It’s a real place. It’s called Kylemore Abbey in Co Galway Ireland about an hour west of Galway the city. I’ve been to Galway but we didn’t have time to visit the Abbey. You usually have to take a days trip on a bus. My husband wasn’t up for driving through Connemara after the drive thru Killarney National Park. Parts of it were scary. You should go!

It used to be a private mansion, the owner built it out of love for his wife who died shortly after it was finished. You can see her mausoleum and a chapel just next to the main house and it's as sad as it is beautiful... He also incorporated a wonderful glass house, a botanical garden and crops all around the estate in a very modern way for that time. An overwhelming token of love and sadness. Kylemore Abbey was then turned to a catholic boarding school for girls, ruled by nuns, for some time until it shut down. They do have some pretty nice marmelade for sale at the gift shop though... ! I understand why your husband didn't want to drive through Connemara, this place is spooky and peculiar, an out of this world place.
“I wish you to know that you have been the last dream of my soul.” Sydney Carton from Tale of Two Cities Carton’s character has always made me feel some sort of sympathy toward him and I have to pause and think every time he appears in the novel. He also makes me feel very sad for him. It’s as if he has been waiting his whole life for something or someone to give him a reason why he exists. He wanted a reason that would make sense in that chaotic world. His soul has never felt content unless Lucie came into his life. Although it was unrequited love, his feelings for her were so pure and strong that he was willing to give his body to save her husband. Because of Lucie, Carton’s soul was able to find peace. Love is really a magical thing that I cannot understand or explain using words.
I have yet to read it but ill go on a guess here: Does Carton have way through accept that its unrequited love and knows they wont ever be with Lucie - but just by being there/her being in their life it brought them some peace in the end?

It’s very clear in the novel that Carton knew from the beginning that Lucie will never love him the way he loved her, yet he continued loving her and even stayed in contact after she got married. His feelings were pure and genuine. Hadn’t Carton wasted his youthful years, he might have ended up with Lucie. I must also point out that Carton had always thought of himself as a useless human being, therefore, Lucie’s rejection was not a surprising event for him.

It became an abbey in 1920, as Ireland was regaining independence, formerly the home of English colonials (but designed and built by a Irish hands of course). It’s a photograph of Mainistir na Coille Móire meaning “abbey of the big forest”, anglicised to “Kylemore Abbey”, in County Galway, Ireland.
It became an abbey in 1920, as Ireland was regaining independence, formerly the home of English colonials (but designed and built by a Irish hands of course).
Still owned by the Benedictine nuns, but now that Ireland has thankfully let go of the religiously fundamentalist PTSD that sadly often accompanies an oppressed people, it is open to the public and forms part of a collegiate exchange, with facilities for the study of biodiversity.

Audio jungle is a audio website but it lets you download tracks and try them without buying first but it sticks the ‘’audio jungle’’ watermark over the track as a sign its not licensed
