I choose to believe that even whilst drunk Darcy was subconsciously doing her signature gay meddling when she puked on Mr. Ajayi's bed and created the Only One Bed dilemma. She's playing 3D chess with all the queers on this show.
The actor who plays Mr. Farouk did a fantastic job portraying this "strict" and tough character on the outside, but softer and understanding on the inside. And he has this vulnerability whenever he looks at Mr. Ajayi, it changes his vibes completly. SO GOOD
Yes, and it wasn't just consent they highlighted, but ENTHUSIASTIC consent. Because Charlie could have just taken Nick's "yeah" and kept going, but he realised that it wasn't enthusiastic and they needed to have a discussion.

I love how accurate to the book all the characters are. Including Joe’s Charlie because Charlie is both sarcastic, all three Spring siblings are, but is also described repeatedly as the kindest boy. Nick Nelson is the nicest but Charlie is the kindest. And both Tori and Nick recognize that about him.
I feel like seeing teens being mature about boundries might feel unrealistic but I really like the show is making a point about the importance of Consent, it goes really well with Charlie's journey as a character and while maybe a little preachy is a nice touch for an overall wholesome series.

My favorite part of this episode is the editing during the part of the truth or dare scene when Nick says he knows who it was and looks to Charlie before grabbing his hand and telling everyone that it was him and that they're dating. It's obviously a really sweet moment between Nick and Charlie but what gets me emotional is that they cut to each of their friends who know and the looks on their faces are so warm and supportive because they realize what's happening and what a big deal it is for Nick and Charlie. It makes the scene that much more tender.
Thank you for that bit about teens not always being ready for more than kissing. It’s one of the most annoying topics around season 2 recently, everyone talking about how it’s “unrealistic” for them to not be ready for that. It’s one of the things I hated most about the “drag queens react” video Netflix posted to UA-cam. They just would not shut up about it.
I suspect that people who have had an early sexual debut assume they are average. But the average age is 17 in the US, and at age 18 only 50% of teens has had sex. A 15 year old and 16 year old are entirely typical if they're not ready yet.
Yeah I think people are forgetting Charlie is literally 15, and I think Americans get confused because we call that high school and they’re thinking the boys are like 17-18
I totally feel you! I wasn't really ready to do more than kissing when I eventually got a boyfriend, since I wanted to go slow and pace myself. I wanted to get to know them more before we did anything more serious, but every guy I dated seemed to want to blitz through every base, and when I wasn't putting out they quickly lost interest. It was very disheartening at the time, because I felt like there was something wrong with me for not being as obsessed about the sexual aspect of a relationship.

It's been really nice watching with you two. A big queer hug from Brazil. The scene of the teachers talking is the perfect description of what we missed out on when we were young. This series is extremely necessary, it hurts, but it heals. 🏳🌈💛
I didn’t take the scene round 08:00 min to as Nick being nervous about intimacy but rather him teasing Charlie. I think in the comics he actually says something along the lines of “it’s so fun teasing you” when Charlie jokes that he hates him.
And it is part of Joe and Kit's chemistry that the teasing happens in real life too. Joe "takes the Mick" out of Kit a lot when they do interviews. I think it's because Kit is a more experienced actor and he comes at it all very seriously. And Joe, well, Joe is a way happier person than Charlie. More confident, way less damaged. Nick's love language is physical touch. Even before they got together, Nick was always touching Charlie, even in rugby practice and in the locker room. He needs to be physically connected to the people he cares about. It's a way that it is made very clear that he doesn't care about David or his dad. Maybe he wanted to, but he didn't get that from them and he did from his mom and now Charlie. That's why the sparks flew when he touched Charlie when Charlie wasn't awake. Nick realized how much he WANTED to touch Charlie. And yet, he's still figuring it out, only 3 - 3.5 months into this, probably his first, significant relationship.
you guys are the first reaction channel ive seen to actually understand the teachers- everyone is so admired about the kiss they do not bring up that those two did in fact hook up lol
Nick’s dad reminds me of how "involved" my daughter's dad is...he thinks he is father of the year and sees her maybe once a year at best growing up...she's an adult now so she moved out, and she knows better...but the damage is done...his loss truly because she's simply amazing 💖
Someone else said it, but I'd also like to point out that no one but Nick knows that Charlie and Ben were seeing each other, let alone what Ben did to him. His sister knows he broke up with someone, but that's about it.
Both your reactions to Darcy vomiting were HYSTERICAL!! Alex your "Say the words you wanna sayHAYYYYYYY GURRRL" was amazing. You guys are both so much fun to watch.
I love the bit when Nick and Charlie are finally alone in the bedroom and Charlie flops on to the bed, but the noise when he flops on to it makes me think that mattress sounds like it is hard as a rock. Typical middle level hotel bed here.
Same I imagine bloopers with that stunt. Or someone directing Joe to back up until your calves hit the mattress then flop. when nick flops on his bed at home it looks to be so soft compared to this hotel bed
Idk if Id say it's the acting of kissing that improved but more that it just follows how more and more comfortable Nick and Charlie are with each other. Obviously thr actors being more comfortable with each other helps but I think the evolution fits the story There's been (since season 1 actually) quite a few people calling the show antisex or cathering to conservative and honestly it's absolute pure bullshit. If it was, they wouldnt even mention it. But what it does is finally showing teens that you are allowed to take your time, that you can want it but not be ready at the same time. This season has done a great job at introducing the subject (more than once actually). "Teen medias" have done a lot of damage with its protrayal of teens' sexuality, with making 30yo looking pass as teens and having them have a very sexy and active sex life, acting like every 17 yo is sexually active which is absolutely false. And yet Heartstopper is the one being called unrealistic, because a 15 yo and 16 yo who have been dating for like 3 months arent ready. Yeah, nope It does a great job as usual showing communication and bounderies. And for the sexy time, for now, we have the teachers 😏 (I understand the fear behind the queer people making these critiques, but they didnt chose a good target cause that's just not it)
THANK YOU! I've been so frustrated with people saying this show is unrealistic or puritanical because they're not having sex. Charlie JUST TURNED 15 like 2 months ago and this is the first real relationship either of them have had. (Kissing Ben doesn't count as a relationship imo.) It makes sense to me that they wouldn't be ready for more. When I was their age I wasn't ready. My experience is just as valid as someone's who did start having sex at that age.
What bothers me about a lot of those critiques is they seem to be implicitly saying any teenage boy who isn’t immediately comfortable with sex is abnormal somehow. Or that Charlie, someone who has experienced sexual assault, being so careful about consent and checking in when Nick seems hesitant is far-fetched or silly. I don’t think that is a sex positive or helpful message to send young people. As anyone who reads the webcomic knows, Nick and Charlie will explore their sexual relationship in their own time, without shame or pressure.
@@figure8angel 50% of 18 year olds have had sex. The other half hasn't. And the average age of the first sexual experience is 17/18 (depending on where you are). So this idea that a 15 year old and a 16 year old are somehow abnormal if they're not ready yet is absurd.
@@bluebirdwindowsill-zg3kn yeah, teen boys and teen girls are looking for romance and sex in equal measures (Amy Schalet, Not under my roof) but teen boys are culturally only allowed to be interested in sex, and girls are only allowed to be interested in romance. Vice versa is either mocked or slut shamed.
@@bluebirdwindowsill-zg3kn Exactly ! They act as if teenage boys are hormonal animals that just want sex and arent allowed to have insecurities or be awkward about the topic. //Comic Spoilers// Yes the topic will come, it will be well developped in a way I dont think ive ever seen before. It wont be sanitized, but it wont ever be graphic either. But let's be honest, even then people will complain saying this and that isnt realistic or is problematic. We've already seen it with the comic. People just want to find stuff, twist them and use it to justify their dislike of the show. Just dislike something and move on with your life 🙄
I have noticed with Nick at times he really loves kissing Charlie, but when it does get to become more intimate, and when it could lead to something more, he pulls back. Nick of course has gone through a massive journey. We sometimes forget, that in season two, we are still early on in their relationship. We see this with Nick at the end of this episode, when his eyes show fear when he thinks Charlie wants to go a bit further than kissing. He is still starting off on this path, no need to rush.
We're literally in maybe late June, early July? Charlie and Nick meet on the 4th of January and kiss on the 20th of March. Nick's been "bisexual, actually" for 3 - 3.5 months! He knows he's in love with Charlie, but it is pretty clear that other than his kiss with Tara when they were 13, he's NOT even had a girlfriend. So he also had a bit of a later development.
@@ben-andyhein7497 Yes, but they are still teenagers slowly exploring their sexuality together. If you go back to your teen years, weren't you a bit nervous of taking the next step? Also I think it is a credit to the writing of Alice that she chose not to just launch into sex scenes come season 2. That's a very American way of doing it. She wants to portray a more family friendly approach. It does happen with Nick and Charlie, it's in the books, they do become more intimate together.
You boys are so friggin funny. So glad your Heartstopper videos were suggested to me! I only just saw the show for the first time 2 weeks ago, but I've been absolutely obsessed, and LOVE watching reactions to it 🥹 I can't wait to see more of your content, after I finish the Heartstopper stuff ❤
Guys, I love your reactions so much! You are very harmonious with each other. Alex is very emotional and loud, while Josh is calm and reserved. You complete each other😊
Yes another one!! Recently found your guys’s channel from the Heartstopper reactions and I’m obsessed! It’s like I’m rewatching the shows for the first time with you guys. Thanks for the videos!
Oh the math of this episode had me in stitches! 😂 you made me laugh so much this episode and it's such a joy to watch it with you! And yessss to the teachers!
If you feel sick from doing something bad, you either hide it out of fear of getting in trouble or you go to an older person you trust in hopes they will know what to do. I definitely wouldn't have ran to the teachers but I find it endearing that they did lol
It's funny that they could've called Mr Ajayil bc he's more soft spoken and understanding, yet when they needed it, Farouk was the first one they called lol. Authority may cause someone to seem scary, but also very reliable
It's so interesting to see how other sexualities viewed the isaac storyline because as an aroace person even from season 1 I knew where Alice was going with his story and I'm so glad she represented our community so well!
I just wanna ad something to what you said about Tao and Elle's relationships. A lot of trans-cis couples would say they are in a straight relationship, but also there are couples too that they would say they are in a queer relationship. We should let them tell us not the other way around by assuming.
I suppose that’s fair. But at the same time, I’m not really keen on how people kind of no longer consider Tao the “token straight” just because the girl he’s into is trans.
I'm deaf so I'm sorry I didn't catch who is Alex and who is Josh. But the line Farouk me Daddy and the other cringing but equally laughing in his mind, has me in tears. You two are seriously funny and equally matched!
The great thing you learn in this episode is that despite Ben being so much more horrible and Harry coming around to regretting who he is in the past, is that Charlie and Nick have done such a great job of protecting Ben's secret despite his not deserving it, that he's still invited to things and included. He's still known as a popular A student. But, Harry, his sins are public and so more people just see him as an entitled jerk and have no trouble holding him to account for who he was in the past.
8:15 in the comics, that scene Nick actually pushes him over onto the ground just to be a tease and to break their kiss so they weren’t too late to Tara’s surprise party. I think they were trying to replicate that moment here but in a more gentle way
12:40 y'all they're like 15 to 17😭😭they honestly shouldn't even be drinking in the first place let alone all that lol. This isn't a college dorm party😂
"re:"touching the iceberg"...I'm terrible about mixing metaphors. My daughters have all their friends, even those that don't know me, saying "Let's get this ball on the road" and I said that about 15 years ago.
My heart just broke for Isaac in that scene. I've been there, knowing you're supposed to feel something, desperately reaching it, but it's not there and never will be and you don't know why.
I love watching your reactions and thinking and that is why I joined your patrion. I have watched so many reactions, as a gay man you to have won me over. Thanks guys you both are fantastic.
i'm really happy to see how you reacted to Nick and Charlie talking about not being ready! Because a lot of people that critique the show say they think it's "unrealistic" that there's no s*x in the show and i never understood that criticism really. Charlie just turned 15 some months ago. also, why can't we have one show with queer kids that doesn't immediately dive into this topic? just to show the experience of lgbtq+ kids who waited a little for those experiences (or haven't had them yet).
Completely agree, it can be very intimidating and isn't likely to go too well if they don't both truly want it, exactly what Charlie said "I'll only want to when you will want to as well" Also I dont remember who but I saw a youtuber remind that the author is asexual and that her stories are less centered around sex witch allows the storyline to explore some themes in a deeper way. Plus we have so much of that kind of content already, we don't necessarily need more, while we absolutely need to see deep relationships, nuance, emotionnal intimacy etc. and there is very little of that in mainstream queer entertainment
@@Roroxane i think i watched that video as well! was it "obviously queer"? and i totally agree with that perspective. as an ace person myself i find it refreshing that their relationships centre so much around communication and consent and building a relationship. it's just a breath of fresh air for me!
Hi boys. Oh my gosh i loved your reaction once again. I love watching two great friends discuss this show together - i wish i could. Can't believe there are only two more to watch with you (i know what is coming and can't wait). Thank you so much 💓
Oh my....you guys are so funny. I really like listening to you banter. One of you is so animated and the other very controlled. And that smile!! Nice......
just watched Fireworks 2023 (Stranizza d'Amuri) and I needed a little ASWT humor. right off the bat a ball popping out and the friend kept looking to see if it would pop out again put me in the right mood.
RIP to "we do gay shit" I might be biased because this is my favorite episode of season 2 but this is also probably my favorite video yall have ever made. The banter is fantastic. The reaction to darcy's vomit was incredibly queer. The satisfaction of finally watching you guys see Mr Ajayi and Mr Farouk get together after all the previous banter. Also the chat about doing things in your own time was SO SO good (saying this as an asexual queer myself!) and a huge relief because most people are expressing frustration and confusion about them wanting to take things slow but I LOVE it. I love yall!
Love love love your reactions. So many hilarious thumbnail opps 😂 I get so annoyed at the critics saying how sanitized this show is… particularly given how young the actual actors are. I am in no rush to watch underage kids going at it tbh… give us the teachers instead 😊 I just think it’s such a good lesson for young people around constant enthusiastic consent… even when Nick said he was fine Charlie picked up that he wasn’t and they talked about it. It’s even more important when you take Charlie’s trauma from Ben/SA as well as Nick barely even coming to terms with his sexuality just a couple weeks. I just love this show for what it is. If people want more sex there’s shows like Euphoria or (better imo) Sex Education and the like. Rant over. Thanks for another great reaction.
I really was waiting your reaction to this episod because I KNEW Alex's reaction will be priceless 😂 I couldn't stop laughing and I had to put my head in my pillow because the wall between my parents' room and mine are in fucking paper but it was really difficult
I love what Mr. Farouk says about missing out on "beautiful gay experiences" because it's not just people who discover their sexuality/identity late that miss out on things. I think all LBGTQ+ people miss part of their youth in some way or another. We all have things we would like to have done as kids/teens but couldn't either out of fear or because someone wouldn't let us. Be it just kissing a boy/girl, playing with dolls, wearing certain clothes, dancing a certain way or even just speaking a certain way. We all had at least a bit of our youth stolen from us and that's why this show is so popular outside its intended target audience and makes us older queer folk so emotional.
At 21:01 - I mean, this bit must be sent to Alice Oseman as I feel she would get a laugh out of this line from you Alex. If Alex was the director of Heartstopper, I feel Netflix would have a large PG warning before every episode.
The 'recharging' line is actually an iconic one from the novels. Nick does it all the time
Fun Fact: The cast was so tired that the boys squealing after listening to Tao’s revelation was spontaneous.
No wonder Isaac's 'OMG you didn't!' Sounded so genuine
I loved Charlie's tackle to the bed. Guess all that training wasn't totally wasted!
One of them (Tobie?) said they were so giddy with exhaustion at that point that they could barely stay in character.
It came across really well for them though! Like they actually seemed incredibly genuine

It was horrible to hear that after a first kiss and must be very traumatic. I mean, it's a memory you'll have for the rest of your life.😮

Or someone directing Joe to back up until your calves hit the mattress then flop. when nick flops on his bed at home it looks to be so soft compared to this hotel bed
obsessed with you repeatedly calling Mr Ajayi 'Mr Ayoade' like Richard Ayoade is in the room with us
Oops 🤣
Idk if Id say it's the acting of kissing that improved but more that it just follows how more and more comfortable Nick and Charlie are with each other. Obviously thr actors being more comfortable with each other helps but I think the evolution fits the story
There's been (since season 1 actually) quite a few people calling the show antisex or cathering to conservative and honestly it's absolute pure bullshit. Yeah, nope
It does a great job as usual showing communication and bounderies.
And for the sexy time, for now, we have the teachers 😏
(I understand the fear behind the queer people making these critiques, but they didnt chose a good target cause that's just not it)
What bothers me about a lot of those critiques is they seem
to be implicitly saying any teenage boy who isn’t immediately comfortable with sex is abnormal somehow.
//Comic Spoilers//
Yes the topic will come, it will be well developped in a way I dont think ive ever seen before.
“Farouk me, Daddy!” for the MERCH 🔥
Farouk me daddy is my new favourite naughty phrase 💜
V naughty 😉
I love the dynamic you two have together. You're so much fun to watch!
I LOVE how you keep calling him Mr Ayoade when he's called Mr Ajayi 😂 hahah
I’ve already watched the uncut version on Patreon, but I’m here anyway!! 🎉😂 I was looking forward to the reaction video to this episode most of all!
You boys are so friggin funny. So glad your Heartstopper videos were suggested to me! I only just saw the show for the first time 2 weeks ago, but I've been absolutely obsessed, and LOVE watching reactions to it 🥹 I can't wait to see more of your content, after I finish the Heartstopper stuff ❤
i can't rewatch this show in public anymore because every single time farouk is onscreen i start cackling uncontrollably😭😭
Guys, I love your reactions so much! You are very harmonious with each other. Alex is very emotional and loud, while Josh is calm and reserved. You complete each other😊
I love it. Alex’s laugh is infectious, as is Josh’s smile.
Yes another one!! Recently found your guys’s channel from the Heartstopper reactions and I’m obsessed! It’s like I’m rewatching the shows for the first time with you guys. Thanks for the videos!
So glad Mr Ajayi got a Farouk-buddy
Oh the math of this episode had me in stitches! 😂 you made me laugh so much this episode and it's such a joy to watch it with you!
And yessss to the teachers!
I still don't understand why they ran Darcy to the teachers' room to puke instead of just going to the loo
I think they're just being dumb kids who were drinking alcohol for largely the first time so they were worried it was more serious.
Because they need the bed soiled… 😅
If you feel sick from doing something bad, you either hide it out of fear of getting in trouble or you go to an older person you trust in hopes they will know what to do. I definitely wouldn't have ran to the teachers but I find it endearing that they did lol
do you remember when you were sick as a little kid and barged into your parents room at 2 am to tell them you threw up? its kind of like that :D
Really enjoyed your reaction!!! The best line "Farouk me daddy!!!" Love it. Thanks guys.
2:07 I WATCHED IT TWICE HAHAHAH
I just wanna ad something to what you said about Tao and Elle's relationships. A lot of trans-cis couples would say they are in a straight relationship, but also there are couples too that they would say they are in a queer relationship. We should let them tell us not the other way around by assuming.
I suppose that’s fair. But at the same time, I’m not really keen on how people kind of no longer consider Tao the “token straight” just because the girl he’s into is trans.
@@Tustin2121 exactly. He's just as straight as he was before he started liking Elle.
Exactly, just becaus the girl you like was born with a P doesn't suddenly mean that you are bi/pan
ok..."Farouk me Daddy" now lives rent-free in my head 🤣🤣🤣
Just discovered this channel. Your dynamic is off the charts!
I'm deaf so I'm sorry I didn't catch who is Alex and who is Josh. But the line Farouk me Daddy and the other cringing but equally laughing in his mind, has me in tears. You two are seriously funny and equally matched!
Josh is on the right, Alex is on the left.
Ah thanks for telling me! So Josh's reaction to Alex's line had me in stitches! @@johnking5174
You're welcome!
I think they were trying to replicate that moment here but in a more gentle way
Loved Alex's reaction when mr Farouk and mr Ajayi had their moment. You've been waiting for that one for sure xD
Darcy was her meddling gay self even while drunk.
I will totally appreciate her unique power to set up relationships or predict them. All the time.
12:40 y'all they're like 15 to 17😭😭they honestly shouldn't even be drinking in the first place let alone all that lol. This isn't a college dorm party😂
Im sooo glad i found your channel , you both give me so much life!💕
Thank you for giving the only appropriate reaction (out of all I’ve seen) towards that little meddling witch in truth or dare.
Your commentary this week was so spot-on. I agree with everything you discussed. Well done, you young whipper snappers. You impressed me greatly. xx
Completely agree, it can be very intimidating and isn't likely to go too well if they don't both truly want it, exactly what Charlie said "I'll only want to when you will want to as well"
Also I dont remember who but I saw a youtuber remind that the author is asexual and that her stories are less centered around sex witch allows the storyline to explore some themes in a deeper way.
"Farook me daddy" is the highlight of this reactions 😂
Josh is such a head boy. LOL. "Responsibilities."
You guys are a riot!!! Love watching your reactions.
Nice......
I'm always checking to see if you guys have a new video, your reactions are so funny. LOVE FROM BRAZIL ❤
just watched Fireworks 2023 (Stranizza d'Amuri) and I needed a little ASWT humor. right off the bat a ball popping out and the friend kept looking to see if it would pop out again put me in the right mood.
James deserves the whole world he's such a sweetheart ❤ hoping he finds a boyfriend of his own in s3
17:23 YOU DID NOT HAHAHAHAHHA. 21:04 Yep I suscribed this channel just for your gorgeous reactions HAHAHA
I wonder why, when Darcy became sick, she ran not to the toilet, but to the teachers' room?😂
Oh cool wait this is the episode truth/dare? Oh this random girl pissed me off but yeah can't wait 🥳🥳
I adore your reactions. I can’t wait to see the next one!
Farouk me daddy needs to be on a t shirt 😂😂😂
I just discovered ypur channel guys, I love it!❤ I react like Josh most of the time😂
I LOVED YOU REACTION TO THE TEACHER AHAHAHAH
"FAROUK ME DADDY" HAHAHAHAH LOVED THAT
Did I watch this on Patreon? Yes. Am I gonna watch it again on YT? Abso-fucking-lutely 😂
Thanks for nit cutting out the testicle part 😂😂😂
RIP to "we do gay shit"
I might be biased because this is my favorite episode of season 2 but this is also probably my favorite video yall have ever made.
Tori in the next episode is I-CON-IC!
Omg made me laugh once again, I can't for ur guys reaction to the final ❤
Watching you guys watch Darcy throw up cracked me up so much!
Felt like he was speaking directly to me 😮
And honestly because of the same reason it's kinda difficult to watch (for me personally)
Been looking forward to your reaction to this since Josh’s “Farouk me, daddy!” in the episode one reaction video! 😂
“One plus one equals WOOOW not ten!” 😂😂😂😂
🤣 "Farouk me daddy!" Priceless!🤣
I loved the reactions from when they found out Mr Farouk is gay 😂
At 21:01 - I mean, this bit must be sent to Alice Oseman as I feel she would get a laugh out of this line from you Alex. If Alex was the director of Heartstopper, I feel Netflix would have a large PG warning before every episode.
Oh a huge one! 🤣🤣🤣
Their whole reaction for season 1&2 should be send to Alice 😂😂
i absolutely love your reactions, your videos make my day👌🏼
Facts that girl was stirring the pot ❤
Should I correct you and say Olivia Coleman did not sleep with that guy. It was her character 😂
