    Wait... Shepherds can cast spells in your recreation ? They certainly could not in the AtariST version (which made them even more useless),
    I had toyed with the idea of giving them insane magic evasion and resistance to debilitating effects (poisons, sleeps, slows, and anything "annoying"). But I thought the no magic was pretty interesting choice. Same for Geoffrey (I gave him 20% physical resistance in your mod, it's mild enough it does not make him OP, but he becomes the best tank). But Katrina just became far more useful in this remake for sure.
    As for Day/night cycles, you already have the code in for the deep forests tiles, just copy/reuse that code, and make it so items providing light also have their minimum radius of light (+1 for a torch, +2 for great light spell and street lights/lanterns). Don't know if that's possible tho. I think I'd be far more interested in an Ultima 3 remake with this engine myself, but I have no doubt you'll make U5 absolutely spectacular... but will probably sacrifice some of the battle strategies with halberds attacking over obstacles and things of the likes. U3 just molds itself very well to this engine I would think. Now that I think about it I really should finish my 256x256 version of the U3 world map. Making it in "Tiled" in my spare time, and almost done filling all the tiles, then I get to "upgrade" it with the U5 enhanced tilesets.
    But in retrospect, if you make U5 first... then you could port U3 into that U5 engine and my god... I think I can just die happy after that lol.

    Dupre is a Paladin, so don't you want to have a second Magic Sword for him?

      Yes, I do want another Magic Sword for Dupre, however I can't afford it just yet. And given that Geoffrey is a Fighter, he does more damage with a Magic Sword than Dupre does. That said, there is a strong argument to giving the sword to Dupre, and the Axe to Geoffrey, as Dupre is a heavy armor wearer, and will tolerate front line fighting better.
      But, that's what I really liked about U4 and this adaptation, is that there is no one perfect tactical choice, leaving some room for personal play style and preference to the player and each run.

    When you are hunting down bugs, you should also hunt down the code that lets you be attacked when you are entering a city, blinking, entering a moongate... You should make the Chests appear only in spots you can walk to that don't have other transitions into or out of them... or maybe just have the "Open Chest' action automatically take place right after combat? That should probably have a 'cance' option added then. Sorry, just in a programming mind this morning...

      This was another design choice, actually. I wanted to preserve the tension from Ultima 4 of, "I'm low health, do I risk opening this chest?" and leave it as a decision to be made after the battle.

      @@SimGamerTV Manual chest opening is true to the OG but in the OG you didn't drop chests in places you couldn't get to. I only mentioned the auto-chest-open as a way to bypass the bug of random encounters happening in mid blink/gate/enter city. Those chests are inaccessable because the times are linked to other events. (Except the moon gate, which is only active part of the time)

      Wouldn't it make more sense to fix the root problem, that encounters can occur mid-moongate or other transition?

      @@SimGamerTV Oh yes, that is what I said in the beginning. (Or was trying to say) You shouldn't be getting random encounters in any space that has another trigger in it or during the completion of another action, like moving from A->B during moon gate travel. i'm right there with youl. However, I haven't dug into that cose personally... so I don't know if that 'feature' is easily fixed. I was just tossing out a workaround because my brain works that way.
      By all means, Squash them bugs!

      You're actually making me interested in making a game redesign series of videos for U4, I think that would be a lot of fun to make, both a full modern creative update to U4, and the video series of the process, and final product!

    Since Maria used a staff in the beginning, can't you give Maria the Mystic staff and make her an even better caster at the same time???

      The mystic staff is not in the original, and is loosely based on the Sword of Paradise from the NES adaptation. I specifically designed it to be exclusively used by Katrina, as Maria has the Magic Wand, which can be purchased at Buccaneer's Den.
