna mentally recreating stories that her grandmother Marnie told her as a very young child before she died and Anna was sent to an orphanage. It's basically repressed memories that we can infer were agitated by seeing the marsh house mansion that was in the photograph she had as a little girl, as explained by her adoptive mother near the end of the film.
@@souilik2363 It's not a ghost. It's Anna's repressed memories of her grandmothers stories coming to life after she first sees the marsh house mansion. She had a photograph of the mansion when she came to live with her adoptive parents that she obsessively klept with her. She likely had also seen pictures of Marnie as a child in her house while she still lived with her.
Pathetic? The woman came from a broken home, then lost her husband shortly after having their child, and then lost that child years later after she left home prematurely. There really wasn't much else for her to suffer at that point.
Marnie wanted to break the cycle of child abandonment. Too bad she was not able to do that with Emily.
You could argue that she did in fact break the cycle. Not in the most preferable way but she never did really leave her
This movie makes me feel a kind of way I can't explain, it feels too familiar and yet so nostalgic, I love it it makes me so emotional.
