    When I was a boy and my dad had watch over me. He'd put me down on my toddler couch. And he would look at his monitor and code. He would speak to me and had this nice calming voice. He would talk about computers and things he was doing. I would fall asleep to him talking. I'm older now and now he seeks my advice. I miss those nights where he had me. I miss my little couch and my little life.

    So refreshing review !
    I'm glad to hear someone who can speak properly and not a squeaky mouse voice like LTT.
    This is almost like meditation with content straight to the point .
    Why this Channel is not at the top of the UA-cam recommendation is beyond understanding.
    Keep up the great work 👍

    I agree. I've been following Johnny's channel for a while, and his reviews are completely different from the usual YT fare where tons of worthless information gathered by AI is spelled out at lightning speed without pause, not allowing the viewer to breathe and process it. This channel is superior to most tech reviews channels.

    I have this monitor too , I agree fully it's great.
    Also for the ppl that might find it to big...if I'm sitting up close at times , sometimes I go into the game mode settings of the monitor and go to display mode within it and resize the screen to 32 inch ... Because OLED have perfect blacks it borders are perfectly fine .
    It can support all monitor sizes that you wanna use it at .
    When I playing single player gamers or watching movies I do full screen instead .
    With Nvidia upscaling tech coming to chromo just now we can upscale all videos to 4k .. no need for even the tv ai features anymore from lg

    Bought this monitor 3 days ago. So far I have 10 hours on the monitor and so far burn in is slightly apparent. Apparently there is a power down sequence that you have to do. It’s greatly reduces the burn in until it’s practically unnoticeable. The troubling part is that it reduces it’s own life span when doing this…

    • @techpriest4787
      @techpriest4787 Рік тому +1

      Yeah but OLED naturally has a low life span hence the burn-in in the first place. This so-called burn-in is actually burn-out but too uneven hence it being so noticeable compared to other panel types. And all panel types have burn-out.

    So what benefit does this offer over the C2? As far as I could tell the C2 is cheaper, offers both a 42” & 48” option, while using a superior panel. The only downside I see if the lack of actual monitor OSD.

    • @fruitoverflow
      @fruitoverflow Рік тому

      It's the same panel

    • @kingdom1492
      @kingdom1492 Рік тому

      @@fruitoverflow No, they're not. It's not even possible as this monitor came out in 2021 a year before the C2 even launched. This monitor uses a WBGR subpixel layout vs the C2 uses an RWBG layout. This panel is similar to LG's C1 which also uses WBGR, but given its overall worse panel performance and LG's practice of not selling their flagship OLED Panels. It's likely this monitor's panel is from LG's 2019/2020 OLED generation used in the CX Models.

    • @kingdom1492
      @kingdom1492 Рік тому

      @@fruitoverflow I'm currently using a 42" C2 for my monitor, it's definitely a way better panel than almost all of the OLED monitors on the market. This makes sense given all of the OLED monitors outside of the brand new LG & Samsung Monitors use 1-2 generation older OLED Panels from LG. The only downside to the C2 is the 120hz, lack of monitor OSD, and no display port. On the other hand, you can find them on sale for $799-899 which 25-50% cheaper than other OLED Monitors.

    Thank you for your review. I am in the market for an upgrade to an OLED and your review certainly helped.
    However, I do wish reviews do more of a direct side by side comparison than on-paper comparison. For example, putting a G9 49 inch next to a 48 inch 4K OLED. Size and scale and picture quality can then be better assessed. Further, gamers today look for higher refresh rates e.g. 165Hz to 240Hz+. The 120Hz on this is very low compared to the 240Hz on the G9, Neo and the 45 inch LG Ultragear. It will be good to see if there is a significant user difference between the two rates.

    the HDMI 2.1 ports are limited to just 24 Gbps. This means to achieve 120Hz at 4K it needs DSC over HDMI, which causes limits for some devices like the PlayStation 5. That's a bit of a fail, not to offer the full 48Gbps unfortunately.

    Hey Johnny great video! So I am in the market for a new display to pair with my Mac Studio purchase that I have ordered and after watching your previous video on the AW3423DW I just couldn't pull the trigger on buying due to the text clarity I have heard and also the brightness levels being a bit low. Now after watching this video on this monitor, would you say this would be a better monitor for gaming or would you stick with the AW3423DW for that? I do gaming and also do watch videos like this and also some light productivity work. I do understand windows PCs are better suited for gaming but I much prefer Mac OS to windows and I ONLY play World of Warcraft for my game which conveniently is a Native Apple Silicon game so it runs very well. Just trying to get more thoughts from you on this. I do play WoW quite a bit and Im currently on a 27 5k iMac so I am used to the "retina" 5k levels of clarity which I know would be a downgrade going to either one of these monitors but I'm sure its still more than sharp enough to satisfy my needs. Appreciate any feedback and as always keep up the great videos!

    I agree that color consistency is a compelling justification, but I think you're still losing something going from several smaller 4k monitors to a single larger 4k monitor. Sure, a single 48" 4k is equivalent to four 24" 2k monitors, but I'd suggest you'd need a 48" 8k panel to get the same real estate as four 24" 4k monitors. Pixel count is a thing.
