  • This is my trip to Ship Island off the coast of Gulf Port, Mississippi in July 2022. This visit was done through Ship Island Excursions. We saw many Dolphins and other wildlife on the boat ride to the island. We first explored Fort Massachusetts which was built during the Civil War era. Some military actions also took place on this island during the War of 1812. Next I enjoyed the beach by checking out fish, drinking seltzer and beer, boogie boarding, and eating at the snack shack. Finally, I took the ferry back to Gulfport and went to the neighboring city of Pass Christian and ate at Shaggy's Pass Harbor location to enjoy a Po'boy, a cocktail, and some shrimp dip. This is the final video from my New Orleans trip that took place in June and July of 2022. This was also my favorite day of the entire trip. I'd love to return to this island someday.

I love going to Ship Island. Already been once this summer and hope to go again.

Yeah it's a wonderful place. Very jealous that you get to go more than once in a summer. I live too far away to make return visits all that accessible, but I very much plan to one day.

I used to hang out on ship island back in the early 1980s when I lived in Biloxi, what a beautiful island. Thanks for the memories

I live in Gulfport now I would love to visit Ship Island but after watching this, the walking distance to the beach may be more than I am capable of.

I would estimate it is somewhere between a quarter and a half mile from the pier to the beach. Maybe they have wheelchairs available? Or perhaps you'd be able to bring one onto the ship?

If you take the Ship Island Excursion ferry from Gulfport harbor you can bring a wheelchair, walker, cane or whatever you need to walk on the pier. Don’t let something like that keep you from visiting Ship Island.

I went there years ago. I wanna say mid 2000’s & from everything I remembered, it looks the same. The fort, the beach, & even looks like it might be the same exact boat

@@rollercoastermotor1665 I’d definitely go back. I’ve been wanting to go back since then just never have. That place is cool & I think it flies under the radar compared to other places in the gulf coast

@@shooterridge Absolutely. I agree 100%. I'd love to go back here. The entire gulf coast region is beautiful. I really enjoyed how quiet and peaceful this place was.

The "lox" in Biloxi is pronounced "lux" as in luxury.

I see the no feeding birds signs, that used to be a highlight of the boat ride the seagulls would catch popcorn right over your head and even out of your hand 😂 if you're not from this area you really need to explore the Florida pan handle the water is much clearer,Even a clear river in the central area.

Absolutely. I would love to explore the pan handle someday. Anywhere in particular you recommend?

@@rollercoastermotor1665Anywhere in Florida is nice. Water is crystal clear and sands are soft like sugar. You could visit Pensacola and Destin. Those two places are famous for tourists. You could visit Navarre Beach if you want a little less people. Orange Beach Alabama is also nice.

Gulf is what she meant I believe. It isn't an ocean but the Gulf of Mexico. To be precise everything north of the barrier islands is the Mississippi Sound.

What a butthead. Always someone leaving a rude comment just for the hell of it. There is nothing “gross” about anything in this video. If you’re referring to the water being a brown color, the barrier islands are the reason the Mississippi Sound north of the barrier islands has that color. If there were no islands our water would look just as good as Florida & Alabama water. Get a life.
