    pov: you're the ghost
Your mother always told you you'd outlive her. So when you passed and watched as she cried over your corpse, you never quite moved on. You remember hearing her prayers, hoping you've gone to live in peace with your father in heaven. But that's not what happened.
You stayed. You witnessed how your mother took her last breath on her deathbed and how the theatre you frequently performed in withered and perished.
You stayed. You can no longer touch the ground you danced on. But you missed dancing. So you point your toes just above the unrecognizable stage and pirouette in the air. Ghosts can't cry. At least, that's what you thought. You startle yourself as your eyes start to fill, but no tears fell.
No one ever comes to this theatre anymore. No one even lives in the village closest to this theatre anymore. So you didn't expect to hear the thumping of horses' hooves. _No,_ you think. _There's only one horse._
The entrance doors creak open, and you make haste as you fly behind the torn curtains. You peak through a hole in the curtain and watch on as a man pokes his head through the door opening. You watch as he cranes his neck left and right. He couldn't be much older than you-or at least, not much older than the living you.
You watch as he enters the theatre and removes his boots. You fail to stifle a giggle as he wiggles his toes as if thankful to be rid of the suffocating shoes. Humans can't hear ghosts, so you figured it's okay. Well...it's not.
The man definitely heard you. You could tell as his ears perk and he stops wiggling his toes. It came to be more obvious as he lifts his orbs of flames to look in your direction. Humans can't see ghosts. But you doubt it now.
"Who's there? I can see you peeking," the man says.
_Okay,_ you think. _Maybe some humans can hear and see ghosts. Why should I panic?_
The man steps closer to the stage. You figure your heart would be beating loudly at this moment if you had still possessed one. You definitely shouldn't be panicking. But you still are. _How can he see me?_
"Come out. I won't hurt you."
You snort. Not like he can anyway. You tell him just that. You haven't spoken in such a long time that you've forgotten how your own voice sounded like wrapping around words. The man raises a brow at your statement.
    "You think I can't hurt a girl?"
You ponder his question. "I think you're very much capable of doing so, actually." You float through the curtain. If the man was surprised, he didn't show it. You stop just a mere few inches from his face. "Just not me."
He stares at you for a few, and you only tilt your head in confusion. "What?"
    "You're a ghost." It wasn't a question.
    "I'm quite aware of that."
    "What are you doing here?"
You smile at him and float back towards the stage. "Dancing."
You lose yourself in a world of jumps and spins-which were really just you using your ability to fly. You're so caught up in your own world that you don't notice the man approaching and lifting himself up on the broken stage. He performs a few jumps and spins of his own, and it's like an orchestra begins to play for you in your head. You realize you haven't had this much fun in years.
At some point, the day becomes night, and the man bids you farewell.
You listen as the sounds of his horse's hooves fade into silence. You allow yourself to smile. You don't have any regrets-well, maybe except for one.
    You didn't get his name.

Her dark curly hair swayed around in onyx auditorium. The silence was so loud, yet their always seemed to be an audience from the other side.
She mumbled and hummed, the rhythm of music engraved in her mind once it was heard.
Her partner had a sharp glare, whispering the words telling her to stay, she was hypnotized.
Till then she heard something out or rhythm, and fell to the ground. Dry blood stained on her shoes, her partner laughed as he disappeared into thin air.

No one had seen her before. They looked at the stranger, tall, dark-haired, and beautiful. Youth had been hers, and it was now faded. But her eyes, her eyes! how they gleamed in the moonlight flooding through the broken shafts of the ceiling. The lavish seats had gone to waste. The wood was tarnished and worn. But still, she decended the grand staircase, and looked about her. The green eyes shone through the dark, like a cat.
Shadows slinked across the walls. She saw them not. In her mind, the audience was there, all around her. The king sat there, in his box. The charmer here, the musicians, in front. And her place was before them all, on stage.
She leapt to the platform and saw, once again, her painted hands, her beautiful headdress, her jeweled fingers, and her silk skirt. Nodding her head to the imaginary music, suddenly she sprang into action, her feet delicately moving around the eggs placed on the floor, never breaking one, the nest of snakes, and the charmer. Leaping through the tangled nets, and touching her toes to the cold metal of swords.
Here she was, in all her glory: Bazenjar of the Gypsies, the finest and last dancer of her kind. Had she not been bought by the king? Had she not been taught the secret of balance and grace? Had she not charmed his majesty, the king? And was she not rich off her spoils? Ah, here she was again, at home on the wooden stage.
Then, they knew her. They remembered when they still had breath, that she was the queen of dance: Bazenjar of the East.

She dances. Effortlessly. Beautifully. As if she's all alone in this empty theatre. As if there's no one watching her. But there is.
You walk gently towards her, careful not to make a sound even though of course you can't. Ghosts don't make any noise. But even so her dance slightly falters, as if she can feel something is wrong. Something is unnatural.
But she continues. Eyes closed, lips upturned as she twirls one last time. The music in both in your minds falling to a quiet finish. Before the last note plays, you outstretch an arm towards her, reaching for her arm.
And then the song ends. And she opens her eyes. Both of you staring at each other except she's not. Not really. For she can't see you.
You curse. How you hoped this time she might be able to see. How you hoped this time she would finally feel you, understand you. But she just giggles silently to herself, a relieved smile on her face.
And then the next song plays. Not really, not aloud. But you know what she's hearing in her head right now. The exact song, the exact notes. And so as she starts to dance you mimic her moves. As she jumps you hold on to her waist, so gently yet you feel her bones harshly jutting out.
As she finishes the last pirouette you try to stop her but she doesn't pay any mind. She brushes through you, continuing. Brows tensed, expression concentrated. You try to pull her but she pushes you away, you hold her, her heart beating so fast. Much faster than it should.
She's sweating now, her tiny frail body as light as air. Lighter than the air she has in her lungs.
She can't breathe. She stops abruptly, leaning down and gasping for breath.
But she's done it again. Overstretched herself. Reaching for perfection.
But she'll be fine won't she? She always is. She'll be okay. It's just a blip.
Except one day it won't be.
    You should know.
As you look at yourself you try to give you one last chance. Because it's too early for you to die. You have so many hopes, so many dreams. So much love left to give. So much life left to give.
And as you hold her in your arms it's as if she's finally allowed herself to see. Gasping she outstretches an arm to your face, recognizing it's her. She doesn't seem so horrified by such a fate, but understands how much it hurts you.
So gently she closes her eyes and nods.
And then as the music starts playing. This time for real and not inside any of your heads. And people start joining the theatre, large bustling crowds excited to see the star of the show. The curtains closed, ready to open to display her, she still closes her eyes.
And as the curtains start to open, and you retreat away into the shadows. She stands up, looking at all their eager faces, cameras out, mouths smiling. And then simply she bows.
Before walking off the stage, leaving the theatre. Leaving them all in shock. Leaving alive.
And so you smile gently as she leaves. She doesn't even spare you a backwards glance. That's' just like you. But you know she's grateful.
And then you start to disappear, and you know she's safe now.
Just a ballerina, dancing with herself.

She could feel the ache of her feet slowly keeping her off rhythm with the soft orchestra but she didn’t care. She was with him and he was with her. the pair couldn’t seem to keep their eyes off each other as they were in sync with each other as her dust and bloodied dress and his once white costume became a grey, old and now ruined prince costume. she was dancing with her true love. a man who was gone too early, a man who didn’t think of her the way she thought of him. a tale as old as time, they were. two lovers who couldn’t have each other due to their own pain and regrets.
when he passed, she couldn’t fathom the truth of her long time dance partner leaving her. leaving her alone and mournful. something she never thought she would feel. She resented him for it. resentment due to not having that final dance. she hated him for taking away her moment. a moment they could have had together.
the music built up as the dance went on. Op.71: act 2; “Pas de deux”. their song.
as he lifted her up, she could finally see the dance studio she grew to love and adore. seeing her friends and family proud of her. she felt a tear roll down her face. a feeling she never thought she would be able to experience.
she and her love were then finally back together, the music picking up as their love for each other grew more apparent.
He then pulled her in for one final kiss. she held onto him tight. She didn’t want this moment to end. not again. he then lifted her up. then let her go.
the orchestra was gone. the only music she heard was the sound of her head hitting the concrete floor beneath her and the dreadful silence of the old theater. during her last moments, she finally learned the act of acceptance. accepting that he didn’t love her, accepting that she would never get that final dance, and accepting reality.
a tale as old as time, the fool and the prince.

It had happened 700 years ago.
The fire was devastating- a fallen torch, that was all it took for the majestic theater to be engulfed in angry, deadly flames.
They overtook most of the viewers and all of the performers.
    Including you.
A Christmas melody awakens you from your stupor- a light melody, a newer one that wasn't around all those centuries ago.
If you are awake, it must mean that it is Christmas Eve, the anniversary of your death. Just like always, you arise from your grave. You died in the mass of people shoving to reach the exit- right by Aisle 6B, next to a young girl. You still remember her cries.
On the stage sits the King.
He's not actually a king, only playing one, but in death, it does not matter. You are a princess, a princess of silver and hushed whispers. A princess engaged to a foreign king.
You wish you'd told him you loved him before you had died, but as always in death, it does not matter anymore. Today is the one night in the year that you get to see your King, and you are prepared to dance.
A phantom melody sweeps up in a distant wind. To you, the theater is exactly how it was that fateful night.
The melody grows louder, and you glide slowly towards the stage. The broken lights blare, spotlighting the King in your eyes and your eyes only. His crown is lopsided and perfectly intact- by the end of the night, it will be blackened and aflame.
But in death, it does not matter.
You reach the stage- he bows to you. The melody, a mournful Chopin nocturne that you think you once played, grows more powerful as you and he launch into your ghostly last dance.
You dance through the moonlight, moving from the stage to spin and leap through the aisles, where the applause of hundreds of invisible viewers fills the air as the nocturne fades, only to be replaced by an even more haunting waltz.
You never stop, not even when the torch falls to the ground, and the screams begin to arise. You don't even stop when the flames begin to lick at your feet, the pain just as real as it was seven centuries before.
The flames rise, rise, rise, and you know your death is coming closer.
In an instant, it will all be gone, only to come again next Christmas Eve.
    But no matter.
For you will be back again, and you will pay again, for your last act of arson.
Sorry this is so long, I just wanted to try it :)

Pov: there she goes again with her flowy dress and ballet shoes. She always left for the woods after supper and returned late at night with dirt all over her. What did she do in the woods everyday? I decided to follow her from a far and see were she went. After a few minutes of trailing behind her, she stopped walking in front of a garden gate. She opened the wooden door that led inside the garden and went in. I looked inside from a hole in the fence and saw her dancing in a graceful maner. Every movement she made felt like they were filled with so much emotion. She spun around with her eyes closed huming a tune that sounded angelic. As her turns came to a stop she opened her eyes. Her beautiful green eyes had met with mine, Oh no...

Dunno if anyone's gonna read this, but here's a little story I wrote the past half an hour. (I'm not a native, there might be some mistakes).
As night fell, she entered the room filled with lords and ladies, most of which she had never seen before. The music stopped whilst they cleared her a path to the centre of the ballroom. All stared at her as she started to walk into the room. The ones she passed bowed to her. She wasn’t uncomfortable with having so many eyes resting on her. She stopped in front of the podium. On it sat his majesty, the king, tighter with his queen, and their son. She bowed deep in front of the royal highnesses.
The room was silent. A couple of moments nothing happened. She looked the king in his eyes and he looked into hers. Neither said something.
A lady in a purple dress coughed. She turned to her, smiled, and started walking towards her. The lady gasped in fear. As soon as she reached her, yet another smile appeared on her face. She made a gesture undeniably to ask her for a dance.
The lady hesitated, looking at her husband who stood next to her but he was as confused from the situation as she so his face displayed nothing. After thinking about it for another moment, she accepted the offer she had made her.
The lady could not see the dead stare eyes of her who had made the offer due to the mask covering her face. She turned to the musician and even with that mask, it was clear she wanted them to play, which they decided to do. She led the lady in the purple dress in the middle and started dancing a beautiful waltz.
Whilst for most people it was an uncommon sight to see a woman to waltz with another woman who was a complete stranger, the lady in the purple dress enjoyed the switches between the eight slow and four fast parts and the different figures used.
“My name is Sandra”, she said quietly to her masked dance partner.
“I see. I don’t need to introduce myself. You know who I am”, she replied.
“I do.” She spun around. “If you don’t mind me asking. What brings you here tonight?”
    “The abandoned brother.”
    “Lord Arald?”
    “Indeed.”
“What happened that you have to deal with him?”
“He remains unseen but he is not dead. Peace is fragile.”
Concern appeared on Sandra’s face. She spun around two times. “What are you implying?”
“Times change. What the future holds is unknown to normal human beings. I tell you, a new era will start soon.”
    I hope you enjoyed

Sometimes when I come to these playlists I find pieces I had forgotten about that I danced to long ago. It’s been a year and a half since I last performed, and well over 3 years since I last performed on a real stage. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been since I last heard it, still remember some of this music, and I smile looking back on all the long forgotten hours spent in the studio rehearsing endlessly for a short euphoric performance. Some of the memories are good, others not so much. All the same, ballet has been my beginning and almost my end. It has brought me the happiest of times, and the darkest depression of my life. When I dance I feel most alive, it is the only way I can truly express myself without words, just emotions. I’m not even sure how to explain it, but there’s a sweet spot when you know a dance by heart, and your body takes control and your mind is free to live in the moment and realize, “hey, all my hard work has led up to this” It’s such a beautiful, but fragile world, and there’s no way to explain it to someone who has never experienced it.

Reaching up, I feel for the bobby pin in my hair and gently pull it out. Fiddling with the lock for a minute, I eventually push the door open and hear the familiar creak. Placing the lock back on the doorknob, I pick up my heavy skirts and step softly into the long hallway. Smoothing my hair which has gotten a little messed up in my excitement, I check to see how I look in the nearby mirror. The faded blue gown is old but has an intimate smell that I hope to never erase from my memory.
I sigh in relief before pushing open the doors. And like always, he is there, staring out the window. The same rumpled suit and messy locks of hair. He turns around, looks at me, and smiles.
"I missed you," he whispers, his voice echoing in the vast room. My eyes are brimming with tears, but I force them back down.
"I miss you too," I reply shakily. He pretends to walk on the wooden floors because he knows it makes me feel better.
Extending his wispy hand, I can feel his struggle in this corporeal form. Hesitantly, he looks into my eyes.
"Shall we?" he asks. Silently, I nod with a slight smile.
And it's almost like he was human. His hands are not real hands, but I can feel his presence. He spins me around and holds my hands without holding my hands. My face is on his shoulder, but at the same time, it is just resting in the air. We dance to the imaginary orchestra, just like we once did.
I think I love him, however, I feel an overwhelming sense of guilt. Because he doesn't know. Every second longer spent dancing is another second where my heart is beating too fast for my nerves to handle. I swallow it down because I don't want to ruin this. He is the only one I will ever dance my dances with.
But he knows me too well and senses my discomfort. "What's wrong?"
I shake my head and stare at my shoes. His hands grip my face and gently turn it towards him, just as a tear rolls down.
His voice is serious now, deeper. "You can tell me anything."
    "I can't- I can't tell you this."
Inhaling a sharp breath, he goes back to his wispy form. "I know."
My eyes widen because he can't know, he doesn't know, he shouldn't know. "Impossible," I whisper.
"But I know," he says again, staring at my hands.
    "What do you know?"
"I know- I know that you killed me."

the cold in your face filling the absence of a bright spotlight
a feeling of eyes watching you, but nobody's there

Pov: You are a romantic ballet in two acts, and is considered a masterwork in the classical ballet performance canon. It was first performed by the Ballet du Théâtre de l'Académie Royale de Musique at the Salle Le Peletier in Paris, France on 28 June 1841, with Italian ballerina Carlotta Grisi as Giselle. The ballet was an unqualified triumph. You became hugely popular and was stage at once across Europe, Russia, and the United States. But you had a secret. You were in love with Vincent, a ghost who died from betrayal.

she spun around, her eyes blurry with tears, her dress twisting around her ankles. and she saw him. him, her love she’d lost weeks ago. him, she longed for everyday. him, standing there, translucent yet handsome as ever. he stepped, no, glided forward, his hands outstretched, and she stared at him.
“how...” she whispered. but when he didn’t answer, she didn’t care. she didn’t care how bizarre this was, she didn’t care. all that mattered to her as she took his hands was that she was with him once more, safe in his arms. they danced the night away, and the girl was oblivious that his touch, the touch of a ghost, was making her like him, wispy and clear.
they still dance to this day, for when they died, the music never stopped, and neither did their love.

The memories of her last performance never faded, yet she had to refresh them.
The sounds of her heels against the wooden dusted floor made her heart race faster. She held her hand to the one line of light sneaking through the broken window above.
Looking around, the chairs that three years ago were occupied by men in fancy suits and women with polite attitude and elegant gloves. Now occupied by spider webs.
She mumbled the tunes then imagined the orchestra playing gracefully at the high balcony. Taking off her shoes, she swung in the theater like never before.
She stooped on her toes, hands high in the air and skillfully pointed fingers. It was his turn, the time for her partner's entrance, She tried with every inch of her mind to see him coming, dancing, smiling.
Her eyes remained fixed on the shadows, even when her toes started to hurt and her legs shaken, she isn't as good as she was before, but she couldn't break down and fail the audience who were clapping in awe to her performance.
The whistle she knew too well made her stumble on the ground.
"Who- who is there?" She managed to voice. Her imagination went too far, she thought.
When she looked back to the shadows, she believed her eyes. He was there, alive, real.
One flinch was enough to end it, everyone was gone, she was back to the abandon theater. To the lonly present.
"I know you're here, you have always been there with us." she whispered "They all said I've gotten crazy after I failed my performance. After the fall."
She looked around hoping to catch a glimpse of his presence "But we both know you're real. Why didn't you play your part? Why did you leave me alone in the moment I needed you most? All you had to do was to show up."
"I did come." His voice was near her warm, caring and calm as always. "You just couldn't see me. It was time for you to move on. Ballet was never your thing. You were forced to dance: there for I joined your training to make life easier for you. I only exist when you need me."
"You exist now, do I need you?"
His answer never came, and she was smarter than to wait for him again. She tapped on her phone and held it to her ears "You were right doctor, my imagination went too far. There is no ghost in this place."

The first time you saw them, they were dancing, under the lights that weren't supposed to be working.
The first time you saw them, your heart stuttered, a response to the cold wind blowing through the theater.
The first time you saw them, you didn't notice the chill.
They moved the way wind does: too quick to catch, taking your breath away. You watched, star-struck, as they moved and leapt across the stage, the epitome of elegance and grace. You didn't know how anyone could hold themselves so flawlessly, so effortlessly, with such a somber expression upon their brow.
They didn't meet your eyes that day. They simply finished their dance, standing center-stage, before the lights went out.
The theater had been yours for the rest of the day. But you could barely practice, still enthralled by the dancer's moves, even more than the fact that they disappeared in midair.
They were there the next day, and the next.
You noticed how they stayed, lingered longer each time, each dance more intricate and detailed than the last. When they finished dancing, they would turn to the empty audience, and bow. Then the broken lights would blink out, and they would be gone.
Not once did they meet your eyes.
You never dared to clap until the curtains settled, afraid to break the spell. Only when the cool breeze was gone would you approach the stage for your turn to perform to the invisible audience.
It was on a day like this when the lights went on above your head, right after you finished warming up, freezing and blinding you temporarily. When you finally blinked out the spots, you were astounded by the golden, graceful splendor that surrounded you, a ghostly image of what the broken theater was.
You could see them approach you, expression calm, eyes downcast.
Then they looked up, and held your gaze.
You could feel no threat as they held up a hand, translucent and shimmering under the bright lights. It wasn't a move to pull you into the unknown, a request for you to join them in whatever afterlife they were trapped in.
It was much, much simpler than that.
You took a shaky breath, and held up your own, mirroring them.
Somewhere in the distance, an orchestra sounded.

We only touch the wooden planks of the stage when night falls.
When the only light that illuminates the old theatre is coming from the moon, gleaming through the gaps of the roof where once crowned a stunning fresco of renaissance times. Without the maintaining hand of restorers, this centuries-old piece of art decayed over the time, leaving great holes where timber and plaster have rotten.
This is the place of the abandoned, of the unseen. We make our own art here that we only show to those alike us.
When I first came here, it didn't take long to find out that he isn't only a bewitching actor, but also an avid dancer. Before he died, he used to play in this theatre, he told me. Macbeth, Hamlet, King Richard: He had put on so many masks during his lifetime that he couldn't have imagined an afterlife without the comfort of the stage.
I for myself sought this old building in search of some quiet: A safe space for my dancing that I am too afraid to show to anyone. I loathe when strange eyes judge my movements, I despise when their gaze leads me like the strings chained to a puppet. Before I came here, I've felt like a ghost, standing in the shadow of the stages I could have climbed if fear wasn't holding me back.
Maybe that was the reason why this bond between us developed so naturally: We were lovers of art, condemned to stay in the shadows. But with the passage of time, we became lovers of each other and finally lovers of ourselves.

Staring into his eyes was like falling deep into a fever dream. Her thoughts grew heavy and foggy, much unlike the strange music echoing the empty halls. The tune light and breezy, much like spring gave birth to the fervid feeling of joy, bursting from her chest. The tempo changed, becoming sharper, quicker and lighter. She hardly noticed heself being swept down the halls and across the empty stage, up the long stairwells, in a dance she had thought she had long forgotten. She kept her gaze on his translucent face, trying to ground herself. She never noticed the shadows that crept down the walls, stretching and reaching out to touch her. They danced fervently past the glowing red eyes and the soft clacks of bones, the dead bodies strewn along the side of halls. She danced her feet raw, but she could hardly feel them. The music continued playing, changing every so often, the beat always light and joyous. She felt as if she was wading through a vat of tar. Yet she couldnt stop. He kept spinning her in his arm, s charming smile stretched across his face. Finally he stopped. She had no idea where she was. Her vision remained hazed, her thoughts came to a screeching halt. And then finally, as if drawing a sharp breath of air in reverse. Everything turned black

Freedom. That's how she would describe it, the feeling of a thousand eyes missing, of the judging gaze she always dreaded finally gone. She could dance how she wanted and just let herself be one with the music and connect with it. Her movements were slow at first, tentative, but as the song became more intense so did she and she started dancing with such graze that she inadvertently attracted the attention of someone else, a ghost who was enticed by her deep emotions. That day she did not only find freedom in her art, she also made a friendship that would last forever, and blossom into something else within the years, even if she didn't knew it yet.

A few months ago, one of the most famous ballet theaters was closed. Everyone was saying it was because of some sort of accident. I always walked by hoping it would open again. Then, one evening, I was at my rehearsal. I wasn't at my best, so I messed up quite a bit... "That's not how you do it! I know you're better than this!", my ballet teacher shouted at me. After that long, hard day, I walked back to the theater. Except this time, I heard a noise. It was music. Had the theater opened again? I curiously walked inside. The strange thing was the doors weren't locked. I heard a soft piano and violins playing. The spotlight was aiming towards the middle of the stage. I saw a man, maybe 2 years older than me. He was dancing so gracefully as the music played. He was doing the same dance routine I've been trying to perfect. When the music stopped, he finished the routine. I stared at him in awe. I think he saw me because he looked towards me and bowed. "Welcome", he said. "That was amazing. You're a really good dancer", I said. "Thank you", he grinned. "So, is the theater reopened?", I asked. "No", he looked disappointed. "Oh, do you work here or why was it open?", I asked. "I'm Leonard Brown", he said. What?! "Wait the Leonard Brown?", I asked in shock. "Of course, how did you not recognize me?", he asks. "Well, I'm not sure. You look different", I said. I also realized that I read somewhere that Leonard Brown had passed away a few months ago due to an accident... At this theater... "But weren't you in the accident that closed this theater?", I asked. "Yes, that is me", he said with a sad look on his face. "Oh, sorry if I offended you", I said. "No it's alright", he gave me a small smile. This was his spirit I must be seeing. But why? How can I see him? "What brings you here?", he asked. "I heard music and felt curious", I chuckled. "Oh you must be talking about my comrades", he said. A few more spirits came in carrying instruments. "Wow", I said. "Is there something I can ask?" "Sure, ask away", he said. "I have this performance soon. With the same dance routine you were doing. And well, if it isn't much of a bother, I was wondering if you could help me rehearse", I said. "Of course!", he smiled. Then, he turned to his band. "Well, time to play some music", he said. We practiced there for hours. The music echoed in the theater. Right beside me, he danced so gracefully. For some reason, he looked happier than ever. When I would watch him before, he rarely smiled during his performances. If I made a mistake, he would just correct me. Soon, I was able to do it on my own. I had learned it by heart. When we finished, he said, "Thank you for today. I felt like it was one of the best routines in my life. I've never felt the joy of having someone dancing beside me. So, may your performance be one of the best ever." "Thank you so much", I smiled. Even though we've only known each other for a few hours, it felt like I've been friends with him since forever. Then, the day of my performance came. It took place at a different theater but I saw Leonard there. He smiled and gave me a thumbs up. I began dancing. Soon, when I finished the crowd cheered and clapped. I bowed. "That was amazing!", my friends congratulated me. Then, I saw Leonard standing by the entrance. "be right back", I told my friends. "Congrats. I think you even danced better than me out there", he chuckled. "Nah, I couldn't compete with the Leonard Brown", I laughed. "Anyways, I'm here to say goodbye", he said. "What? Why?", I asked. My heart started aching a bit. "I finally found the peace I needed", he smiled. "It's time for me to cross over." I didn't want him to leave but I knew it wasn't best for him to stay either. He gave me a hug. "Goodbye", I smiled. He waved and faded away.
This was my first time writing a short story here😅 I hope you enjoyed it:) My wattpad is l2xite3. I haven't uploaded yet but I will soon:D

Though it had long been left to rot, the theater had a soul. I felt it instantly. Each step through its haunted remains lent presence to the air. I climbed onto the empty stage, lowering my bag to the floor, and looked upon my absent audience.
Even in the dark, with only a bit of moon shining through the sundered ceiling, I could see what had been. It was beautiful. I imagined the music echoing through the chamber, the absolute silence of a crowd sitting on the edge of their seats, and I danced.
Dust rose into the air as I leaped across the stage. It was as if the theater's spirit had come into being. It moved, so determined, like a moth to a flame, dancing in a perfect match to my every movement.
The dust felt like fire against my skin, desperate and clinging as if to let go would end its renewed life. I swung to a stop, crossing my arms at my front, and closed my eyes.
The spirit was there, still, as I breathed. It was behind me, arms wound around my own and his fingers resting on my wet skin. His voice came softly, "You're as beautiful as ever."
I faced the spirit, twisting in his grip, and slid my hands up his chest to his neck. My fingers brushed his sharp features. "I feared our time together was a dream."
"It would be kinder to us both if it were."
I lifted myself onto the tips of my toes and his face met mine half-way, our faces so close our lips could touch. I was sure I could feel his breath and the curl of his fingers at my back.
"Will you be there if I open my eyes, Sebastian?" I said, dizzy.
    "No."
I knew that, of course, but it didn't hurt any less. My heart sank and hot tears burned behind my eyelids. "I want this to be real."
    "It is real. Real enough."
"What if I could stay here forever?"
Sebastian's arms tightened. "I would never allow it."
"I know," I whispered, my heart growing tight as tears slid down my cheeks. I lifted my chin and the space between our lips closed in a sweet kiss. A sad kiss. He pulled away and I lowered to my heels. "Will you wait for me?"
    "As long as it takes."

his hands are light as you turn, like a silent breeze. you step barefooted across the stage, falsely hearing the sounds of pointe shoes. you share a smile to the hallucination that creates the conductor waving his baton in the pit. the orchestra coming to life at his command. you dance on the lines of music, twirling around its notes and grasping it with your breath. you run from one side of the stage to the other, reaching the drawn curtains torn and dangling by threads. it transforms into a brilliant red at one touch of your finger, the velvet fabric vibrantly shining. You pivot back around, noting your full-house audience. They are dressed in their finest attire, fur coats draped around their shoulders, diamonds hanging about their necks. The men wear their sharpest suits, some wear bow-ties, others wearing elegant long ties to match with their date.
The spotlights reflect of your cheeks as they turn on, lighting the stage an innocent pink. Your body mourns the choreography. You notice your partner has entered the stage once more, his arms outstretched towards you. You leap, ready to feel his arms catch you at your hip.
His silent figure disappears from view as gravity pulls you back down. the orchestra silences. the curtains rip once more. the audience fades away. the spotlight dims. the head cracks.

Their bodies were trimmed in a hazy glow as moonshine melts onto their figures and adorns the theater’s precious decay. And as they prance, wooden shoes tapping upon the stage’s olden floorboards, she cradles what felt like the moon’s dying light and embraced his own mysterious glow. His fingers silently slip back into her own, staining her hands with his white, hazy glow as if she is holding his aura in her palm. It was a bittersweet feeling every time he leaned closer, easing his mouth to hover above either her lips or neck while they danced.
Light pools heavy in his heart. She can almost see it through his wrinkly tunic- beating faster, eerie and white with an incandescent energy like a rampart brimming his ghostly heart.

The wind whistled, the clouds danced. The room seemed to twirl slowly around you as you stared down to the piano across the room. Walking to it, you gently hovered your hand across the keys, and gently pushed one down slowly. It made a calm and echoed _ding_ .
You dusted off the collected dirt and lint elegantly, pinching and throwing the small bits off the chair. Sitting down and looking around one last time, you decided to play your favorite song which reminded you of your long lost soulmate. The song elegantly flowed and danced through the room, swaying around and chiming the chandelier’s crystals with the tune. It was rather magical. You stopped back from the piano unintentionally, and up appeared a flowing, cold, elegant white silhouette. _no. It couldn’t be. Was it really?_ *A ghost.*
you jerked down your head to see a beautiful and chilled swirl of crystaled white flowing around your waist and up your arms to reveal a beautiful white ballerina costume, much like the Swan lake. (If your a guy, your outfit is an elegant black shirt sleeve with matching pants) You didn’t understand, but decided to take advantage of what you had.
You leaped and galloped through the giant echoing room as the tunes played, and mid-air appeared _him_. (Or her) you both leaped elegantly through the room together, you supporting your long lost love whenever they seemed doubtful of what they were doing during the unintended routine.
“I’ve missed you.” You stated without hesitation.
“I doubt you have as much as I have missed you.”
More and more pairs of dancers appeared with the same white glow, and it was time to continue to dance away the evening, much as the sun danced off to greet the moon.
