When I got my piercing the guy who pierced me said (after I asked about aftercare) "a rule of thumb is never but anything on your piercing that you wouldn't put in your eye"

If its crusty from leakage coming from the piercing itself rinse your mouth with salt water. You can also soak it in the salt water or use a Qtip dipped in it to clean around the area. The soaking will pull out any healing liquids.

My piercer told me coconut oil if you need to, it's antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. I put a little tiny bit of tea tree oil in it, but there's a lot of conflicting information on that so I'm doing it at my own risk and literally the smallest amount at that.

This was the most imformative video I saw so far regarding lip piercings. I want to get a snakebite -wich I will probably regret as soon as my emo phase ends - but I'll probably only be able to get it next spring, when I turn 18. My parents woudn't let me get one, so I guess I'll be a little brat and do something stupid on my own. I can't wait for it! :D
Never regret things because it was exactly what you wanted in that moment. My emo phase ended, but I got my lip pierced last week and i’m 24 🤷🏼♀️ none of that matters ☺️

Well.. That's a good age to get it done! I had my Emo/Scene days at 14 and 15 and I begged my mom to get snakebites done at 14 and she let me and cause I was too young it kept getting infected so I took one out like not even a year later and had one side for around a year. I am getting my lip redone in a few days :) (im almost 24) but hey everyone's experience is different u may keep em in for longer, you are older than when I had mine done.

I’ve been wanting to get my labret piercing maybe for over a year and I haven’t yet. This video is helpful, thank you. But I’m more concerned on the after stuff. I know people that have it and they said it never bother their gums and there’s people in the comments saying it was hard to eat and talk a day or so after bc of it getting stuck in their teeth or irritating their gums.
Jessica B I honestly think you should get it. It’s really pretty. I’ve had my Ashley or inverse vertical labret piercing for about two months now, and so far I haven’t had any problems with it. It’s really easy to clean as well. If you want to accentuate your lip, this is the piercing you should get.

@@jessicab3819 ik this is late and you’ve probably already got yours done but i got mine yesterday and its not really like in my mouth, idk if it should be but like its just on my lip. i did get a burger after lol, it wasn’t necessary hard to eat i just had to be more cautious and then i dont really remember what u said abt pain if anything at all, but its mainly just swelling for me atm. hope this helps!

Thanks so much, I couldn't get a straight answer from my piercer, I asked what gauge it was and he told me he didn't know but if I came in he would look at it and change it out for a shorter one because I was almost chipping my teeth and then when I was getting ready to go up to him the next day with 2 8mm bars I bought online that were 16 - 14g and he told me not to bother because it wasn't healed and I was just going to get an infection (he was annoyed I bought my own bars and didn't get one from him, but he also doesn't do shorter bars he only does the longer ones for healing)
Common sense just like the vid says. Gotta wait 3 to 4 weeks before changing it out or you could rip the inside thats healing an it could get infected. I also know from experience. Done mine myself at 16 an it got infected from swapping mine out just hrs after i done it. Id personally wait 4 weeks.

@@chifaunsmiley6563 well, swealing abt 2 weeks, pain at least 4, getting used to the piercing I'd say around 8 - 12 weeks depending on you, how long is the bar and how big are the balls? But the first 2 months are kinda painful overall, you can't eat a lot cuz it hurts and when it stops hurting you just bite the piercing all the time cuz you don't know how to eat with it.
Fun fact: the "piercing the tongue" itself hurts nothing at all.

4:17 aftercare
I did my vertical labret piercing 10 days now and it’s healing beautifully. I keep my hands away from it unless it’s washed, I use the saline solution up to 6 times per day and non alcohol mouth wash throughout the day also.
The first day I did it, I literally went out that same night ate drank, smoke weed 🤦♀️ luckily the next day I had no issues however I stopped the smoking, at least until it’s fully healed to be on the safe side. 😁 When the piercing is done right and you take care of it then the healing process will be great!!! 😇 oh I also use the q-tip to apply a tad of olive oil to moisturize my lips 👄 stay away from the pierced section because your lips will get dry that’s a must 😑. Also used the q-tip dipped in saline solution to clean any crust or anything around the rings balls. Hope my info helped somewhat! 😎
How is your piercing now?...I'm getting one on 27th of December and I'm kinda scared cuz I don't know anything about the pain or anything like that
@@justCinthy05 well I took it out actually it was done a bit thick. I didn't want to feel it when I close my lips, but anyway I loved the piercing and it was healing beautifully. He put this gel on it so I hardly felt anything. Pain was like 2 out of ten lol just the pinch of the clamp. You're gonna love your labret!!!!!😉😀😎
i got my vertical labret pierced on the 28th of december and it seems a bit crooked but i’m hoping it’s just swelling did this happen with any of you??
@@puccabee well, it waa slightly swollen but that was it. The swelling didn't last long at all just about two days and it was hardly visible I ate and everything just the same, except I used straws to drink. Hopefully when the swelling goes down if looks better though...😉

Hi, I'm going thru the same thing. I was told to get some Advil for the swelling.
I love my labret but man was it a bitch, but that was my own bodies fault. After two days with my piercing I was swelling over the backing. Went in got a longer one so when the month came around I got the post downsized. Ten minutes later I decided just to check the backing and I had already begun swelling again. Went back and again got another bar. So it's been about 5 weeks and I have 4 different posts of varying lengths
My lip has been swollen for several days thanks for letting me know this is normal and no drinking for a while

I know your comments from a few years ago but I just did my own labret piercing 2 days ago with a piercing kit I bought off Amazon. It went awesome and I love it. Barely painful at all but stings on the inside sometimes when I eat certain things. Do you still have yours??

I did my snakebites when i was 11 (my mother agreed to it, but only if i knew the potential risks and took good care of it)
I still have them today at age 24, never regretted it. Even upgraded to getting another lip piercing in the middle of the snakebites.

This was so helpful, thank you. I have recently repierced my labret after having it out for 6 years. It’s been 3 weeks, and recently I have been doing the sea salt soaks and wiping away the lymph that is accumulating around the outside of the piercing. Should I be doing this or letting it scab?
Also, do you continue with the sea salt rinse after food until it is totally healed?

I Finally got my lips pierced at 28 years old snakebites i love them! I've had them done now for 5 days ❤ they are super sore only the out side of my lips are very dry and crusty i do clean them with Saline spray and salt rinse after i eat each time the only down side is i have eczema on my face 🙃 so i wish i could put Vaseline around my lips so it doesn't hurt and pull. Sorry i suck at spelling just being honest 😅 😬

not the diy piercing 💀 well glad it healed and no infections came to be after all that swelling, maybe visit a local piercing shop and see if they can take a look at it 😬

Just got mine done. It’s was so fast and did not hurt AT ALL like 0/10 pain. After like 30 minutes it did start to sting a bit but that’s it. I love them and don’t regret it.

I had a labret piercing before but I encountered a problem. My lip is pretty big so I realized that my lip is gonna swell. (I noticed later tho) Three days later I noticed that my lip was swelling over my bar and I didn’t know what to do so I took it out. My labret my inside lip kept trying to heal over the flat back. Had to keep shoving the flat back through my inner lip.

Cat Faustus after having mine done twice I suggest to do a quick gargle at least. It doesn't have to be long but you don't want the food to stay in the hole for too long. On the outside I would recommend cleaning at least twice a day once in morning and once at night to keep dirt and stuff out. Also if you choose to use mouthwash make sure it has little to no alcohol cause you'll want some bacteria in so it can heal and grow resistant to the bacteria. Hope this helps.

Marissa Garza it’s normal. I had to swap mine out to a 1/2” just to have a super long one. But the embedding is normal
I'm sure I won't get an answer, but I got ,my labret done about 3 weeks ago. The flat disc has been digging into my inner lip. I had the same experience like 15 years ago when I had it pierced for the first time. I'm trying to just ride it out this time. But, it seems like the back of the the jewelry is keeping the wound from healing at this point. No matter what I do, it just keeps digging into my inner lip. I'd LOVE to change to a hoop, but they all say to not change anything for 8 weeks. I'm on week 4 and it's not getting better. I almost want to just take it out and say "fuck it".
So sorry to hear your trouble with your labret😓 Ouch ! sounds painful and we'd recommend going to your local piercing shop and having someone help you get it switched out asap
Hellooo! I’ve had my labet pierced for about a month now and the inside has a shit ton of scar tissue and I’ve been cleaning it every time I eat or anything! And haven’t been playing with it much so i dont know what’s wrong with it. Any idea on how to get rid of the scar tissue??

So nesting is fine? I don’t think I need a longer bar because I still have room but the flat back of my piercing is kind of sitting in my top lip, it’s not completely embedded, I just got my Medusa done like two days ago, this is my third. It’s not painful but I notice the top of the flat circle is farther under the skin than the bottom, not stuck or anything by any means and it’s not painful.
I got my medusa pierced in September and it's starting to build up extra skin/ scar tissue on the inside of my piercing. I'm wondering if you have any tips on how to get rid of the build up?
I had this problem when I got my septum done. So I found crushing cheap aspirin and some sea salt and make a paste and leave it there to dry out and crust away. Keep doing that daily till its gone
Bubbley is right. I make a similar paste with pure sea salt. Works wonders.

Um …. My piercer told me to clean around my lip piercing with hydrogen peroxide and I’ve been doing it and now I’m scared I’m not doing the right thing
I have 9 piercings and like he said salt water solution is definitely the best way to keep it clean. Mouthwash almost wrecked the skin inside my mouth but the salt water gave me no problems. I also haven't had any swelling and this lip piercing was done only 7 days ago.

I got mine done about a month ago and for the most part it's healed. However, I noticed a white ring forming inside the lip piercing. It doesn't hurt and it doesn't seem to be a keloid so I'm wondering if I should be concerned?

I just got mine done like 4 days ago and i'm worried it could be infected. It's red around it on the outside and very crusty. I haven't seen and pus and it doesn't really hurt but it is kind of scaring me. Does anybody have the same problem? Is it normal?
I just got snake bites yesterday and i contacted the people that did it cause the inside of my lip piece which is flat on the inside of my mouth was/is going inside my lip he told me this was do to swelling said i should suck on ice or use ibproufen to bring the swelling down...
I would like conformation/advice if this or true or what this may be or how i can treat it cause i don't wanna lose them

Just recently got snakebites too. The same thing happened to one of mine (honestly both had it but one was definitely worse) so my piercer told me to do the same as you, and if it didn’t help by the end of the day (he responded to my message earlyish the next morning) then to come in. It didn’t help so I did and he exchanged it for an even longer post (longer than most ppl ever need) and that helped a lot. It got caught on my teeth more but I learned how to talk and eat with it pretty easily and was worth it to not feel such pressure on it and be worried something was wrong
@@gabenichols8250 mine actually started to heal.. The swelling is almost gone so all i did was keep up on cleaning my mouth after I ate and once in the morning and night and sure enough it started to go down
Freckled TMAdvil helps a bit but I’m not much of a sweller I had both my tongue and my labret/Medusa pierced none of them swelled up but I would recommend Advil it helped with the pain

I just got mine Saturday is it normal for skin to grow over the flapback or do I need to go back to change it?
This was a hot minute ago but you want to go back. Think of it this way: if it's grown over, how are you gonna get it out? I've never had it happen but my brother had that happen with his left earlobe.
You should definitely go back and have it fixed. It'll hurt a bit but it'll feel better than if you left it like that in the long run ;-)

Hi there i just got my labret ashley piercing 2 days ago and i feel and looks like my piercing is going threw my inside lip its still swollen i know thats part of the process and today when i was drinking water the ball from my piercing from the inside fell off I cleaned it with water solution i called my piecer and told me to take some moltrin is that normal that my piercing from the inside of my lip looks like its going threw its my first lip ring and i just dont want to get an infection

Is it normal where the skin doesn't want to stretch or move around the piercing when you're doing normal movements? I'm hypothesizing it's cuz the scab is forming and it'll be a terrible pain if there's too much movement.

What about the “Ashley” piercing I have a like white kinda hard tissue on the side... it wasn’t there before it’s been 3 weeks since the piercing. It doesn’t hurt doesn’t look red or infected. Doesn’t look like a keloid. Is. This normal?
