    I just bought an engraver to make some custom parts for one of my projects. The one I bought was an inexpensive 10W diode laser from xTool. After messing with is for 3 days, I already have my workflow form FreeCAD figured out and I quickly learned that I needed an air purifier it. $700 later and mow I'm thinking I should also get a fiber laser because I really do need something to engrave steel/aluminum (Create an indent deeper than 0.003"/0.08mm) and try to recover some of the cost. This unit is almost as easy to use as my Bambu labs X1C 3D printer. I think I am going to do some key chains and wooden model kits

      I'm considering a fibre laser myself - will see how we go with our initial offerings - I have to keep the number of offerings limited at this stage due to my time availability - hopefully that will change in the not too distant future :)

    Just got a cheaper 5W laser engraver off of marketplace and excited to try it. I am a woodworker and have made some furniture pieces and trays before. I am thinking to make and engrave monitor stands. What do you think about this product?

      @mrcraftsmith  20 днів тому

      Hi Sarah - a couple of questions I guess regarding the monitor stands - what designs do you have in mind? for both the monitor stands and engravings - are you planning on personalising with engravings? is there much market for that type of product in your area - or are you planning on shipping? you could start by making a couple for friends or family and share on your socials in local community groups and see what sort of feedback you get - I did a video about that type of "no sales marketing" here - ua-cam.com/video/pDfgrGE8X5E/v-deo.htmlsi=UW6dmuiBC-ikjeRJ - might be worth a shot :) let me know how you go

    New subscriber. I have a 10 w laser I am thinking of firing back up after a year of delving into CNC. I enjoy both. My personal goal is side hustle to make enough to pay for itself and enjoy making things without it turning into a ‘job’ if that makes sense. Thanks for the content

      Hey Kevin - I appreciate your comment and thank you - CNC is on my list to acquire and hopefully this project will help me work towards achieving that goal.

    A couple of things come to mind. 1. What type of laser(s) do you have and what are the power/speed ratings? This is the biggest variable in the "time is money" equation.
    2. Comparing "mass produced generic products" as opposed to custom made or customized/personalized products.
    We're looking at a couple of niche areas. Board game and RPG (role playing games, Dungeons and Dragons) players. Dice trays, coasters and other ancillary objects. We design games so that meshes well, we think. The second is engraving as a service for retail businesses like coffee shops, groomers and the like. Still in the startup phase but it's a plan. Can't wait to see how your S.H.E. goes (nice acronym right? 😂

      Excellent points - I will be covering those points in this series, this is kind of a learn as you go experiment, for me and the viewers - and i want to keep the videos more in bite size chunks - so thank you for the feedback, very much appreciated - and great acronym :D

    Very well presented. Thanks. Just do laser as a hobby and if you can find customers ok locally. Don’t expect to make money. Oversupply is a problem everywhere. Humans can make much more than they can consume. Enjoy life! 😊

      Thanks for tuning in - I think there is merit in what you say, I also think that people find enjoyment in many different ways and if I can combine my joy of something and it provides an incomme stream to achieve other life goals and pursuits, to me that's a win-win :)

    If this is a series.... I'm going to closely watch this. I have about 90% of the products you have mentioned (with a diode laser). Our problem is the marketing, so that's what I'm looking for.

      I'm excited at the prospect of what I will learn - and more importantly share the outcomes - marketing is a big one - so I have lots to learn there - ill make sure I double down on some content on the topic

    This video just hit the spot for me. +1 for sub and I’m in Australia too. I setup a side hustle but went quiet for a bit setting up machinery and prototyping. Recently got a 10w diode laser attached to my cnc machine. This series I think will really help me on my journey to launch products too. Fantastic delivery of the content too. Can’t wait!
