    I just bought the Kregg, finished two of these covers, and they came out GREAT! My wife couldn’t believe how well they came out, and it keeps my young kids away from the radiators. Thank you for the phenomenal instruction, I am definitely going to be doing more woodworking now!

    Nice work. Always nice to see your projects.
    So, what do you think of the 590 now? I've been eyeing them off for a big painting job (tin roof) as well as general household paint and decking oil application, and debating about maybe going for the one that goes straight onto the paint bucket instead.
    Any feedback from your perspective?

    Nice video, you make it look easy! I have a radiator cover with detachable top. In winter it gets bent from the heat even though it is not that close to the radiator. This time I put piece of wood directly on the radiator as a barrier so the to exterior top cover does not bent, but it is starting to bend, any suggestion would be very helpful . thanks

    If you know anything about these radiators sitting right underneath the window, you know that kids are gonna jump on it and adults are gonna use it as a seat (especially in the winter), what can be done to make the wooden cover stronger so it can hold someone sitting on it?

    HandyDad lol, nice video thank you. And thanks for taking the time to reply to posts. My question is, did you do any shaping on the back of the end walls so that it fit tightly up against the wall since it appears there is baseboard? If so how did you accomplish? I'm thinking you scribed them in place then put cover on its side using a jig saw to cut the outline of the base board?

    • @handydadtv

    I'm looking to make a radiator cover for a recessed hot water heater in our bathroom. Can I still use wood for the frame or is there something else you recommend? What did you use to attach the sheet metal? How would you recommend attaching multiple sheets of the type of metal you used to each other if needed? I'd like to make ours more of a flush mount since it's a recessed unit. Can you help please? I've never built anything before so would really appreciate guidance!

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  2 роки тому

      If it’s recessed, a slotted closet door would make the most sense. No?
      Unless it’s an odd size, and then you’d need to build something custom. If that’s the case, I would use wood for a frame because I’m most comfortable working with wood. The sheet metal is great for ventilation. I just stapled it on the back of the frame.

    • @handydadtv

    Great video. I just made one myself but have one question. I have baseboard trims and my cover won't stand flash against the wall. Did you scribe the lower portion of the legs of the cover so that the cover is flash against the wall and there is no gap between the cover and the wall?

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  3 роки тому +1

      No, I didn’t scribe it to fit tight against the wall. I purposely wanted air flow. I just pushed the top against the wall before marking and attaching it.

    One mistake you made was not clamping the pieces down before driving in the screws. Thus, all of them ended out of alignment, as you can see at 7:28. It's always worth spending a few more minutes clamping before every pocket hole joint rather than ending up with a mediocre result or spending 3 times the amount of time sanding afterwards, if you really want them flush.
