- In today's video I start off with a bit of a walk on the land and setting up a new trail camera i got although I find evidence of even more deer without setting it up. I'm then on to testing day.
Grass is looking good. The cattle are in great shape best of for the tb test hope everything goes well 👍
Hi Karen fingers crossed with TB and hope they are all clear X
With your fence, you could try using the loader on your tractor to push the fence posts in the ground, would be easier than knocking them in great vid.
Well done for all your hard work Karen and thanks for sharing the video. Good luck with the testing results. Best wishes.

Karen, beautiful footage of stream, very peaceful the sound of running water, grass doing great! Praying for you for peace of mind regarding TB test on cattle!
Looking forward to trail camera pictures!
Hi Karen,
Good luck with the test, my dad always looks at lumps on the neck but when he talks to me about them I cut him off as no point in worrying there is absolutely nothing in the world can be done either they have it or they don't.
You are right!
if you put ice on the lump would it go down ??
Fingers crossed Karen 🤞, good luck with the test. Safe journey.
Hi,
If you dont mind answering - what is the name of the music with the harmonica? Thank you!!
It just an unlicensed sound in the editing app I use to be honest and it's just called harmonica country rock
Another great video. Best of luck on Friday
Hope they get a clear test result. Cattle are in tip top shape.👌
Hate Deere with fences have the same problem
Hope this test goes well 🤞🤞
Good luck and a great video again. Thanks.
About 4 foot or 5 foot there should be a strap with that
I show you my one instadle tomorrow good night
Good luck with test reading, the camera footage should be interesting.
I feel like you touched on it in a previous vid, but are there any measures for farmers or general public to help manage wild life?
Lovely cattle you have and they are in great condition. Hope test is clear.
good luck for friday karen they will all be clear
Gorgeous scenery
hope they all past the TB test fingers crossed
Good luck and god bless from up above in the Nort lol. Happy New year to you all.
Best of luck with the test. I'm on your side
Karen you should have set up your camera at the cattle crush and show up what the two legged DEER was doing and let the taxpayers see where there 150 million euro goes too every year. i bet you were told to turn your camera off because they don't want anyone to see what goes on ??
I wasn't told to turn anything off and I have absolutely no issue with my vet, I've said that before. There's bad apples in every profession but to think every vet in the country is spreading TB is a little naive in my opinion. The issue is there is no control over the wildlife that are spreading it and the failure of the "TB Eradication" programme and that is where people's frustration should be aimed rather than towards the vets
I suffer a lot of deer damage on my property (not far away from Karen's farm).
Almost all of the damage comes Sika Deer.
They graze on newly planted trees, reducing the 'baby' crop by 90%.
Peculiarly, they wont eat the invasive plants, of which there are several significant infestations in my area.
They also damage the landscape, ripping river banks apart, and dramatically accelerating erosion.
I understand that similar damage was done on Karen's farm!
But.... it amazes me that our farming (beef) community is not more active in lobbying to have this pest (yes.... sad to say, beautiful animals... but a pest) culled.
It is time to stop blaming the badger for TB.
I think that there must be a correlation between wandering deer and bovine TB.
If this gets into the greater public domain, just imagine the damage potential to the Irish beef industry, both domestic, and above all the export trade! Recall the impact BSE (mad cow) had!
I do know it takes effort and €€s, but it can be done... see the struggle, and successes, New Zealand has had in removing invasive mammals which were / are much more difficult than deer.
For goodness sake, and cop on to the disaster in process, and its catastrophic potential.... and get lobbying!
I couldn't agree more. TB reactors are up approx 20% in 2023 and nobody seems to be able to see the correlation between that and the absence of deer culling throughout Covid times. Deer populations can triple every year if not controlled and that's exactly what happened for the past few years. I never see a red deer. it's always sika and they are absolutely everywhere around here
Hi Karen Deer loves lush green grass & there lots of it there 🤣
I was going to say what are they doing here so? 🤣
Grease the gate crush make it easier on you
Thankyou for the report . What I've seen is the pastures are too wet . They just get torn up .
Hopefully it'll dry a little .
Good luck .
Question .is there deer hunting in the UK ??
I live in the USA .
I'm in Ireland not the UK but here we do have deer hunting but special licenses are required and I believe the hunting season is only open at certain times in the year
@@karenmoynihanfarm I am sorry , yes you are in Ireland .
Thankyou for taking the time and answering my question .
Hope all goes well .
First !!!! 🆒 Video Karen !!!!!
Best of luck 👍
Hope all goes well with the reading
Is that a lake beside ur shed or just a field full of water
It's a lake
The very, very best of luck on day 2 of the test 🤞🤞🤞🤞.
We have the very same issue with deer here in Donegal. It's a wrecking match on the fencing all the time. They are a bloody menace 🤦♂️.
Hope that all will be well for you.🏴🏴
What splendidly beautiful scenery. Ireland is my dream vacation. Honestly ever since I saw John Wayne in The Quiet Man. I'd probably be just your typical American tourist. LOL. I am so loving your videos because it depicts what I may never see in person. I've also read that there are no snakes in Ireland. I absolutely despise those jokers, and we have so many in Alabama. In regards to deer, I have a few on my acreage. I've put up a trail cam just to see how many. I've only caught one male, but I believe I've got my camera mounted too high. It also might be in too wooded of an area based on what I've read.
Just curious, will you top that lower field to clear out the rushes before putting the yearlings there or just leave it as is?
👍👍👍
Great video !!
I be putting on a tree so no one would see it
If anybody saw it out on the post it will be taken
Nice footage of a sunny winters day there hope all goes well,as for the bobble hat ❤ it
Best of luck with the test Karen hope all goes well for you and your Dad
You did make me laugh Karen @ 12:53 when you said "I'm aware I look like a 12 year old boy 🤣 You actually look like the Lad's sister! Know how bummed you were to see that fence completely down after all the work and sweat in putting it up last Summer! Hope that camera helps in revealing what actually happened. Does sound like Deer but having concrete evidence is a bonus! Here in Columbus, Ohio we too have for the most part been having a almost snowless winter but the very cold temps have not forgotten us. 64 Calendar Days till Spring so stay strong! I know you worry about farm things but also remember You and Rob and your Dad are doing the best possible for your Animals! Cheers From Across The Pond in COW-lumbus MOO 👋
Thank you 😊
Where is that hat from, looks nice
I think it's from Farm Wardrobe
@@karenmoynihanfarm thanks
You're doing a good job. If the deer are smaller, put the camera about their shoulder height.
Also putting some kind of ribbons about every 3 feet along the top of the fence might help scare them off. Survey tape is good and bright.
Hope the tests go well.
Thanks for the tip!
👍
Anyone else notice the only cow in the emojis is a friesan?!?! 😂 be nice to have a suckler as a choice (I’m not anti-freisan but all cows are not dairy cows 😅
I agree 🤣🤣
As a 12yr old boy, you look wonderful lol. Love your videos ❤
🤣🤣
👍👍👍👍
Greetings from an extremely cold snowy Michigan USA. -22F wind chill and 15” fresh snow 🙈. I’m curious why post hole diggers are not used in Ireland? Does your scraper work in the rubber slats? And if you don’t mind me asking, who is Rob? I’ve seen bits of him in several episodes landing a welcome hand when needed and I keep asking myself who he is. 🤷🏻
Yes the scraper does run over the slats if I pull it rather than push. Rob is my husband who helps out sometimes
Good Luck with the Test. You will be clear. Xxxx
Glad the weather is nice there we have a little bit of snow but it's -1 degree here in Southern Indiana enjoy all your video's and always look forward to the next video.
Thank you!
Happy New Year Ren. That scenery behind you at the beginning is stunning. That would be a nice field to build a house in.
