The ABL is broken on the Alienware at Peak 1000. Where there is more white on the screen it gets dimmer than the True Black. However in dark games and videos Peak 1000 has amazing highlights.

The C2 looked blue in comparison to the 3225

Bought the alienware one, not happy about it. There is serious flickering when gsync was enabled which made me turn it off. After that, even when watching Netflix and youtube videos, there is still occasional flickering which made me to lower the refresh rate to 60 Hz. Now the monitor seems to be working perfectly for me after these adjustments, the color is stunning with 4k HDR on.

qdoled is too warm, not sure why people dont ever point that out? I checked with my ceiling light 6500k and the color temps of the qdoled is 10% hotter.

I just got the AW3423DWF, oh boy the picture quaility is out of this world. The blacks, the dynamic range, the response times (it all looks so clean all the time). It probably enhances your games more than going from a last gen pc (like my own RTX3080, Ryzen 5600 combination) to the fastest pc one can buy today. I feel i have turned the clock at least 5 years ahead in terms of graphical fidelity with this screen.

Did you say that the 30" Apple Monitor works with the M1 chip?

As much as i want this, i can get a brand new 34 OLED Odyssey OLED G8 for $800 vs this $1700. Not too much of a difference other than a few hz. Would you agree its smarter for me to get the G8 since its way cheaper and can provide damn near same results or do you think the Asus does more than just the extra hz.

Hi, first thanks for your review! Here's my experience with a fair warning: I switched from a PG32UQX to this monitor and while I do appreciate the lack of haloing and such I have to say that I'm rather disappointed with the very aggressive ABL (Automatic Brightness Limiter) in the Peak 1000 modes. So much so that games like Assassin's Creed Origins, which absolutely shined on the PG32UQX, look awfully washed out on the PG32UCDM!!! Also highlights can clip quite hard in the "Gaming HDR" and "Cinema HDR" modes. "Console HDR" on the other hand crushes blacks slightly and doesn't pop as much. "DisplayHDR 400 True Black" has acceptable (for OLED) ABL but maxes out at around 450 nits. It is quite game dependent and I generally prefer "Gaming HDR" for that HDR pop but I hope that a firmware update can do something about the negative luminance accuracy. There is a good article explaining the issue here: tftcentral.co.uk/articles/testing-hdr400-true-black-and-peak-1000-mode-brightness-on-new-oled-monitors So all-in-all be warned that you might be let down if you're coming from a super-bright Mini-LED display (with it's own set of issues) which can do 1000-1200 nits of full screen brightness to this monitor which can do 250 nits tops and the Peak 1000 modes only around 120 (it's more complex than that though, as it's the worst with mid-greys).

Asus is known for their monitor calibration look at their proart with the delta e less than 1. But the delta e is less than 2. This is sad what is happening with their warrenty as they used to have the best warrenty in the industry. I would not be surprised if they contracted it to a 3rd party.

I already have the 5Ds, I do a lot of bird photography and the moire resistance at Pixel level with feathers is a winner. The ergonomics on a long shoot make a big difference to me, so the 5D wins there. The 5ds weight means I can hand hold my 85mm 1.2 (no IS) at 1/50 all day. But! low light shooting is not so much fun, still good, very good but noise is creeping in at iso 3200 and lifting detail from shadows is not as good as the others. The R5 is a beast, only the ergonomics with smaller body and dials is an issue and I noticeably get a tired hand after a time. The A/F is amazing, nothing to add to that it's near perfect, which is the single most important feature. The R I haven't used but I guess it's a very good travel camera with it's light weight, but beyond that for what I do has reached a limit. I have always liked the image quality and colours from the 5Ds and it's better than the R5 in good light. With all the above said and not having the R, the body I always tend to pick up first is the 5Ds.

I was looking at buying a M2 mini, but with at least a 16/512 (€1179) or 24/512 (€1409] configuration, just to be a bit more futureproof. But ended up buying a used base model M1 Max Mac Studio (32/512 for €1300] More CPU/GPU processors and more internal memory.😎

Hi Johnny, I am not sure why the ACD 30" is not working for you on the M3 MBP. I have the display hooked to a 14” M3 Max MBP using the Club3D adapter and it works perfectly fine :) But good to see that you found a work around that can help other people that are running into the same issue.

ASUS has absolutely deplorable customer service. For this reason, I went with Alienware instead! The Gamers Nexus report on them is the tip of the iceberg!

Hi Johnny, have a question for this amazing monitor . Does the pixel Cleaning reminder shows up need to use necessary everytime? Because quite some not understanding this pixel Cleaning is how to use and i hear if use to much it will reduce monitor life spam, is it true?

Are both LG and AW3225QF calibrated to a D 65 color temperature ? If you have CALMAN, you should be able to calibrate the LG automatically. It seems like the LG has a cooler color temperatur. If you choose Cinema mode on LGC2, you should be at D65. Also, when you are shooting the comparison, which HDR mode are you on for both devices? if you are playing Dolby Vision content then you have to make sure that both units are calibrated at the D65 in Dolby Vision Cinema mode or Dolby Vision Dark. The alienware red color seems to be orange. It doesn’t really hit the P3 color however looks a lot deeper red and it appears to be more accurate than the Alienware. Do you have DEITP or DE2K?

I have a positive experience with Asus warranty, so that balances out Gamers Nexus' experience, right? I mean, with most companies these things can be hit or miss, depending on the location handling your actual warranty. Some are good, some are bad. I hope Asus can improve this across the board.
