Me in a Battleship: Target... broadside of Iowa at 2 kilometers off starboard. All 12 guns are trained amidship! ... and... FIRE!!! SIR... Half the shells landed in the water between us and the target... Me: I don't care about the misses... just tell me about how many hit... Um... nothing to report sir. Me: Wait... what? The other half of our shells entered low orbit... sir. We missed with all of them... Piccolo: ALL OF THEM!!!
All in all Russians had the best fleet of world war II! And World War I! And World War III, World War 0,5, World War s2e08! And All the medieval wars! Heck, they even had the best fleet in ancient times!
Well I don't know about the stats of the thing. They might have completely invented the armor, speed, reload and caliber of the guns, but the fact that they have very little dispersion and that middle two turrets can easily traverse between firing on both sides is down to it's curious design and positioning of the turrets. Basically baring the minute differences between propellant loads in the guns, the warping of the same and inaccuracy of measuring equipment, dialing all 4 turrets to the same bearing and elevation SHOULD cause all 12 shells to fall in a line since they are fired in a line at the same speed and angle. This is unlike other warships where the guns are all over the place spaced both vertically (superfiring turrets) or horizontally (all the ships that have turrets on sides like Kaiser). Given that their shells are not fired in a line it's no wonder they don't fall in line. On the other hand in WoWs shells fired from a single turret tend to FOR SOME God forsaken reason also to have vertical dispersion. Which is a fact I can not explain. As for secrit documents, the armor and the power plant and such can be made up since it never underwent sea trials, but the guns themselves are a known quantity being basically from what I can determine the default 12" guns that Russians and later Soviets used. As such their stats should be a known quantity. If I were to judge by their performance IRL vs what is modeled in the game I would say that they are under powered, being able to lob 3 shells per minute and at a range of 20+ km. BUT I suspect WG did some serious re scaling of the world when making the game so I think other ships's starts were probably similarly downgraded for game play reasons.
Yes we must have most OP ships in game. Our glorious dreadnought is the mighty Imperator Nikolai, stronk destroyer/cruiser hunter Gremyashchy, and the flame god Mikhail Kutuzov, now we must bring out our secret carrier with jets at t4.
The Soviet Carrier at Tier 4 uses flying bears as dive bombers that drop molotov cocktails in the tightest spread of any CV, while the fighters are KV-2s with wings and rockets bolted onto them.
Great video! In artillery terms, what you're referring to is range dispersion, which is a function of MVV, muzzle velocity variation. The largest component of MVV is the difference between prop charges. During indirect fire, a technique to reduce MVV is to characterize different lots of ammunition through use of a chronograph and by registration. Sorry for the litany, keep up the great videos.
Not "All" tier 4s do anymore. This isn't "all" the other tier 4 ships, lolz.... Though it might not see 6s anymore either, idk. Would only be right if does.
Another little thing about Imperator OPness: Most BBs in the game have ranges tied to the height of their masts(the logic being that higher-mounted rangefinders equate to further range), and this is balanced by the longer range BBs having more vulnerable superstructure to penetrate with HE and set aflame(think kongou, fusou, nagato, north carolina, iowa, etc). Imperator is the the only BB in game that has short and small superstructure but no range inadequacy.
ACTUALLY JINGLES! He didn't get a hit with every salvo in the game after the beginning, because he lost target lock on the South Carolina and hit the island. :)
Jingles, at the end you stated that he only missed all shots on one salvo at the Kuma at the beginning when the kuma pulled a hard turn as he fired. He also missed all shots when he shot the island as a result of losing target lock on the South Carolina at the end of the match.
IChase talked about how one of the new perks wasn't over powered because you have to give up getting other perks to use it. I replied with how that logic is like saying the Flint and this ship aren't over powered because there are other ships in the game. And then you go and make 2 videos about those 2 ships and how overpowered they are. Perfect.

5:20 "The shells spend more time in the air, than any other tier 4 battleship" because all tier 4 battleships are known for just flying around in wows :D
Important factor for this ship being so good is inexpierence of tier 3-5 players. I have Nikolai, but consider Kaiser and Wayoming generally better ships.
Hey Mighty Jingles, I have the Nickolai and I love mine, just watching all the shells hitting the target is soo much fun and I love hitting cruisers with it lol
I bought this one due to a review you did when it was first released. I am not a big BB player but this ship is to fun to pass up. I will take issue with the main turrets vs DD. Load HE and wail away that flat arc man you lay a wall of fire onto a closing destroyer ans most times if you connect with the dd one shell will do the job most times.
Thanks for the information Jingles! These things have been a pain in the ass in my Kaiser...I've been wondering why I can't do too great in close-quarters with them.
Vertical dispersion ... so that's why this ship is OP ... as a BB player, I can testify to the vertical dispersion screwing up your shots. One time, I had aimed perfectly in one of my ARP Kongo ships (I've modified each of them to perform differently from each other, IE one for AA while another for secondaries) at 7 KM at the broadside of a kuma. They all missed, because the shots went long and short. There are quite a few other times where I had perfectly aimed shots in a few of my other BBs, including my Yamato, where I didn't score a single hit from a full salvo due to vertical dispersion. Not to mention the countless number of times i was denied citadel hits at point blank range at the broadside of ships.
Actually Jingles, the Nikolai does not see Tier VIs. The MM changes a while back made MM +/-1 for Tier IV and under, so the Nikolai only sees up to Tier V.
love Jingles, this ship was my first and like most ships has an edge in certain situations, never really felt OP because it handles like a dog and aircraft pull it apart
Jingles, currently on the NA server, I think you can still buy the Christmas gift boxes, and from them I think you can still get a chance to get the Russian battleship.
The biggest strenght of this ship is simply its tier. The Nikolai is the prime example of a seal clubber. Most players on tier 4 are still relatively new to the game. They hardly know how to engage the more common ships like the Kaiser, Myogi and so on. They simply have no clue about how to engage a ship as rare as the Nikolai.
I thought Imperator Nikolai I doesn't see tier 6 ships any more after a recent update. You said it doesn't get pref. matchmaking. The wiki says it does get pref. matchmaking.
Recently got this ship, and one thing I've noted is that the DPM is actually slightly worse than the Wyoming and Ishizuchi, due to the longer reload(35 vs 30s vs 25s). My best games in Wyoming have been better than my best games in Nikolai, although that could be put down to RNG overcoming the deficiency of the sigma values(1.5 on Wyoming, 2.0 on Nikolai). In my experience, this thing is pretty much immune to any cruiser HE. 35mm deck armour and almost no superstructure means that you can give your broadside to cruisers for days and even Furutaka's good 203mm HE can't penetrate your deck or amidships hull, can't do any direct damage with HE. Don't forget, HE not penetrating drastically lowers the chance of a fire starting. They can aim for your much weaker bow and stern hull and pen that, but it's not the easiest target unless you angle towards them. The Ishizuchi also has a midships deck with >35mm armour, and 2.0 sigma. Unfortunately, her belt armour is more like a heavy cruiser, and her long range ballistics are Yorck-level. Though to be fair, she doesn't have a massive weak spot in the citadel that even DDs can pen.
People have been pulling the Nicoli from supercontainers in the Christmas Containers. Flamu got one (it's on his tube). Rare, yes. But a friend of mine did it from the middle tier of containers too. I bought one when they came out, so I've been enjoying this for quite some time. What I didn't have was a Gremy... until a helpful Xmas supercontainer on the 23rd of Dec. :D
Saw someone take this thing on the test server a few days ago and shoot at it with a Yamato ... the damn bow armor actually was deflecting no small number of 18" freaking Yamato shells. It was tougher against the Yamato bow on than a Montana.
9:24 actually you can do that in myogi, you just need to be a bit closer than that... alot closer... so close your guns are hanging over the enemy deck. If you miss from that range, i give up xD
Jingles i have a question. You have done a few warstorys with jingles in mingle with jingles a few times. Will you do some videos about that again mainly with warstories?
no verticle dispersion, my god, ive been working up the german bb line. i remember once i fired over a n island MOUNTAIN and one my shells hit the BOTTOM of the island!! thats like 230m lower then the rest of my shells!!!!!
Jingles I'm not sure if you don't count it because it's not a purchasable ship. But the Arkansas Beta is my favorite tier 4 ship as well and able to compete with the Nikolai I. I actually prefer the Arkansas Beta even with no aa of the two. And just wondering will or have you ever done a video on the Arkansas Beta?
From what I've heard is that this ship won't be sold any more because it is deemed to be too overpowered. The only way to get this ship now is to be lucky engough to find it in a super container.
Jingles, have you tried Men of War assault squad? It has awesome ww2 warfare, and tanks (I play it exclusively for the joy of using tanks versus infantry, things I can't so in neither World of Tanks nor War Thunder).
Jingles! The Kaiser doesn't have the fastest firing main batteries of any tier 4 BB! Don't forget the Ishizuchi reloads one second faster. Don't underestimate the Itchy Zucchini...
I've seen this ship wreck multiple tier 5 BB's without taking much of a scratch. Because it has full all-around armor, it can steer more or less straight toward an enemy, and bounce everything a BB throws at it. It's not that big, it's hard to hit, and what's hit doesn't penetrate. And it's guns are insanely hard hitting and have incredible accuracy. It's just stupid OP.
But Jingles, this ship gets preferential matchmaking now, only T5 maximum. Or in other words, this ship could have been seeing T6 because of how OP it was so WG gave him a harder matchmaking, but they removed it in later patches, so now the Nicolai has the same MM as other T4 ships.
Of course Wargaming would make the Russian battleship have absurd accuracy. Because, you know, Russian naval gunnery is totally known for its accuracy (as opposed to failing to hit a single goddamn thing while getting its ass kicked).
it's because their citadel is very low and often completely under the water line, so even if you pen the side of the ship your shell is going to detonate above the citadel without damaging it. I have no idea what they use all that space between the deck and the citadel for tho, since it's not vital to the ship apparently. Some believe they are hidding secret saussage factories inside their battleships.
Just like "Warspite's Tea Citadel"... Warspite has an extra part forward (although well underwater) of the #1 main gun turret that is considered part of the citadel (which it shouldn't be as only fresh water and tea was stored there).
hey guys, im still a noob at WoW and i wonder which is the best nation to invest time in? i am about halfway through the american tech-tree, but i have'nt even started on the other nations. which one shuld i spend my time and focous on? does one nation have generally better ships?

It wouldn't be a Wargaming title if there wasn't an overpowered, imaginary, Russian option.
Russian bias. It is not for nothing that the vertical dispersion is a hidden stat.
Russian Bias? Nyet, comrade, no bias here. Only coincidence that most OP ship in game for its tier is Russian.
Thats how they are in sikrit dokuments
All in all Russians had the best fleet of world war II! And World War I! And World War III, World War 0,5, World War s2e08! And All the medieval wars! Heck, they even had the best fleet in ancient times!

I've heard the Jingles himself replies if you're this early.
The_Shinigami unless it's a question, then gnome overlord may respond (coming from experience)
Don't believe everything you read on the internet!
Lololololololol love your vids Jingles. Have a good one mate
The Mighty Jingles almighty gnome overlord i have been serving double time in the salt mines. Please relieve me of my duties.
The Mighty Jingles my word you even shocked me!
Uh
Jingles
Tier IV doesn't see Tier VI anymore...
Not "All" tier 4s do anymore. This isn't "all" the other tier 4 ships, lolz....
Though it might not see 6s anymore either, idk. Would only be right if does.
This doesn't see tier 6 games unless you're divisioned with a 5 or 6
Well the WG news article doesn't make note of any exceptions to the I-IV matchmaker so if it is exempt, it'll have to be on a wiki somewhere
No exemptions. T4s only see T5s max. Only way to see T6 is to faildivision.
WG capped MM. zero tier 4 ships will see 6 unless divisioned with a 5
Can you score 9 hits in one salvo with a Myogi? Well, it only has 6 guns, so probably not.
Jingles you are my drug of choice I have to watch your videos everyday or I go mad.
ACTUALLY JINGLES! He didn't get a hit with every salvo in the game after the beginning, because he lost target lock on the South Carolina and hit the island. :)
Well, he did hit something, just not a ship :P
Very nice and comprehensive review, Jingles. :)
Don't you just love how the Nikolai is OP because it hits what it's shooting at?
WoWS, never change!
Jingles turret rotation mathematics: 360° - 60° = 270°.
A classic :D
Hey Jingles!! Got into World of Warships because of your vids!
everyone in the salt mine our mighty overlord jingles has made a informational video from the future
Jingles, at the end you stated that he only missed all shots on one salvo at the Kuma at the beginning when the kuma pulled a hard turn as he fired. He also missed all shots when he shot the island as a result of losing target lock on the South Carolina at the end of the match.

5:20 "The shells spend more time in the air, than any other tier 4 battleship" because all tier 4 battleships are known for just flying around in wows :D
Complete opposite to a kaiser which feels sometimes like it can't hit the broadside of anything at 4 km range. Great vid Jingles! As usual.
A casual break from saltmining followed by a sea salt harvesting, what a day.
Important factor for this ship being so good is inexpierence of tier 3-5 players. I have Nikolai, but consider Kaiser and Wayoming generally better ships.
Nothing better than a Jingles laugh when someone gets sunk.
"Actually, Jingles..." I heard that they gave this ship preferential MM, and it can only see Tier 5s now.
Hey Mighty Jingles, I have the Nickolai and I love mine, just watching all the shells hitting the target is soo much fun and I love hitting cruisers with it lol
Very good review of the strengths and weaknesses of the Nikolai. It has amazing guns, but as you said, vulnerable to torps.
So is every BB, though. So not really a weakness when you're comparing it to its peers...
Hey Jingles, are you aware of the "World of LoLs" series here on UA-cam? It's hellish funny, go watch it if didn't already.
By OneandOnly016? Seen them all. :)
he was even featured with one of the competitions
ExtremeDeathman This means Jingles watched all World of Lols videos, but you didn't watch all of Jingles' videos. Shame on you!
ExtremeDeathman exposed...send him to the gulag...
Checked it out. Man, that was some childish crap.
Bovington gave us jingles's top 5 favourite tank. Now can we have Jingles's top 5 favourite warships?
well, we know Warspite is his favourite in number one spot, now we just need 2-5
EPIC389 The Tog II.
Dude.. I've never played a T6 game in my Nikolai, as shouldn't any other T4.

Work on this side.
I bought this one due to a review you did when it was first released. I am not a big BB player but this ship is to fun to pass up. I will take issue with the main turrets vs DD. Load HE and wail away that flat arc man you lay a wall of fire onto a closing destroyer ans most times if you connect with the dd one shell will do the job most times.
my word this game is aesthetically beautiful
+The Mighty Jingles
You can get the Imperator and Gremy from the santa crates (right now). It is gambling, however.
Ahoy Jingles, slight mistake in that the ship will never see Tier 6 BB's as matchmaking limits Tier 4's to max Tier 5 battles at the moment.
Thanks that will give me nightmares for a while as I traverse the Tier 4 world
Next up on Jingle's overpowered streak: the Belfast, Kamikaze, or Gremy.
Dear Jingles,
keep up the good work, and look in your mailbox for a replay from The Demon Lord
Actually Jingles, the Nikolai does not see Tier VIs. The MM changes a while back made MM +/-1 for Tier IV and under, so the Nikolai only sees up to Tier V.
The fact that it is low tier match also helps not like talking about 20km shots.
It seems there is a truck engine playing in the background. Is it some kind of extraction machinery for the salt mines?
Just when I think I got Jingle's upload schedule down he keeps uploading earlier and earlier.
Love your replay commentary jingles keep up the great work.
love Jingles, this ship was my first and like most ships has an edge in certain situations, never really felt OP because it handles like a dog and aircraft pull it apart
Your World of Warships Videos are awesome, even if i dont play the game myself lol
Jingles, currently on the NA server, I think you can still buy the Christmas gift boxes, and from them I think you can still get a chance to get the Russian battleship.
I want this man to narrate my entire life
Does someone have a count of how many times Jingles said "vertical dispersion" in this video?
The biggest strenght of this ship is simply its tier. The Nikolai is the prime example of a seal clubber.
Most players on tier 4 are still relatively new to the game. They hardly know how to engage the more common ships like the Kaiser, Myogi and so on. They simply have no clue about how to engage a ship as rare as the Nikolai.
Jingles, if you buy the $3 boxes you stand a great chance of getting the ship. I brought 10 and the Imperator Nikolai came up 4 times as gifts.
if you don't think vertical dispersion is important, try shooting the Bismarck at anything outside of 10 kilometers
I'd wager the Arkansas Beta can hit with greater regularity than most tier 4 BBs too. Damn fine guns on that boat.
People have been pulling the Nicoli from supercontainers in the Christmas Containers. Flamu got one (it's on his tube). Rare, yes. But a friend of mine did it from the middle tier of containers too. I bought one when they came out, so I've been enjoying this for quite some time.

How does he get the thing above the map that tells him weather he overpens or bounces and stuff like that
Jingles i have a question. You have done a few warstorys with jingles in mingle with jingles a few times. Will you do some videos about that again mainly with warstories?
I was so afraid when I saw a 3-Nikolai division that my ship immediately exploded.
no verticle dispersion, my god, ive been working up the german bb line. i remember once i fired over a n island MOUNTAIN and one my shells hit the BOTTOM of the island!! thats like 230m lower then the rest of my shells!!!!!
Hey Jingles, whats your view on Soviet cruisers? specifically Moskva and Dmitri Donskoi

Hey Jingles WastingSomeTime has put up a video in the Nikolai were he is bounceing shoots from the yamato....
From what I've heard is that this ship won't be sold any more because it is deemed to be too overpowered. The only way to get this ship now is to be lucky engough to find it in a super container.
The repair consumable is so quick.
Jingles, have you tried Men of War assault squad? It has awesome ww2 warfare, and tanks (I play it exclusively for the joy of using tanks versus infantry, things I can't so in neither World of Tanks nor War Thunder).
Today's Jingles video is brought to you by: Vertical Dispersion.
what E-Mail do we send replays to? I have a Montana match where I got 253k damage, High Caliber, Confederate.
wasnt this thing at t3 at some point?
so this is a 60fps video , but the replay says itself its at 45~50 fps , what do I believe
jingles i don't think you did the kraken unleashed clip in the last video :(
So if this is the week of op WoWS stuff, then will there be a gremyashchy video?
What movie is that 'Kraken Unleashed' footage from?
Jingles! The Kaiser doesn't have the fastest firing main batteries of any tier 4 BB! Don't forget the Ishizuchi reloads one second faster.
Don't underestimate the Itchy Zucchini...
Kamikaze,Kamikaze R and Fujin are now op.
ooooh, breakfast time Jingles video. It is Wednesday my dudes!
I've seen this ship wreck multiple tier 5 BB's without taking much of a scratch. It's not that big, it's hard to hit, and what's hit doesn't penetrate. And it's guns are insanely hard hitting and have incredible accuracy. It's just stupid OP.
jingles it's been awhile since you've reviewed a ship, how about one on the graf spree,?
But Jingles, this ship gets preferential matchmaking now, only T5 maximum.
Or in other words, this ship could have been seeing T6 because of how OP it was so WG gave him a harder matchmaking, but they removed it in later patches, so now the Nicolai has the same MM as other T4 ships.

When I encounter a Nikolai in my Arkansas it's like an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.
Anyone else thinking that this vertical dispesion thing might become the national flavour for soviet BBs?
hey jingles. question. how's the weather on your side of the pond? I doubt I'll get a response. but hey had to ask😂
hey guys, im still a noob at WoW and i wonder which is the best nation to invest time in? i am about halfway through the american tech-tree, but i have'nt even started on the other nations. which one shuld i spend my time and focous on? does one nation have generally better ships?
Sweet looking paint!
How does it compare to the Arkansas Beta?
I wish you had a detailed video on the sims
I wish I had the Nikolai...
I think the Arkansas Beta fully loaded is somewhat competitive against the Nikolai though
Dispersion wise, no, not at all... it's also hella expensive. It's better than most other ships, though... well maybe not the kaiser but most other ships...
Hey does anyone now how to get that intro music because I would love to listen to it
My New Mexico doesn't miss that much. every time I fire all of my guns, some of them hit.
Snuck in a Simpsons reference towards the end there. I like it

JIngles, even if the Myogi had less dispersion than the Nikolai you couldn't score 9 hits with one salvo...
Vertical dispersion is my biggest beef with Battleships.
I love my Nicholai. Wish I pulled wins like this!
