Connor Gilkinson appreciate this video this videocrappa told me the chorus can't slow motion if i see this video b4 i wud prove him dam wrong he spoil my video and get paid him not gonna get a way with it bcz i know i saw a lot of video slomotion
The equation to find out what to change your video speed to is 10,000 divided by song speed percentage. -150% song speed, 10,000 divided by 150 = 66.66666667% = slow video to 66.666666667% -200% song speed, slow video to 50% etc.. A channel called SinusStudios taught me that equation!
Hey thanks man! Using this technique for a music video we have in NYC. But I know my Sony doesn’t shoot 48fps but does shoot in 60 & 120FPS. Gonna try this out! Thank you so much
Wow, thank you! this was really helpful!! I'm an amateur videographer want to learn how to make slo motion/lip sync music videos, and this is the method I want to fully understand w/out getting overwhelmed lol Also, I wanted to ask if this same method could work when using Capcut? I don't use Premier Pro unfortunately 😅
Really bro you explained very nicely, there are lots of videos where they are not showing the full method only they are showing shooting part. really appreciate you for making easy tutorial for the people and too me also. nice to meet you.
FOR ALL SONY A7III USERS! I SPED UP THE SONG TO 150% THEN SLOWED IT DOWN TO 83.4-83.5. THEN I MATCHED THE SLOWED DOWN VERSION WITH THE ORGINAL SONG AN IT WORKED. THE SWEET SPOT IS BETWEEN 80-90% I HOPE THIS HELPS.
Nice, and thank you for the tutorial! If I filmed a video sped up to 150%, what do I need to slow it down to to sync with the original song. Having a math block.
@@PeteRoulston1978 I believe the last time I did it at 150% performance I slowed it down to 66.6-66.7 and nailed it. Let me know if it works cuz I'm about to do the same in the next few days

Connor... Main music video shot at 30fps. Music sped up to 125% and shot at 60fps for slomo effect. I'm having a hard time matching it up in post. I have the shots marked with a countdown at the beginning and end. What is the correct percentage to change it to, having started from 125% and not 200%? Thank you.
If the music is a bit fast , can I speed up the songs like 150% and film with 60fps , But when i edit the video ,what speed i need to slow down to match the Original songs ?
Hi, need some help.. Im shooting a videoclip with a friend. I can't find the correct way of the speed in the song with fps! If i shoot in 120fps song speed should be 500%? thats crazy! its very fast! I its too fast for the singer. Can you help me?
Well, that's kind of just how it works, unfortunately. The higher the framerate the faster they need to perform in order for the footage to sync up when you slow it down to 24fps. You're limited by how fast a human can perform the song, physically. For some slow, sparse songs, you may have no problem having them perform it at 500%, but for the average song 200-300 is going to be the upper limit. I guess the bigger question here is: why do you need to shoot it at 120fps? Why is the slow motion of say, 60fps or even 96fps not enough?
Then that’s your problem, not the frame rate but the song being normal speed. It’ll have to be sped up and you’ll need them to perform it faster in order for the effect to work. Otherwise when you slow the footage down it won’t be in sync with the original track. I hope that makes sense.
Just working this out for a shoot and if the track is 200% and im at 60fps im a bit lost as to how to treat the footage in post as just dropping it back by half will leave it out of sync if im thinking right??
Good question! I touched on it at 2:48 but I'll elaborate. The frame rate is completely irrelevant when it comes to speed. Let's say you film your vocalist singing along to a version of the song that's at 200% speed. Whether you film in 24fps or 1000fps if you play back the raw file (meaning NOT slowed down yet) those clips will both play back in real time, and they'll be the same length as a result. The ONLY difference is that in that SAME AMOUNT OF TIME there are more frames being captured by the camera. That's it. As a result, you can slow both clips down by 50% and again, they'll still be the same length, they'll be in sync with your original version of the track. With me so far? Now, if we're working with a 24fps timeline in Premiere, Premiere will "force" all footage to be 24fps. If I drop in a 30 fps clip into a 24fps timeline Premiere will not slow that clip down. Instead, it will simply omit some of the frames so it still plays back in real time. Premiere won't slow down a clip unless you tell it to, otherwise, it will simply remove the extra frames, for lack of better terminology. If you shoot 60fps and slow it down by 50% your song will be back at 100%, and your clip will play back IN SYNC, the only catch is that it half speed would be 30fps, but don't worry, it's "removing/smoothing" those extra 6 frames to make it fit the 24fps timeline. This is what's happening in the footage I used here, from what I remember.
I need to know how to sync the audio to the video when the video has been slowed down or sped up. I have a video which has been sped up at certain points with a voice over. I need to slow it down to normal speed and keep the audio in sync to it.
Gotcha! There's a couple different ways to do this. Let's say I sped up a song 200% for my slow-mo shot, when I bring the video into Premiere I'll take the audio it's supposed to line up to and simply speed that up by 200% as well. This makes it way easier to line up, and then all I have to do is set both of them to 100% speed again and we're set! Does that answer your question? If not, just let me know and we'll work this out together.
Thanks for responding! Maybe i wasn't clear enough in my comment. I got a video that has been sped up at certain parts. It goes from normal speed to fast for a few seconds, and then goes back to normal, and so on. What i need to do is slow down those parts to normal speed, but keep the audio in sync. For example: if i take that sped up sequence which lasts 30 seconds, and i slow it down let's say to 50%, then it will go from 30 seconds to 60 seconds, but the the audio will still be in 30 seconds, so i need to sync it to that sequence, you know what i mean? It's hard for me to explain something that is so technical in a language that is not my own. I hope i made myself clear this time. Thank you!!
Hmmm, that's a tough one. So you have a single clip where some parts are sped up, and some that are normal speed. All you need to do is modify the speed of the parts that are sped up while keeping the other parts at their same speed? If that's the case, you might want to look at speed ramping. This will allow you to set markers on a clip and speed up/slow down sections of it as necessary, rather than having the ENTIRE clip sped up or slowed down. It's a tricky thing to understand over text, but if you want you're welcome to send me a link to the clip and I could maybe get a better idea of what you're working with that way.
Connor Gilkinson would be better via video chat. Lol. But basically, are you putting your sequence settings at 24fps? And depending on the song, you may not be able to play the whole clip through with the song without adjusting it or putting it in pieces, correct?
@@HEIR.BRANDON Yes, my sequence is at 24fps. Not sure what you mean, why would you not be able to play the whole clip? Also, see the reply I just typed for Nik Bryant, it covers things in more detail about timing and FPS, it should help you a ton! :)
Connor Gilkinson correct! And instead of playing it back the whole clip, I’m having to break it up into multiples so it can line up with song. But I will definitely check him out!
@@HEIR.BRANDON It sounds like you haven't found the right speed in editing to make sure it lines up properly then. But hey, if breaking it up is more time efficient and it still looks good then that's all that matters!
