(in terms of balancing work and relaxation) there's loads i like the look of but idk if i have time for all of them
Hmmm I was exactly the same in first year, wanted to do so many different societies (and actually first year is definitely the perfect time to do it). I’d say try out all the ones that appeal to you in your first few weeks then choose your faves! I *just about* juggled rowing, dance and UA-cam in first year so it’s definitely possible to get involved with at least 3 societies, possibly at the expense of a social life though 😆 but honestly there’s so many different societies with varied commitment levels so just get stuck in and you’ll find a balance soon enough.
Paige, I am glad that you enjoyed your studies at Cambridge university and you were happy there. Are you ever going to go back there study maybe do another undergraduate degree or do a Master's or PhD?
Clearly "the typical Cambridge student" now works more in terms of academic study than in "my day". I wonder how I would do if I went there now. I suspect less drinking and socialising! We used to refer to "hearties" (people who played more sports, spent more time in the bar and socialising) and "grey men" (ie those who spent most of their time in the College or Departmental libraries, or studying in their rooms). I woukd have to be a little greyer now!
I think if Paige wanted to be an academic, she would have gone on to postgraduate study. Seems like she wanted to leave the ivory tower, so to speak, and enter the real world?

Hi! Can I ask a question? I’m in year 11. I’m aiming for physics - 9 maths - 7 comp science - 8. I got into a really good college (taking those subjects) but they are subjects I REALLY struggle in. It’s my goal to study computer science at Cambridge, but I need all the help I can get to improve myself enough to get a level a*’s. I know about supercurricular activities and extra studies on the subject you want to take. But I know that computer science is one of the most competitive degrees to get into, and I have no idea what a levels will be like. Any tips/ or help would be appreciated:)

Ngl I don’t think I ever managed to shake imposter syndrome. It’s important to remember that a lot of people feel the same and even those who seem as though they are gliding through actually have their feet paddling hard under the surface!

My DoS strongly recommended maths A to everyone as you all sit the same exam at the end of the year and typically a very small amount of people actually end up answering the questions on maths B topics in the final exam. Also I did Maths in second year and got on fine, the course only assumes maths A knowledge. However if you are keen to stretch yourself and fancy the fast pace then go for maths B! It’s always possible to switch from maths B to maths A after a few weeks (a lot of people did this in my year).
How can I apply and be accepted for university of Cambridge? I want to be accepted to University of Cambridge, more than everything. I started to studying A-level physics subjects slowly. I get ready for A-level subjects on my own because I'm not in England or I don't study in high school that teaches A-level subjects. So I get ready for A-level and IELTS on my own without help. And then I have 4 years to prepare for university of Cambridge. How can I do it? What can I do it? I don't have English speaking nationality. I've been studying to improve my English. Can I help me? Hi your videos worried me slightly (not your fault at all)! I saw that the people on your staircase were almost all white (correct me if I’m wrong). And I know Cambridge is lot more diverse so did the college shove all the white people together? Did you get to choose who you got to be with before first year? Did you only make friends with white people? Again, I’m in no way blaming you, I think yr awesome but it just worries me slightly and it’d mean a lot if you could reply to this
The college randomly allocates rooms in first year, and I understand that it looks poor that my staircase was all white people in first year. All I can say is that since then the college has made a big effort to increase diversity and I think in the most recent cohort 1 in 4 UK students were BME. In general, Jesus College has a really friendly, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere
