Appreciate you taking a look at that video, Rocco. Almost all the work I’ve done on that bike has been with the assistance of your instructional videos. You’ve been a great asset for me. Thank you.

Hey Rocco! 1 question, I have a garage with a concrete floor this season (a first for me) Its a radiant heated floor, which I plan to keep at or around a minimum of 50°F throughout the winter season. Nonetheless, do you recommend keeping something under the tires while it sits? (Upstate)
Somebody mentioned you're in Florida.....must be nice. 😁
    Thank you Sir!

Happy to help. I wouldn't worry about that 50° is mighty comfortable for Tires. Thank you for watching and all your support TKO New York. Ride safe and have a great day.

Always great video, have the same model, just took mine out of storage. Learned alot from your videos. Tho mine makes a wierd sound when I started her up again, starting fine but the sound comes when I use the breaks. The headlight flickers and its sounds awful. Real wierd.

Happy to help. Sounds like there's some old gas in the system. Run her for a little while and everything should be fine. The brakes are gonna be a little squeaky because surface rust on the rotors. Take her out for a ride. She'll clean up. Thank you for watching. And all your support BHT check out. Ride safe and have a great day.

My oil was seeping down into the engine when it set more than a week or two so the oil tank would be low but then when i ran out for a bit it would check full. I replaced the check ball in the oil filter housing and it's all good now.. Love your videos and the motorcycle you got.

Rocco, I added to my Road King I own, a XL1200C Sportster, had an 883 , sold it, but what a difference in performance. . I ride year round here in s.e.La. One thing I see riders do with storage they put the bike on a lift so the wheels are off the ground, does that make sense ? Watched the whole video and thumbs up, as always keep the video's coming , you are very informative.

I guess the engine naturally stops on a compression stroke for one pot but is it worth making sure the pot has the valves closed so damp air doesn’t get in? If so how would you do that?
Cheers Rocco. Love ya stuff man. 👍🤜

I’ve got a 2004 sportster and bought it brand new. Actually had to order it as they didn’t have one in stock. I’m in Massachusetts and have not put it away for a winter yet. June 1st she’ll be 20. I ride whenever the roads are clear and it’s not too cold. Rode Christmas Day and did a vlog. Love the channel Rocco! 💪 Xena ✌️

Hey, Rocco. Love your content. Always extremely informative and to the point. I have a 2000 Sportster 1200 and it is running great, but there is a noticeable pinging sound coming from motor. Is this something I should be worried about? Thanks for all your contributions to the community.

    • @TwoWheelRocco
      @TwoWheelRocco  10 місяців тому

Happy to help. I really believe if you're going to store the bike in the winter time you should start it with your peacock on off and run the fuel out of the carburetor cause that's where your problems starts. It's a small area the fuel goes bad and destroys components in that carburetor like your float needle jet I don't cost you nothing. It's a good habit if you're putting your bike away for a few months. The gas gets gelled up after 30 40 days of not sitting. And this is how you have to ride your bike with the choke on because the idle jet is clogged. Thank you for watching all your support. Ride safe and have a great day.

Im having problems with the sportster 2010 1200n i replace the speedometer sensor it worked for about 15 minutes/4.5 miles but afterwards i get back on it after class and it didn't work when i started moving in the parking lot after i got out of the parking lot it definitely showed and i bought 2 speedometer sensor but the second time it didn't work so im guessing its cable that or something but idk how to test if it is

@@lassassin2239 Happy to help. If you went through two sensors, your problem is your Speedo itself. Go on eBay find a speedo with a return policy, buy it and test it that way the worst scenario you return it. The best scenario problem solved. Thank you for watching and all your support lassassin. Let us know how it works out. Ride safe and have a great day. Sportster are great machines.

You can also check for intake leaks by using a propane torch (without lighting it of course) along the gaskets and listen for the engine to rev up a little. If it stays the same then it's ok no leaks. I'm sure you've done that before Rocco. The way you used brake cleaner is also good as there is always more than one way to skin a cat LOL (I'd never do that for real of course) Thanks Rocco take care

Fun to see the rubber mounts doing their thing, with the engine shaking while the frame stays fairly still during the warm up. Different experience with my 2003.
Any reason you switch off the gas AFTER starting the bike? I did it in the reverse order figuring that was good enough.

Great tips, Rocco. And a great bike. I have an 06 Sportster Low, the last year of the carbed bikes. These things are great motorcycles! I live down South, so, I get to ride during the winter months, but it is still a really good idea to do like you recommend here, to keep the gas tank full to cut down on the moisture condensation that the cold months bring. I am also lucky enough that there are a few (very few) gas stations around here that have 93 octane Ethanol Free gas. Most stations that carry Ethanol free around here are 87 octane, and these rubber mount Sportsters have high compression, so they need the 93 octane. Ethanol is a water magnet and the older the bikes, the more problems with hoses and gaskets it causes, as I am sure that a mechanic like you is well aware of. When I bought my bike, I believe I went back and watched every video that you made on these Sportsters and learned a lot about my new scoot! Thanks for all the great videos, Roc!

Do you have non-ethanol gas available to you? In my 06 Sportster I run 91 octane non-ethanol and my fuel system stays spotless and never acquires any moisture. Heck the stuff lasts me 2 years for some of my lawn equipment with zero issues. Their fuel systems stay spotless too. Ride Ugly.

Happy to help. I totally agree with you, In some cases, the bikes like 93 octane. So to drain the carburetor of fuel when you put it in storage is not at big deal non ethanol gas is getting more expensive. Thank you for watching and all your support UBS.. Ride safe and have a great day.
