If external examiners are provided with hand mikes it will be better to hear their questions in a more clear way.
Nadigar Thilagam was a greatly gifted actor with exceptional talent. His acting sometimes crossed the heights and became overacting not because of his fault. It was mainly because his directors were reluctant to adversely comment and correct any overacting. Naturally when there is no objective arrest the acting became overacting. This is well exemplified by his superb acting in "Muthal Mariathai " where Bharathirajah without any hesitation constructively controlled his performance and produced an excellent award winning film so late in Nadigar Thilagam's carrier.
Acting is overacting. Nowadays no action only reaction and murmur.
To: Mr. RANJAN FERNANDO : First of all, I feel glad and thank you for your heartfelt Appreciation for Dr. Sivaji Ganesan. But, please bear with me to slightly differ from your other views such as Overacting, controlled acting, awards, etc. Things like Natural acting/controlled acting were not at all new for Sivaji, and it was a child's play for him since a long time in his career and done long back, well before the arrival of Bharathiraaja and other directors. Acting has many facets. It is said that while shootings, sometimes Sivaji used to display his skill by acting in Six different ways for the same scene ! It is not that he did not perform as in Mudhal Mariayadhai in his earlier films. Many old movies stand as examples. In fact, Sivaji only could do the so-called natural acting more precisely and in more
subtle ways than anybody ! He had/has different kinds of fans and he had to satisfy all of them. He was like a very huge Library/University. He himself once said that he is giving whatever people at large expect from him at different times. Concerning awards, we should not forget that Sivaji was the very first Indian actor to get an Award and recognition at International level, way back in 1960 itself, that too just within 8 years of his entering into filmdom ! Once veteran producer S.S.Vasan said that Cinema may be viewed beyond Realism and so Acting too. My humble views as my reply to your comments are as follows : In fact, that (say free acting) is only difficult to perform than natural/realistic/controlled acting ! That only needs vast imagination. Acting is an Art. We cannot fix any boundaries for Acting as to conclude that this is the limit or final. Acting itself is against realism and an exaggerated version. Anyhow, I agree that taste differs from person to person. My point is, even in that way, Sivaji excelled than others, if situation demanded. I wish to conclude that veteran Bharathiraja once told that many directors like him came to filmdom considering Sivaji only as Guru and it was every director's dream to work with Sivaji, atleast in one film. He also hailed Sivaji as the only Authority and described him like God for Spoken Tamizh ! It is 100% true that Sivaji upheld the richness of our Tamizh, concerning correct pronunciation/modulation/tone and flow continuously as a river. Regards. V.GIRIPRASAD (69 Years)

@@vgiriprasad7212 I agree with all what you said about Sivaji Ganeshan who had been my Hero! Even today I can watch again and again films like, Paasamalar, Bagapirivinai and Padikaatha methai and choke with emotions while tears stream down! His acting had always been powerful and moving! But there are a number of films where he could have done better if the directors had been objective and guided Sivaji! I sometimes felt that it was a disservice to the great man!

Sivaji is a great actor-- no comparison to him but he missed so many dignitary awards due to his over acting.
Actors who does not know acting received great awards because there is politics behind it in India.But foreigners dose not do so. That is why Chevaliye award was conferred to Sivaji. And so Asia & Afro award in Egybth .Monotonous and stereo type acting in fantasy films fighting,loving heroins who come from a rich family are accepted by most of the people. They never like family subjects like sister & brother ,father & son,mother & son relationship. This is the past & present trend in Tamil nadu.

On one hand you say Sivaji is a great actor and then you say he missed dignitary awards due to his over acting. Acting itself is exaggeration. Please refer to Wikipedia which decribes
acting. " Acting involves a broad range of skills, including a well-developed imagination, emotional facility, physical expressivity, vocal projection, clarity of speech, and the ability to interpret drama. Acting also demands an ability to employ dialects, accents, improvisation, observation and emulation, mime, and stage combat." This is what Nadigar Thilagam was adopting and the audience accepted it and enjoyed his acting. It is only those who envy, labelled him as over acting. It is a sad state of affair that India did not give him any national award but France awarded him the "Chevaliar" award.

There is no over acting. Reason is nothing but politics. Chevalier award was given after thorough analysis/research by 25 genius from all over the world. This chevalier is supposed to be the highest in chevalier award. He got so may due recognition not from local politics.
radha krishnan. Sir, At first various video clipings from so many films were screened before the Chevalie award Committee members by Paris Jamal , president of "Paris Tamil sangam". The committee members never accepted that various characters were acted by one person and said that those characters were acted buy various persons. At last they compared the characters with aid of computer and accepted all characters were done by Sivaji. They were astonished to witness them. Paris Jamal himself revealed this in an interview.
