    My knee pain that’s been horrible for a couple of months now has been healed on the current water fast I’m on and I’m only 72 hours into the fast. My water contains potassium chloride and Himalayan salt, and I’m taking my magnesium as usual too.

    Great insights, Bill. Three months ago, I had a baker's cyst on the back of my left knee. Incredible swelling from the knee to the top of my foot. My calf was on fire, so painful that I had to get imaging done to rule out a DVT. Here in Canada, the health system is lousy. The soonest appointment I could get with a sports medicine doctor, was literally today, in mid January. The swelling had since reduced, as well as the severity of the pain, but there was still swelling and pain all around the front and sides of the knee. The doctor performed an ultrasound and concluded that the cyst was now gone. She also attempted aspiration on the outside of the knee, where there was evident swelling, as it was assumed it was due to fluid build-up. However, the syringe came out dry. Thus it was concluded that there is swelling and inflammation all through the synovial membrane. We applied for an MRI to see what the underlying pathology would be that would cause this; lord only knows when that MRI will happen (again, the lousy Canadian system). In the meantime, starting tomorrow, I am going on a water fast for at least 48 hours. I will also get on a strict carnivore regimen post that for a few weeks. A topical anti-inflammatory solution, Diclofenac Sodium, to be applied 4x per day was also prescribed today. Let's see how things go...

    Had bow leg correction surgery as a teen but didnt allow it to properly heal. Also didnt diet so it got worse over time all the way into adulthood. Now at 29 years old 483 pounds before dieting and fasting . Only a month later ive lost 20+ pounds and cut sugars , carbs snd now only pretty much eat shrimp,steak and veggies. My leg was numb since my surgery as a teen but now im starting to get all the feeling back in my legs. Still have knee pains so im using compression for circulation but i feel so much better. I just hope once i lose enough weight i can fix my leg but ive never felt better even at a smaller size.

    Intermittent fasting doesn't do much for me. Three day (72 hour) water fasts are a good target to aim toward. Reduces inflammation quite a bit especially once you lose visceral and deep subcutaneous fat like you'll see on people that have love handles.. Most people struggle to get to 36 hours early on but if you cut out sugar and use electrolytes and keep trying to fast after each meal it becomes less difficult and eventually somewhat easy and pleasurable.
    I love your speaking on getting the knee comfortable. My recent knee injury while the pain is bad it's almost like the muscles around my knee cannot relax and I cannot sleep well at all with the pain. I'm hoping the fasting will reverse this pain. I'm 30lbs overweight at the moment. We'll see how this goes.

      Doubling down on what hasn't worked 5 times already may not be your best strategy. If you ask better questions, you'll get better answers. I'm happy to help you with that. Head over to my website for more support: www.thekneepainguru.com/ Regards, Bill

    I had a small niggle in my knee and was drawn to fasting as I know i have been eating a lot of sugar recently - so going to do a 2 day fast to see if I can reduce the inflammation and throw out all the bad food I’ve been eating and back to clean eats low carb

    • @TheKneePainGuru
      @TheKneePainGuru  2 місяці тому

      Nice, i'm curious to see how that works for you? Are you just going no food? or are you eliminating water as well?

    Well by definition if you are fasting you are shredding pounds and becoming lighter therefore you put less stress on your knees. Also some form of arthritis can be cured with fasting as well that gives you joints pain, however if you had a knee injury that’s a completely different ball game that won’t be cured with fasting.
    There will not be a significant improvement after 24 hour fast, if you want to see improvement you have to incorporate fasting into your lifestyle.
    Extended fasts such as 10 to 20 days have shown significant improvements in obese individuals.
    If you aren’t obese you may not require fast longer than 3 days to reset your body.
    So there are many variable involved when it comes to different fasting approaches.
    I read many mentioned salt 🧂, unfortunately high sodium diet can cause inflammatory arthritis.
    So balanced low calorie diet is a must.
    Cooking at home will give you better chance of avoiding high sugar, high sodium and high saturated fat meals. Majority what we see in stores are processed foods which are toxic for us if consuming regularly and so as junk foods such as pizzas and McDonald’s burgers etc.
    the more you cook at home and fast regularly, the healthier you will be.
    1. Adequate Sleep
    2. Adequate water consumption
    3. Balanced low calorie, salt, sugar diet. Preferably not processed.
    4. Regular exercise
    5. Incorporate fasting at least once a week if 24 hours or at least once a month if you do prolonged fast 3-7 days.
    10 -20 days fast can be repeated every 3 to 6 months if you are obese.

      I agree with you 100%...Fasting will not correct the imbalance in the knee joint from an injury. The key lies with the nervous system and getting the neurology to a parasympathetic state while the knee is in a position of comfort to allow the body to realign the knee.

      Hi Eye Movie...There may be slight adjustments to what your asking above. The best strategy we can have would be jump on a short call and figure out exactly what you have going on and what needs to happen to get you relief in the short term. Here's a link to my online program to set that up: www.thekneepainguru.com/

    Himalayan Pink Salt is better than sea salt. Also, Yogasanas will improve overall flexibility, resilience, posture, breathing and healing efficacy of the body.
    Indeed, fasting is also a part of Yoga.

    • @TheKneePainGuru
      @TheKneePainGuru  4 роки тому +4

      Himalayan pink salt is nothing more than very old very dried out sea salt. The benefits (mineral content) of the sea salt is NOT in the salt itself, it's in the wetness contained in the salt. So if the sale has been completely dried out, the mineral content has been greatly diminished. There certainly are elements of yoga that can be beneficial for those suffering from knee pain however most people suffering from knee pain would rather go directly to addressing the source of the pain and move on than learning yogasanas in the hopes to achieve the end results you're claiming. www.thekneepainguru.com/all-sea-salt-is-not-created-equal/ Regards, bill
